Title: Things ain't, really, what they used to be
Post by: TightEnd on January 21, 2008, 10:43:39 PM
Jeremy Paxman wrote to Marks and Spencer to complain that their underpants had become worse in the area of "support", compared to prior years.

What else has got worse over the years?

here are two for starters

1 Curly Whirly's, specifically their length

2 Leeds United, specifically the talent of their footballers

Oh and a 3rd, just for you

3 24, which was exciting but is now a pastiche.

Good old corporal punishment

really?

Agree about raisins in double deckers - they were much better.  Perhaps we should start a campaign to bring them back?  They definitely still had raisins in the early 90s

Poker terminology.

At least when I first played 5 card draw many years ago in Ireland.

Set = Trips
Straight = Run
Broadway Straight = High Run
Flush = Blue
Quads = Poker

Title: Re: Things ain't, really, what they used to be
Post by: Ironside on January 22, 2008, 10:39:35 PM
Set = Trips

both are different

set is when you have a pocket pair and hit a 3rd on the board really hard to spot and very easy to "SET" a trap with

trips is when there is a pair on the board and you "triple up" with one in your hand alot easier to spot than the set

I emailed cadburys back in Jan 2003 about this and they changed the recipe in 1986 after consumer research - though I don't recall being asked .  They first came out in 1978 if anyone is interested/cares

In fairness Tex I was the only person asked and I made my views very forcibly known as to what to do with the raisins.............
