Title: Jen Mason on telly tomorrow (Wednesday 16th January).
Post by: Mango99 on January 15, 2008, 02:31:52 PM
It's the last heat of the Women's World Open tomorrow night.

Blondeites Maria, Kara, and Bev all won their heats so are in next weeks final. Will Jen be joining them? Watch tomorrow to find out! :)

Channel 5, 11.50pm.

Bumperoo. This is on tonight. Don't forget to watch - it really is a very impressive display of play from those concerned. There is also a really crazy hand involving an Ace and a Jack. Not sure if I've mentioned that yet?...

Did whats-her-name Homam ever explain why she folded Ac Jc heads-up pre-flop when she was first to act.  It probably cost her the game.  She said she never plays that hand but didn't explain at the time why not.  Jesse May said maybe Ace Jack had done something to her family.

I agree, at the point in the game she folded AJ she had momentum (iirc), and may well have won if she'd played it. I thought it was an insane hand to fold Heads Up. I spoke to her friends in the Green Room about it, and they said for superstitious reasons she never, ever plays that hand. I can't remember exactly what they said, but I think she once lost a huge pot with it?

Lol the Jessie May-ism too. That was absolutely great :)

I had an early night last night and forgot to record this :(  That   Ac Jc pass looks completely bonkers.  Is there really any room for superstition like this in poker?  I've lost big pots with all sorts of hands, but don't mean I won't play 'em again.

What would have been the absolute worst case scenario had she played it?  She could have lost all her chips, but I think she had the chip lead at that stage, so she would still have been alive.  By passing she ended giving up the chip lead and then lost the heat.  Surely losing the heat is worse than doubling up your opponent.  Very odd. Maybe Ace Jack really did do something to her family, maybe someone in her family had a heart attack playing Ace Jack....that's worse than losing the heat.

I wonder what she'd do if she had  Ac Jc in the bb, unraised pre, then the flop came  Tc Qc Kc and there's a load of action.  Bugger of a time to have to fold due to your superstition :D

No, her mates said she never, ever plays that hand. Not once. Not in any situation. I love Claw's example above. I think she'd probably even fold then though lol ;)
