Title: Snoopy's WPT article.
Post by: brummieboy on January 11, 2008, 07:28:47 PM
Has anyone read Snoopy's article in the latest WPT magazine. He assigns Midlands place names to poker terms and situations that don't yet possess a name.
For example a Chelmsley Wood is a player who's chip stacks are a complete mess.
However I think this terminology would be a bit too localised for everyone to understand.
Therefore I think we should start comparing Poker to football teams.

For example a Leeds United would be a player who has played a few sessions above he's bankroll and lost the lot and is now forced to play Micro stakes in an attempt to rebuild he's roll.

You can say a player is a bit of a Liverpool if he does well in EPT's but can't win a tournament in England for love and money.

An online player would be a bit of a Newcastle if after sufferring a few so called bad beats he gets disillusioned with the current poker site he plays on and moves he's roll to a new site only for the same pattern to occur again.

A player would be a bit of a Tottenham if he constantly gets to final tables but can't crack the big money places in the top 4.

The biggest shark on a small poker site would be called a Celtic.

A player would be a bit of a Leicester City if he won a few small MTT's in the past and thinks he a decent player.

And a player who has played poker for years and years but has never won an MTT would be a Birmingham City.

Can anyone think of any more.

A Man Utd would have a large bankroll and only play televised tournaments
A Roma would look like they were playing a solid game but would be sneaking chips from other players stacks when they weren't looking.
An England would have won a big tourney in the past and still thinks he's great but doesn't play well in the modern game.
A Crewe Alexandra would keep winning at small stakes but then go bust when they moved up levels.
A Sheffield Utd/Sheffield Wednesday are two players who have a huge rivalry but are both actually rubbish.
A Luton Town will lose at the table and then beat you up when you go outside.
A Millwall will also lose and beat you up, only using a brick.

A newcastle united would be a player who once did well with an awful hand, so they foolishly play it again when things arent going so welln under the illusion that they can recreate past glories
