When did this all start and what is behind it?

I'm talking about people betting strange amounts like $66 or $103. I#m not talking about percentages of the pot, it's just when someone bets an odd figure. Is there an article or theory behind it. Is it meant to confuse your opponent - it does me. Who started it?

The one i don't get is when the blinds are 10 / 20 on a sit n go and someone moves all in for 1500 in an unopened pot?

What's that all about?

I actually asked this question about a year ago, when someone in response to a strat question said make it 333 to go. The answer i got back that they always multitabled and it was easier to type 333 than say 300 or 350. It was nothing to do with some great theoretical betting pattern.
These guys are just idiots, its one of two thing they are either super maniac gambler or think they are disguising aa or kk by shoving it.

the unusual bet amounts used to be a way of making your bets look bigger.

I've used the 2nd part sometimes especially in mtts, people just love to call.

USB number pads make it easier and as the better ones come out with tracker balls and mouse built in they grow in popularity, add that to the bet size amounts noted above, much more common to see now.

its also pretty good to try and pretend you have hands that you dont, like if you raise some nits BB with 53os, and bet something like 535, and show when they fold, it lets you try and outwit opponents and you can do things like betting 666 (representing pocket 6's) when you really have AA

Therefore you should never pay attention to the odd one or two last digits of an opponents bet.  It is best to ignore them; just round to the nearest 100 or so and consider that the bet.  Reading too deeply into something that is effectively insignificant plays into the hands of the opposition.

I heard somewhere that Bots cant deal with odd numbers and insta fold, so maybe that is a reason for it. Other than that I think it is just pure boredom lol. I prefer just to use the sliders myself but some are a bit tricky especially if you have lots of chips

Must admit, that's sometimes why I'll bet 111 instead of 100, or 123 instead of 120, etc.

But it does annoy people as well.  Some people are just annoyed by a strange bet, others struggle to round the bet to work out their odds to call or to work out how large my bet was in relation to the pot.

When people only have 30-seconds or so to make a decision, it's amazing what can really upset them and put them off their game.  If it's within the rules, then I don't see a problem with it.  Add it to your arsenal!

i like to randomly throw an occasional odd bet in like 657.99 just to confuse and throw people off but ill only do it when holding the nuts

It if gets under someone's skin then you have an edge on them, it may not bother 99 ppl, but when you find the one that it does there are benfits...

In my experience it usually indicates AK or a smallish pocket pair.

It's a hand the person concerned hates playing. Some players hate AA as they once lost a pot with it and sometimes people will do this with AA.
