Crack this if u want to add your name to the list of geniuses;

There's a bus with 7 girls. Each girl carries 7 bags. Each bag carries 7
big cats. Each big cat carries 7 smaller cats.

Question: how many legs are on the bus? - don't include the bus driver!

This is not a trick question i.e. the bus only has wheels. You need to
work out how many legs there actually are.

The answer is the password to open the attached file. Once you are in,
you can put your name on the list and forward it on.

It doesn't actually say that the girls are on the bus, just 'with' the bus. 

7 girls = 14 legs
49 bags x 7 cats = 343 cats x 4 legs = 1,372 legs
343 cats x 7 little cats = 2,401 cats = 9,604 legs

Adding it all up:
14 + 1,372 + 9,604 = 10,990 legs

And everyone forgets that somebody must be driving the bus. So add 2 more legs for the bus driver.

The answer is:
10,992 legs

238 or no wheels on a bus

no, I have highlighted your problem above... you have used a minus sign with the number, and a bus full of creatures cannot have negative amounts of legs, therefore you are incorrect.

heres my guess, which I think is correct:

7 girls = 14 legs
49 bags x 7 cats = 343 cats x 4 legs = 1,372 legs
343 cats x 7 little cats = 2,401 cats = 9,604 legs

14 + 1,372 + 9,604 = 10,990 legs

I whacked up a quick spreadsheet and I get the same as tighty.

All the other legs are being carried inside the bags.

It would depend on the type of seats (and how many there are), and we're not given any of that information...

OK here goes

Each girl has big cats with 196 legs
Each big cat per girl has 196 legs

Therefore each girl has 392 legs

Answer must be 392x7 - 2744 legs

I think this is an error, each girl has 7 big cats (total 196 legs), each big cat has small cats with 196 legs, so the total for the small cats should be 196 (legs per big cat) * 7(number of big cats per girl)?

What's in each bag?


In each bag:

7 big cats = 7 x 4 = 28 legs
7 x 7 small cats = 7 x 7 x 4 = 196 legs

So in each bag there's 196 + 28 = 224 legs

7 bags per girl = 1,568 legs

Plus the two legs of the girl = 1,570

..and we have 7 girls

so,

1,570 x 7 = 10,990

(minus the legs lost due to accidents, land mines, amputations, etc.)

10,990 legs

The correct answer is 10,990.

Funny reading through some of the answers though.   I was hoping TK the maths geezer would have a go.  He would have had a GASS trying to solve that one.

Where did this happen? It just doesn't ring true to me. All I can say is they were lucky the bus had no other passengers on who could have reported them to the RSPCA.
Also the bus driver must have been a bit dopey not to realise the girls were each smuggling 343 cats onto he's bus, surely they would make a hell of a noise, and most girls would struggle to carry 343 cats, I want pictures before I believe a story like this...
