Title: Re: call or pass here? Post by: TheChipPrince on January 24, 2008, 03:43:00 PM Call
Why are you checking the flop? Title: Re: call or pass here? Post by: Longy on January 24, 2008, 04:49:40 PM I think i call, our hand has to be good 1 in 3 times for it to be +ev. Also why are we checking the flop, i just put villain in there and then. In fact im shoving the flop pretty much blind with a pot size bet behind.

Post by: Hairydude on January 24, 2008, 04:59:30 PM Tough one to lay down but I reckon your behind- the fact that you dont even have the diamond draw makes it even tougher IMO. His speech then shove makes me think he has a monster TBH
I dont know how you can check the flop as it is quite a scary flop with all sorts of draws out there Title: Re: call or pass here? Post by: stewart on January 25, 2008, 02:18:03 PM i called pretty quick, the reason i checked the flop is because i put him on a AK and i wanted the turn to be a non diamond if it was a diamond i pass
he turned over 8d 8h river was a blank Title: Re: call or pass here? Post by: boldie on January 25, 2008, 04:45:05 PM i called pretty quick, the reason i checked the flop is because i put him on a AK and i wanted the turn to be a non diamond if it was a diamond i pass You put him on AK and don't want him to get all his chips in? Bet the flop next time if you put someone on AK and you hold Aces on this flop. The "I wanted to see a non-diamond turn" is not good. Get your chips in here..if he out draws you that's fair enough but saying "I want to see the next card first, even though I must be ahead now and able to get most/if not all his chips" is not right. Title: Re: call or pass here? Post by: stewart on January 28, 2008, 12:30:58 AM good point, ty thats why i posted got to learn by your mistakes
Title: Re: call or pass here? Post by: LuckyLloyd on January 28, 2008, 11:30:24 AM The flop check is fine. We will be getting 2:1 when the rest goes in so it will always be very difficult for us to fold. As such, checking back the flop has just opened up his range for putting in the rest of his chips which is great for us.
The fact that the flop is drawy is irrelevant. We aren't going to fold any draws out. If he has a diamond or a pair plus a diamond or Q10 or whatever he isn't going to fold on the flop. The money will still go in on the turn. But when you check the flop he may decide to bluff with hands that he can fold on the flop. My point is that when the money is going in anyway and we have a made hand that is unlikely to improve it is better to let them put it in first. As it is, his speechplay looks super strong but whatever, I'm not folding. |
