Title: Liverpool v Barnsley - Spare ticket on offer [SOLD]
Post by: kinboshi on February 12, 2008, 02:41:14 PM
I'm going to the match this Saturday, and a mate who was going with me has dropped out. As I don't have any other mates, is there anyone on here who is interested in a ticket?

First person interested, selling it at cost price (£26.50). You get to sit next to me for no extra cost...

It's in the Lower Centenary stand, Kop end.

Hi Daniel

I would be interested in this ticket.

You're currently in second place.  Someone's asked me to hold it for them and they're getting back to me when they get out of a meeting at about 5-ish.  I will give you a shout then.  If he doesn't want it, it's yours.

A bit of a roundabout way for asking me out on a date isn't it, Kin?

Answer is still no BTW.

Deserved win.  Your team wanted it.  Your goalie played a blinder too.

Bristol Rovers or man utd in the next round?

Just want a home tie - don't care who as there's nothing easy left (Bristol Rovers = no win situation for us).  The thought of getting to the semi-final is tantalising and there's a few teams we've got a reasonable shot against if we're at home, but where we'd probably get turned over away (today excepted, our away form is generally crap!)

The keeper story is one of those fairytale things.  Our main keeper did his cruciate ligament a couple of weeks ago (naturally he played on for 80 minutes with this injury as we had no sub on the bench at the time and kept a clean sheet!)  We then got Tony Warner in from Fulham on loan for the league games, but he was cup-tied for today, so on Thursday we signed West Brom's 3rd choice keeper on loan to play in today's game.  That's the first we've seen of him and, typically, he had a blinder - one of those days where he did everything right (and to be fair, he had to do a lot!)

Utterly puzzled as to Babel being subbed for Kewell, as he was running rings round us.  There wasn't one unhappy person in the away end seeing him leave the pitch.

He did make a fair few saves, but we should have made more clear cut chances, and finished them.

I thought he was poor today.  He only once beat the full-back marking him, and that was for the goal.  After that (and before it) he didn't beat a player and make a meaningful pass or a decent cross.  When he took corners they didn't get beyond the first defender - not once.

Kewell didn't do much when he came on, except for the shot that hit the bar.

Rafa got it wrong with the selection.  He should have started with Gerrard.  He should look to get some goals, be in a commanding position and then rest players.  He does it the other way round, and resorts to the best players when there's only 20 minutes left and they can't do anything.

Enjoy the next round, I'll be cheering you on.  We've got to hope we play a LOT better from now on in Europe, as that's all we're playing for now (that and 4th place in the league).

Sigh ,how on earth did a match involving Norwich get mentioned on here, when we haven't lost in the league for months, till today. So rigged.

Good to see we back in our standard away form, absolutely dire.

Norwich were horrible, never at the races

Darryl Russel also committed one of the nastiest sending off offences I've seen for a while, which at least showed a lot more committment than his other ten collegaues!

Made us look like a good team, so Norwich must have been bad

back on subject..assuming Inter Milan beat Liverpool over two legs, Benitez is gone is he not?

We'll win over the two legs, so we won't know.

But I don't see the logic in getting rid of him now, and it's not been the Liverpool way to sack a manager half way through a season.

He'll proberly be gone in the summer though.

Yep, gone in summer regardless of champions league IMO, he looks fed up with things off the pitch, and on the pitch were looking stale... Will be grateful for his services, but I think he's run his course...

Unfortunately, i have to agree that he will probably go in the summer.

This of course will mean that the Spanish elements of the team will start to look elsewhere.  Torres, Reina, Alonso etc., which will be bad news.
So Liverpool fans, who do we want as the next manager?

I wouldn't mind if Mourinho became manager. I don't have any problems with that.

Hiddink seems a good shout though.
Italians are currently flavour of the month though aren't they, so Lippi would stand a chance. I'm not keen on it though.

The problem that Rafa has is that he doesnt like to ask for help. All of our problems stem from Paco leaving. No assistant anager at a club this size cant be good. He should of brought in Gary Mac as his number 2 when he had the chance

Couldn't agree more.  When Paco Ayesteran left, a the start of the season things haven't been the same.  Gary Mac could have been an ideal right-hand man for Rafa.

Oh, and please, not Maureen.  Can't stand him as a man, although he's obviously a decent manager.

LOL - he wanted the Liverpool job before they picked Rafa.  He settled for second best then...

Do you think he would ever go back to Chelsea  i cant see it hapenning   Roman wouldnt want him back and he would go there without the money

Nah, he wouldn't go back to somewhere where he's not in charge of the team selection and transfers 100%.

What financial position do you think chelsea would be in if he left.  do you think he would come back if he had  a Fulham type budget

yes i think he would.

chelsea are working towards the club being self sufficient by 2010 (i think thats the year) and from then its planned that mr abramovich will not be dipping into his pockets anymore.
how that is progressing im not 100% sure but the aim being that with the investment they have made in youth facilities and raising the profile of the club overseas will make this possible. we will see.

When you say 'self-sufficient', you mean off the millions Abramovich has ploughed into the club?

i mean he wont be ploughing anymore. the plan is to have enough income to counter outgoings including wages and transfers

I know, I get that.  But he's having to invest millions to get you to a 'self-sufficient' stage, isn't he?

As an analogy, it's like a parent giving a child £200,000 and telling them to invest it and become 'self-sufficient'.

yep and that happens plenty of times to (though not me im afraid)

i never said it was right boshi did i ? just said what i know the plan to be. its obvious that he cant go on and on ploughing money in year after year and to a certain extent he has slowed down already.
what people dont realise is the amount he has already ploughed into the training and scouting facilities at chelsea, at least he sees the long term plan.

without mr abramovich there probably wouldnt be a chelsea now and without a ken bates there definetly wouldnt be.

as much as people critisize what mr abramovich has put into chelsea most would love it to be at there club.
