Had to happen....... Title: Re: Oh Dear Busto..... Post by: booder on January 18, 2008, 06:19:45 PM " i put the rest of my money into $25/$50 and busted after 4/5 hands with 7 high v AAA for a $6700 pot."

Post by: Grier78 on January 18, 2008, 08:51:30 PM I cant help but wonder whether all the supportive comments that say stuff like "Borrow again and get back in the game. Your credit is good as you paid back your debts before. But borrow enough to get back into $25-50 so you can quickly run up the amount, allowing you to repay the debts again and have a bankroll" are other big money players who enjoy a good payday.
What I wonder is if the majority of players playing $100/$200 are playing well out of thier bankroll as you would need at least $200,000 by my estimation to have anything like enough back. Would we not know the names of players like this (like Brian Townsend) or do they keep themselves cloaked in mystery. I think I will just stick to making $5 and hour on 5cent/10cent, I might never get rich but at least I wont have to sell my house. Title: Re: Oh Dear Busto..... How can u! Its crazy. Reading through I think he has paid half a house off in that time, but at that level without proper bankroll management dont think u can survive. Pick a level stick to it and grind it out. Obviously has talent.... ;gobsmacked; Title: Re: Oh Dear Busto..... These people generally are just saying these things because they like watching a car crash or nvg tards from 2+2. Anyone who has Ed's best interest at heart would tell to go and see someone about his gambling addiction, or at worst learn bankroll management. Not that he will listen. Title: Re: Oh Dear Busto..... Post by: GreekStein on January 18, 2008, 11:46:34 PM I was playing cash on will hill the other night when a funny hand occurred where i was sitting out only to come back in and post 3 quid in blinds. (playing 1/2) and being the luckbox i am i picked up 7/2 only to find a raise to 6 infront of me and 4 callers, so naturally i called the 4 being that there was nearly 30 quid in the pot and i already had 3 in. After a flop of 7710 i managed to win a 3 way all in vs J10 and AA.
The guy with aces hurled a barrage of abuse at me and said i was a fish to call with 7.2. When i said there wasnt a single hand i would fold for 4 more with 30 in and 200 behind he replied 'I'll ask my friend Goku'. Having read 88% concentration blog i knew Goku was Ed Hollis and said so. He then replied, 'Ed says its a bad call and he has lost more money than you'll ever win!' I thought that quote was pure class! says it all really! Title: Re: Oh Dear Busto..... Would we not know the names of players like this (like Brian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=904) Townsend (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=904)) or do they keep themselves cloaked in mystery. I think I will just stick to making $5 and hour on 5cent/10cent, I might never get rich but at least I wont have to sell my house. to play 100/200 nl on a regular basis i think you need at least $1m, probably $1.5m. The higher stakes games you play the more agressive the games tend to be the swings can be brutal. After 2/4 id say you need at least 10x more buy ins for 3/6 than you had when you started playing 2/4 then likewise again when you move to 5/10. Its common sense really, the games are going to be tougher and you are likely to be playing new players who you have little or no knowledge about their game. Usually when a player first starts playing a bigger game they are not properly bankrolled for it but are just taking a shot becasue they see a weak table or have had a good month at their current stakes. If it doesnt go well it isnt a disaster and they return to playing their normal game. However If u run good and rack up some wins then you will be much closer to having sufficient bankroll to play in the game regular. Taking shots at higher stakes is important to any cash game player IMO, if you have aspirations to move up levels. You hvae to exercise self control and be disciplined though if things dont go well when you take your shot, swallow your pride and move back to your regular game. It is easy remain in the higher game to recoup the money 'faster' which may or may not happen, when it doesnt happen thats when you are gonna hit some real trouble. Title: Re: Oh Dear Busto..... Post by: snoopy1239 on January 22, 2008, 08:52:45 PM My favourite Bluescouse quote:
haven't played today or yesterday, night before i lost £60k, playing some very bad poker. holein2 again trashed me on £40/£80 and steve95 took a £20k/£30k off me on £100/£200. it's the worst i've felt for ages. even though it's been a great few weeks i can't but help think of the money i've lost. saturday felt even worse as everton managed to lose 4-2 to utd after being 2-0 up and i lost a singles match in tennis. still very deflated today. i may play some tonight if theres a high enough game, hu ideally. Not sure they compare in my world. Title: Re: Oh Dear Busto.....
