Title: Compo Sensation. Post by: tikay on January 26, 2008, 06:53:14 AM In Friday's £500 Freeze at the Luton Fessie, three players return on Saturday to finish off the 43 runner Tourney. With 430,000 chips in play, Compo has about 240,000 I think, with Jim McBride & A N Other sharing the rest. A N Other was not prepared to do business - at least, not until it was too late, & play had ended for the day - so they have to return on Saturday. Compo left the Casino at about 5am, has to be at work for At The Races at 0730am ("The Morning Line"?) & back at Luton by 2.30pm. He gonna be tired & tetchy on Telly, for sure. It's, I think, £8,500 to the winner, £4500 to 2nd, can't recall third place. I'd be very pleased to see either Jim McBride or Compo win it, or even chop it up, but I hope Jim understands if I send very special wishes to Compo to take down what will be his biggest ever Live Cash. Thewy did the business on Sunday, Red copped $8,000 on Tuesday, Compo should cop for plenty on Saturday, now I just need Chili to win the DTD Sunday jobbie to complete a wonderful week for 4 top blokes, all of whom are very dear to me. Get it won now Compo! Title: Re: Compo Sensation. Post by: relaedgc on January 26, 2008, 06:54:58 AM Compo has it dominated. I just hope he comes back with his mind on the game, because he mentioned he wouldn't get any sleep.
I think I understand why trap one didn't want to deal. He obviously felt it worthwhile to see J. McBride out. I don't disagree, I guess. Title: Re: Compo Sensation. Post by: RichEO on January 26, 2008, 07:19:52 AM Having a job and finalling ;reallyamsorry; there are certainly worse dilemmas ;)
Compo FTW :)up Title: Re: Compo Sensation. Post by: Compo on January 26, 2008, 07:53:31 AM Already in work!!! what a 'mare. Who thought I would last 'til day two? Thankfully I finish at 11.30....so might niclk an hours sleep.
I told A n other that he had cost me another £800 by not doing a deal...back today so how can I not play tonight? shambles. Title: Re: Compo Sensation. Post by: julian on January 26, 2008, 08:05:46 AM good luck good looking!

Title: Re: Compo Sensation. Post by: RED-DOG on January 26, 2008, 08:14:36 AM shambles. Exatly the right word for this situation. I'm rolling about laughing. In one corner we have Compo, who only had time to play this if he busted out early, and in the other we have Jim, who had no time to play at all. When I grow up, I want to be like them. Good luck guys. Title: Re: Compo Sensation. Post by: boldie on January 26, 2008, 10:45:19 AM Already in work!!! what a 'mare. Who thought I would last 'til day two? Don't worry Compo..Not like you have to actually read the Racingpost to tip the horses you're always tipping ;) Title: Re: Compo Sensation. Post by: Laxie on January 26, 2008, 11:27:17 AM Great stuff Compo!!! Murphy's Law...when you don't have time is when you need it most. At least it means a nice chunk of change and you can sleep later. Good luck today and get it won!!!

Visualise yourself as a small bat, your opponents as multicoloured, destructable blocks and your stack as a perpetually moving ball and you can't lose! Title: Re: Compo Sensation. Post by: booder on January 26, 2008, 11:34:52 AM take it down Compofish

Title: Re: Compo Sensation. Post by: Chompy on January 26, 2008, 12:12:34 PM If anyone can do this without sleep Compo, it's you. Try to avoid betting into dry side pots with king high and I'm sure you'll be fine. Good to see a couple of Luton regulars (ish) fighting it out and hopefully the deal refuser will crash out third

Title: Re: Compo Sensation. Post by: tikay on January 26, 2008, 04:32:26 PM Compo & Jim McBride Chopped it up! That's a lovely result for them both, & for Luton, two really lovely blokes, top Gents both of them. (Except Compo). Mr Other departed, & Compo, being the Gent he is, offered Jim an even split. Jim said, "OK, lets just do a chip count first". Jim had a 2-1 chip lead......but they still agreed to chop it up. Compo is whining now, 'cos Jim got the Trophy & Jacket. He got home at 0610 this morning (Saturday), had a sh**, shave & shower, & was back on the road, to the office, at 0630. He left "work" early, & kipped for 2 hours in the Luton-G Car Park. Then he went & finished off the Final, & now he's sat in the Super-Sat for tonight's Main Event. After that, whether he wins a Seat or not, he's playing Tonight's Main Event. I always love old folks with bounding enthusiasm. But you should see the suit he was wearing - Kev was right. Should we, do you think, make him an Inductee to the blonde Choppers Society? It'd certainly keep Chopper Flush company. Chopper Compo - yes, it has a ring to it. Title: Re: Compo Sensation. Post by: tikay on January 26, 2008, 04:34:54 PM In the very first hand of this afternoon's Super Sat, Compo found himself in a 5 way pot with 6-2, & somehow, all the chips went in the middle. The 2 fell, eveybody else missed everything, & Compo quadrupled up very first hand. There really are similiarities between Compo & Flushy's poker style. And clothes-sense. Title: Re: Compo Sensation. Title: Re: Compo Sensation. Post by: Compo on January 27, 2008, 10:38:15 AM Just a quickie to say thankyou to you alll for your support etc etc.
Firstly Jim is a gentleman of the first order. He woke me up in the car park to make sure I wasn't late! A pleasure to play against and when we discussed the deal he was'nt bothered at alll about the chip counts! When they were tallied up after we agreed to chop i haven't been so embarrassed since TK ......(fill in your own puinch line!) Obviously I offered to redo the deal (best bluff I ran the whole Comp!) but Jim would have none of it (phew). Third man was Kenny Wong. Well done to him too. Good player mentored, i think, by Neil Channing. So after we finish I play the Super sat. I buted about 4.o'clock which allowed me plenty of time to go home for a good sleep. yea right. Couple of hours watching the footie then into the main event (well I was there already) Had the pleasure of matt tyler, micky Wernick on my opening table. Played very steady and tight for the first hand before going on a run that saw me buist out just as the second level started, having flopped two pairs for three consecutive hands. I was so tired that I was only just able to drag myself over to sit in the DC game. It was an excellent idea on my part to debut in this delightful form of poker with Dave Courtney and Jim Mcshane on my right, hinge and bracket left and left plus three plus a couple of other usual suspects. As i expected it was a nice quiet game and during the course of the next 6 hours I ran my initial £ 300 up to just short of £1800 before reality returned and they saw me for the sucker I am. However £300 for that education, in my book, was money well invested. JIm Mcshane is different class. The tutorial he gave me during the game was fantastic and I for one can't wait for him to go to Vegas so I can sit back in the DC without him playing. So my weekend was a tale of Two Macs, Medium fried brain, and a large coke (well how else do you get through 48 hours with no sleep!) Only joking but it made such good a punch line I couldn't resist. Anyway I have had a good 3 hours sleep and off to work now. Thanks again all. Title: Re: Compo Sensation. Post by: Claw75 on January 27, 2008, 01:29:28 PM nice one compo ;D
