I actually like the river and i don't play like Alex at all, his hand is 88-qq alot here and he is going to have a hard time calling. Also villain might well have checked the turn with the intention of calling riv, so I think villain calls a lot. Having said that the river is perfect so it might work. Assuming he's got something like 99-QQ then I can see the attraction in checking behind on the turn, because you've got such a stupidly high number of outs and pseudo outs on the river. (11 cards for the 'flush' plus 10 actual outs to straight/trips/2 pair, plus maybe 6 or 9 non-ace overcards to his hand - there could be 30 cards in the deck which mean he's either behind or has a tough call). On the other hand, he might well realise both that his hand is transparent and that it's unlikely you have the A, and therefore be willing to call one bet on either turn or river. Betting both makes it a lot harder for him. It also wins you more when he folds river. And I'd think it would do equally as good a job of representing the flush. Given the cards that fell on turn and river I personally think this looks pretty good I like the river bet, but I'd be really interested to know what your general plan for the hand was after flop and turn. ie are you just checking behind on a bad river (maybe a non-club 3,4,8,9,T,J,A)? Or do you think there's anything you can successfully represent if one of these cards comes, given that you checked the turn..? On turn i pick up real outs but dont want a thinking villain to squeeze me out of the pot when he realises my hand makes no sense. Are we floating the flop because we think we are ahead or behind? Doubleup, is this not THE most perfect board to float on? The straight draw and flush draw are transparent and as long as we are not in his bad books he releases AK/AQ a lot. Flop plan is if we hit a 5/7/3/8 or club we can take this away a huge amount of the time, with/without the best hand. |
