Last night was really the final straw

Sitting at my PC, surrounded by all the paraphenalia that an online junkie needs


Mobile Phone...check

TV/DVD player Remote control..check

Pen/Paper...check

Can of Diet Coke, half drunk...check


all is well with the world, I'm browsing away with a couple of tables pinging away in the background and I have some candles lit as I find it keeps me calm and relaxed when  playing.

I decide to take a sip of the Diet Coke, and don't take my eyes of the screen. I'm just about to miss yet another up and down straight draw

I pick up the can and put it to my lips

"OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I exclaim when liquid touches my lips.

I jump up, dropping said can, accidentally pressing all in for $250 with some part of my arm

Bugger me, I've only gone and tried to drink the candle!!

My lips are burning, the candle is now on the wooden floor, burning and to cap it off the diet coke is spilt all over the keyboard

Rush to the bathroom, get a towel, put the embryonic fire out.

Rush back to bathroom, pour cold water on lips and smouldering stubble

Rush back to Pc. Yes, I missed

Rush back to bathroom, consider options.

Rush to kitchen, get small knife, scrape wax off stubble

More water required, go to sink

Twnety minutes later, mild stinging still evident

Dare to check the mirror

OK, I'm sorry.  Not funny.  Well, hysterical if you're reading about it.  But not funny to be you at the time. 

Try some aloe gel to help it heal faster.  It's going to look pretty ugly for a few days...enjoy.

Moral of the story- Don't play when you're half drunk.

Don't have a balaclava for you, but make sure you get the GEL and not the lotion!

Lotion won't be as effective, if at all, depending on your burn.  The gel is the business.  I have 3 kids.  Trust me.

I had a similar schoolboy error moment last week too, I put loads of Olbas oil on my neck as I had pulled something and being a bloke I just chucked a few handfuls on and rubbed it in as if it was suncream, I then went for a pee and used the same hand,all i can say is my vitals were a little warm for a while.

I can believe this, reminds me of the countless times I'd have a can, with a little liquid left, being used as an impromptu ashtray while I played.
