I just took out a second mortage on my house and borrowed as much money as I could from friends and family, I then went to the bookies and stuck £50k on Ed Hollis going bankrupt by the end of 2008.

I feel sorry for the guy, but its stories like his that give poker a bad name.

He has a new blog up, and he still has money left.

Well for now anyway.

has played 8 tourneys in July on Stars, and finished 1st for close to $5k in one of those.

[  ] I expect he kept that $54k cash away from the cash tables

His name was Ed Hollis.  A fair few of the lower stakes betfair players used to follow him round, rail and have him on msn.  He had a huge number of fanboys/rubberneckers in the comments on his blog.

He used to get a huge waitlist whenever he played higher stakes.

I don't think he was that bad a player, he would have been a decent winner at low stakes, just got murdered when he stepped up.
