Title: Bargain CD's - I Love FOPP! Post by: GlasgowBandit on January 28, 2008, 04:48:23 PM FOPP has to be my favourite shop in Glasgow for purchasing CD/DVD's it seems you get so much value for money. I was gutted when the place shut down last year, I heard it went bankrupt, clearly something was sorted to get the shop re-opened. I have since been in on a number of occasions and just bought, bought, bought. I am uploading a number of CD's from my shop and I am well pleased with the value.
I spent just shy of a £100 and managed to pick up the following. U2 - The Best Of - 1990 - 2000 The Dubliners - Whiskey in the Jar Bob Dylan - Oh Mercy Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables Fun Lovin Criminals - Welcome to Poppys U2 - The Best of 1980 -1990 Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand Blur - The Best Of The Verve - This is Music (Singles 92 - 98) Morrisey - Ringleader of the Tormentors The Jam - Sound of The Charlatans - Beggars Banquet Franz Ferdinand - You Could Have It So Much Better Paul Weller - Stanley Road Eagles - Complete Greatest Hits Now if thats not a bargain I dunno what is. Title: Re: Bargain CD's - I Love FOPP! Post by: Longy on January 28, 2008, 05:46:14 PM I love FOPP, back in the day there only used to be 4 stores and one of them was in Sheffield, where i went to uni. It was at least a monthly pilgrimage going down to FOPP to waste my student loan on cd's and books. It was a lot cheaper than other chains and always good selection of bargain cd's.
I moved to Nottingham post uni and they opened a FOPP here within months of me getting here, timing or what. I believe they overstretched themselves financially in expanding and thats why they went busto. Luckily they are back on their feet now and still when i do go shopping (i hate shopping) the only joy i get is from browsing round fopp for a bargain. Title: Re: Bargain CD's - I Love FOPP! Agreed..new CD's for 9£ instead of 14.99 at whatever major chain..bless Fopp Title: Re: Bargain CD's - I Love FOPP! Post by: lazaroonie on January 28, 2008, 06:12:10 PM FOPP did indeed go busto, but HMV picked over the bones and bought up the more profitable stores. I dont know if they are still being run with the FOPP ethos, or just like mini hmv's now..

I find selectadisk to be much better than fopp. I loved talking a walk down there, picking up a load of CDs for dirt cheap then back home to listen to them! Title: Re: Bargain CD's - I Love FOPP! Yeah selectadisc is good, slightly different types of places. Selectadisc is more like a traditional record shop, thumbing for racks of albums. Title: Re: Bargain CD's - I Love FOPP! Post by: Bongo on March 01, 2008, 05:36:32 PM I was wandering around town looking for some inspiration for a gift for my mother and wandered into Woolworths today.
I ended up with the following: Frank Sinatra - The Ultimate Collection (4 CDs) Dean Martin - The Collection Johnny Cash - I Walk The Line Meat Load - Bat Out Of Hell Live (with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra) Total spend: £11! I should clarify - the CDs are for me! Title: Re: Bargain CD's - I Love FOPP! Post by: M3boy on March 01, 2008, 06:05:23 PM |
