Title: Luton Main Event Overnight Chip Counts
Post by: tikay on January 27, 2008, 08:09:14 AM

About 52 seats were sold for the Luton Main Event, which was a 2 x 7,500 chip, 1 hour affair. 18 players return for Day Two thus:

Dean Morris, T6, S7, 108,825

Asy Ho, T5, S5, 82,700

Dave Gregory, T1, S7, 82,000

James Roe, T5, S5, 51,950

Andy Bradshaw, T2, S6, 50,800

Ben Turnstill (rooks), T2, S7, 49,150

Giovanni Vaccerella, T6, S2, 47,725

Keith Miller, T1, S6, 43,950

Neel Chudusamma, T3, S1, 43,750

Nick Slade (quantify), T2, S5, 34,075

Dave LLoyd (djl), T2, S2, 32,725

Andrew Tracey (Andrew T), T4, S3, 27,525

Richard Lynch, T2, S3, 24,875

Matt Tyler (Cone-Head/b4matt), T3, S8, 24,475

Lalit Khujuria, T6, S6, 23,850

Ian Woodley, T5, S4, 20,775

Richard Wheatley, T1, S3, 18,100

Chris Leventis, T4, S4, 12,725.

When I arrived, from work, at about 1am, & Rooks was down to the felt with about 4k - he finished the day in 6th place with 49k+, some comeback!

And one inrtrepid player played the Brighton Main Event, bust out, then drove the 2 hour or so trek to Luton, & courtsey of the Alternate System, also played the Luton Main Event! That must be a first.

That was his third tournament of the night, I got told.

I'm surprised to see Asy is second in chips. He's not usually one for tournaments.

Dean Morris is "the Sicilian" on blonde. Very nice guy..knocks around with Vinny "Celtic" Calenti"

Oh, and from the 10% club..go Andrew T!!! and rooks, b4Matt and Dave Lloyd while I am at it, gl.

I presume 9 are paid!

52? Nice turnout

I busted out of the satelite with 12 left (4 seats) and when I left at 5.30 there were only 12 seats sold!

Glad this was a (mini) success, Luton deserve it

  52...good turnout!

Hardly surprising AndrewT making day two, given the superstar field he beat to get there. ;)

;goodluck; today Andrew Matt and Ben

Thanks to the brilliant structure (we're only at 600/1200/75 when we come back) I managed to fold my way to day 2. I must have played about 1 hand every hour, if that.

I am on the table with all the chips with the 2 chip leaders on my immediate left so there is scope for progress if I hit some flops.

Quite tired after less than 4 hours sleep. Ian Woodley, Dave Gregory and I had to break into the Days Inn after the night porter fell asleep.

I was down to the felt but made a nice comeback winning one race on the way which im sure everyone in the room new about as t was against mr woodley, My AK runner runner runner runner runner runner runner runner flushed his JJ AIPF.

Matt had a sick beat against a guy i dont know his name, but it goes, limp 800, limp 800, matey shoves 19k, and matt is in sb with AA and calls, matey has KT. flop KTx... Sick.

Excellent place to be - full of opportunitues - your table - not the Days Inn....although....

Anyway - no pressure Andrew - just keep thinking about the 10%'ers - my new shoes are depending on you   ;D

So 6th it was for £2340 which means all my 10%ers get £234 (unless Dingdell demands payment in kind).

Was short stacked all way through final day and suffered two cruel blows when 6-handed. First when the other shorty pushed with QJ and cracked the big blind's AA. Then I pushed against Dean with 55 against A7 diamonds. First card on flop was a 5 but it was followed by 3 diamonds.

And this all followed getting Sapianoed in the first level of yesterday when I lost my first set of chips with AK against his, er, K3.

Fun weekend. Thanks for all the support from everyone. These £750 fields aren't all that after all.

LOL...he usually plays the £100 re-buy at the Sportsman on a Friday night.....and often adds £700+ to the pot!!...as you say, it can work against you, but I do pray to be on his table!!

Good to see everyone in the Blonde special 6 handed sat. made some money...thanks to Andrews fantastic effort......hopefully it will lead to these sats being well supported in the future.

Nick Slade and Dean Morris chopped it HU.

Dean played a great demolition game all the way through and Sladey played some exceptional poker nursing a short stack for hours to finally get Heads up.

A brilliant structure and a much weaker field than i would normally expect for a comp of this buy in, well done Luton.

One of lifes little mysteries Mr Flushy Sir. Like why so many prefer five day Test Match Cricket (as most connieseurs of the game do) to 20-20 hitfests, it's horses for courses. Some of us prefer a little more subtlety & time, others prefer the pile 'em in quick & hope style. Each to their own, eh?

Very true Tikay... I personally prefer to play poker and have the facilities to pick and choose when i commit my chips...so often you hit a final table and its one mistake and your buggered and 9 hours of hard work turns into a coin flip....if that the case flip it now and i can go home and do something more interesting...

The main event final table on Sunday was fantastic!  turning into a war of attrition with tons of play and manouvering by all concerned..i for one managed to keep all my opponents down and controlled with strategic strikes and the use of a 300,000 chip hammer...until heads up no one got within 200,000 of me...whilst they jostled for position... the structure also allowed Nick Slade to play some of the deftest poker I have ever seen and I must admit now I was gutted when he escaped elimination when dominated with AJ  v  AK.....if he had gone then there would have been no chop...

Leave the wham Bam to the £20 rebuy crowd and lets play proper poker where skill really is the defining factor !
