Title: Is it right to Push??
Post by: Flea on January 30, 2008, 12:30:25 AM
Down to the last 8 of a tourney, top 5 pay.

4 handed table and I'm 6/8 with 7 times the BB roughly.

UTG and I get pocket 2's.

Am I right to shove all-in or should I wait for any hand with paint bearing in mind I'm about to be BB for 1/7th of my stack.

I'm partly asking because I got knocked out when the board two-paired on the river to knock me out (which is a danger with only holding 2's).

Don't know the other stack sizes, and that can make a difference, but generally push is fine.

A pair 4 handed is highly likely to be the best hand, and with 7 BB's you still have fold equity.

I would push and be pretty happy that I have done the right thing.

Four handed this is an automatic push for me. "Waiting for paint" isn't a good idea. When you get called 22 has significantly more equity against likely calling ranges than most holdings with a single face card, especially when you're probably going to give up at least 1.5 BB's trying to find one.

Yes, it is definitely right to push.
