Title: Like this line with an overpair? Post by: Longy on January 21, 2008, 08:53:04 PM Ok i have seen this line suggested quite alot in similar situations. Do we like it or not, pros/cons? Are the better lines to this?
Im 6 tabling and not getting the best of it, missing flops and getting my cbets floated etc. Villain in question was something like 38/7/1.3 through 300 hands mostly datamined, first clash so far in a significant pot. Prima Poker skin No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.50/$1 6 players Stack sizes: UTG: $45.89 UTG+1: $91.50 CO: $40.12 Hero: $103.32 SB: $106.18 BB: $146.57 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is Button with Ad Ahrt 2 folds, CO calls, Hero raises to $4.5, SB folds, BB calls, CO folds. Flop: 8s 7c Qd ($10.5, 2 players) BB checks, Hero bets $7, BB raises to $15.75, Hero calls. Turn: 2c ($42, 2 players) BB bets $21, Hero raises all-in $83.07. You could be behind here as he checkraised you on the flop but I reckon the chips will get in at some stage on the river anyways and I much prefer you re-raising him on the turn.

Just interested, as I sued to shove the flop a lot..less so now..play it more your way With foe's stats..I might shove the flop I like you many moons ago used to 3 bet this flop as a default and still do on wet boards. This is a relatively dry board so very few cards are really scary, in fact one of the remaining q's is the only card i hate on the turn, so giving a free card is a risk which im happy with. It also opens up villains range and will often get as an extra bet on turn from worse hands which won't stack off. By 3 betting the flop we fold alot of hands and only really get called by aq,kq of hands that we beat most of the time. My reservation is shoving the turn folds out everything that I beat aside from aq/kq and maybe slowplayed kk. Yet im losing to very little still probably 77/88/78s and maybe slowplayed qq (less likely to be slowplayed than kk imo). Yet flatting the turn im giving yet another free card and is villain really going to fire 3 bullets with a hand i beat, so calling a large river bet is going to be really marginal. Views? I like to reraise flop occassionally tho just to mix it up and so I can mix in bluff play with both methods
