Title: Battrick Cup 03/02/08
Post by: Nakor on February 03, 2008, 03:08:41 PM
Facing Div 6 team at home and on paper looked an easy win.

Bowled them for 119.

After 20 overs I was 74/9 . . . . .

See you in the next round boys and girls.

I bot bashed.  Div IV team in next round means my cup run will soon be over.

I lost to a div 6 team at their place.

I played my reserves and he had some very good players (he's been playing for ages!).

My 1/3 of the gate receipts for the games was £60k!

Would have been nice to beat him, but I have the 2 closest games of the season back to back this week (after another close game this Friday!) so couldn't spare the PFL of my first team...

Roll on the blonde cup! ;)

I won't be available for the Blonde Cup next week, as somehow I WON!!!

Played a div IV team for both OD and FC

He rested a few players, and looks like bought in some crap bowlers!

Staples batted first, and being 46-4 it looked over already.

however, a maiden century for Wilks, my new allrounder, and a maiden 150no from Duke, my new resp batter ( brought in to play as an afterthought late on) meant that Staples posted an imperious 334-6, especially on a green pitch.

With several 10k and 20k rated batters playing, Staples needed to strike early, and star bowler Doyle did, taking 2 wickets in the 1st over, and pegged them back to 67-4. A great partnership of just under 150 put the opponents back in the game, however tight bowling and an increasing run rate meant they required over 10 an over with 13 overs still remaining, and with Doyle coming back into the attack, he ripped through the lower order bowling them out for 237! Doyle ended with figures of 5-24 and Duke deserving the MoM.

As a reward, Staples have a winnable home tie vs a fellow div V side!!

I lost.  Up against a better side so I bought some £1kers last night and put them in so save my starters for the forthcoming FC and OD games.

A tough game today against a fellow div V side

Batted 1st on a H&F pitch, made 275-6 with my opener scoring 102.

In reply held them to 251AO with a good all round bowling performance

In the next round I'm away to anothe Div V side, however he's a sleeping giant and should steamroller me!
