Title: Bluesq.com GUKPT Walsall: Day 1B - At A Glance
Post by: NoflopsHomer on February 15, 2008, 01:50:59 PM
Welcome back to the second start day for the Walsall GUKPT. People playing today include last years' winner Jerome Bradpiece, Dan Carter, Stuart Fox and Jen Mason amongst others.

Play begins at 3pm.

Come and join us, and as sickies Maria and me cough, splutter and sneeze our way through the day.

Early action for last year's champion Jerome Bradpiece.

He raised to 150, Red Dog called, T Lukashaugen (Scandie) made it 400, Jerome called and so did Red.

Jerome bet 50 in the dark.

Kd 8d 7s

Red Dog calls the 50, Lukashaugen makes it 1,500. Jerome makes it 3,000. Red passes and Lukashaugen calls.

Jd

Jerome bets 3,000. Lukashaugen tanks it for a while before moving in and Jerome instantly calls showing Ad Td. Lukashaugen's Ahrt Aspades are drawing dead and the 3s river means nothing.

Dan 'Eufro' Carter, who finalled last year, also has had a good start having hit a straight and a flush in the opening few hands.

Jen Mason is doing less well, she bet 900 on the the turn of a 4d 6d 9h Th board before paying off a 2,500 bet on the river Ac from Stuart Nash, who held 9d 9c.

Wishing the bestest of luckage-ings to Ms Jen Mason. Go my one percent!

As for you malingering updaters, can I recommend a Cheeky Vimto? It'll kill whatever bacteria are making you poorly, and make you feel like a hero to boot.

She's only got about 3.5k at the moment.

More than Ramazanali Abbassi though, who has just 2k after running Aces into Tens on a A-J-T-T-x board. Gah...

Mark Friedman, 3rd place finisher in the GUKPT Grand Final has taken off already with a treble up.  His chips were not gained in a 3 way coup but rather pots here and there.  A big initital coup for Mark coming when his oppo used a 4 in his hand for a straight but Mark held the 4 & 6 for a flashier and more lucrative straight.

.....................................................................

Red-Dog has taken a small hit but was happy to have lost the minimum in this hand with AK.  Tom's preflop raise called by G White with K5 and was rewarded with a flop of

K 5 5

White bet out 500 and Tom smooth called, the turn was a

6   White led out again and Tom called and they both saw the river

5  White again bet out 1,600 where Tom called most likely thinking now they were gonna chop!

Tom McCready down to 7,000.

Moving past Table Neville/Roberto  I see (and hear) Barry is all in for 2,625 on this flop (not sure how he got so low but now entirely out of character for him):

 Jd 7s 9h

With only Roberto Romanello in the pot with Barry, Roberto inquires "How much is it to take out Bary Neville?"  After a few seconds thought, he makes the call, on their backs boys:

Barry  Qd Ts
Roberto  Ahrt 7h

With an astounded look on Barry's face and the comment "How the feck could you call with that?"  Roberto just said "Well I worked out what you had!"  Easy peasy this poker lark innit!

No improvement for Barry Neville and he takes an early bath.

Tom McCready and the rest of the table I am assured are having problems with Jerome Bradpiece runnuing over them.  Tom says that Jerome is "knocking everyone out like skittles" after he knocked out Rob Stevens and that Tom is only in a hand when is "Jerome is not!"

.................................................

Rupert Elder - 6,400

Daniel Rudd (Upthe Mariners) - 6,700

The players are now on a 15 minute break in which the chip counting munks will be busying themsleves getting full counts for us - Hoorah.

Does anybody else think these updates are really slow?

Does Mick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=281) McCool (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=281) play today? If so can you send him my regards....

Sorry, Maria and I are so ill we feel like a couple of corpses.

I spotted Colin Gillon, who is on Jen's table. He's chipped up after getting it all-in on the river with A-A against Stuart Nash's 7-7 on a 7-5-x-x-A board. Dan Owston is also on this table with about 13k.

Jen has dropped another 2k after flat-calling an UTG+1 raise with A-K, the small blind also called. The flop was A-J-T, Jen check/called a 500 bet, as did the small blind, but on the J turn, both checked to her, so she bet 900. She was called in both spots, so all three checked the small club river. The small blind also turned over A-K but UTG+1 had Qc 8c for a rivered backdoor flush.

Ooops Sorry to mis inform but full chip counts will not be colated until the dinner break which will be at the end of Level 4!  This actually makes a lot of sense because there are so many to get and by the time Jon inputs them all and sends them out to us they are usually quite skewed with reality.

If anyone wants specific counts just shout out and we shall serve!

I have kindly been given some rough counts of chip daddies of random tables for you now.

Stephen Spencer  22,000
Andrew Bradshaw 14,000
Alan Dean  17,000
Dave Clark  17,500
Jim Bedson  19,000
John Fletcher  17,800
Craig Owen  27,000
Dan Samson  18,000
David Maudlin  18,000
Leon Campbell  17,500
Mark Freedman  27,500
Frank Romanello (DAD)  19,000
Colin Gillon  32,000
Andrew  Amdur  24,000
Tuan Le  16,000
Jerome Bradpice  33,000

chip count for Dewi please Maria or snoops

Snoops isn't playing, so you'll just have to make do with Dewi having 7k at the break.

Neel Chudasama has trebled through Jon Hewston and John Kabbaj. A-J was good on a 7-5-A-J-K board.

Dewi_Cool is OUT.

He held 7s 7h on a Qs Jh 7c 2c board against Chicken Joe's Qh Qc and Richard Ashby's Kc Jc. The Queens held and Dewi is out, whilst Ashby is left holding lol shrapnelments.

Pete Linton has been utterly crippled after having Aces vs Kings, his opponent hitting quads. He pulled a face, rather like the one below.

Jen Mason has doubled up to the lofty heights of 4.8k after her Tens held against Dan Owston's King Jack.

Nik Persaud has doubled up through Sami Yusuf with Qh Qd vs 9h 9d on a Jh 8h 7h 2d 7d, all the money in on the flop.

Shortly afterwards though, Sami Yusuf doubled up with Jacks vs Ed Giddins' Eights vs Neil Channing's T-9. Channing hit a Ten though to take the sidepot. Mick McCool says he passed Queens. ::)

Tony Mackay is OUT. His Aces were no good against Tuan Le's two pair.

3rd place in the GUKPT Grand Final. Mark Friedmann is OUT.

Just before the dinner break, I caught the end of a great hand for Pete (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=348) Linton (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=348).  Somehow within an hour he had gone from 1,700 to about 10,000 then on a board like below against Michael (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=278) Bolous (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=278):

 Kd Kc Ad Qs Tc

He was all in for his last 7K and Michael was deep in the tank.  Pete was doing his best to look nervous but Michael was just thinking could Pete have another monster?  All Pete had shown down were big pocket pairs, but he couldn't lay down his  Kh Js and Pete doubles again with AA to about 21,000.

Players are returning to the tables now.

I was chatting to Jen, Dan Carter and Red Dog when in the middle of the conversation, Red suddenly takes out a plastic comb and starts chewing on a couple of the bristles! Helps to keep him from smoking, but it certainly was a bizarre comedy moment.

Paul Moss lost a big pot with Aces to Kings just after the break. Then Tony Phillips (who is the definition of what you would call a 'cheeky chappie') raised it up, John O'Shea called and Paul Moss bumped it up by another 2k. Both players called.

Ts 5s 5h

Paul Moss instantly moved in for his last 4,550. Tony thought about it for a while, it felt as though he had a decent sized pair and was trying to ascertain whether he was ahead. Eventually he called, John O'Shea, whom I was standing behind, looked once more at his Qc Tc and threw it away, assuming Tony probably had Jacks, and that he was beat.

Paul Moss:

Aspades Qs

Tony Philips:

8s 8h

The Irishman let out a slightly anguished cry when he realised he'd folded the best hand.

A rivered full house for the former Gutshot Series winner sends 'Fattermarra' out.

Hi guys, could you pass on best of luck to Luton's "Celtic". Lets hope the boy can do goooooood!!!!!

He's just knocked out Steve Jelinek.

Vince had raised preflop and Steve Jelinek had called from the blinds to see a 8s 4c Jd flop, the latter check/raising all-in on the flop with Jh 9h. Except Vince had raised with 8c 4h and housed up on the turn, Steve was not a happy bunny...

Dan Owston is OUT. He re-raised/bluffed Colin Gillon off a hand and shown 6-4off, and in the next hand Colin raised again and Dan re-raised once more, this time Colin called and they saw a Q-T-x flop, all the chip went in, this time Dan had a hand, Kings as it happens, but Colin had out-flopped him with Q-T to make top two pair. Dan was left with 100 chips and was promptly out soon after, while Colin has around 40k now.

Nik Persaud has knocked out Davijay Sadarangani.

There was a 9-9-9 flop but it was Davijay needing the emergency, all his chips ending up by the river with pocket Eights, but missing out against Nik's Aces.

Can I please have Craig Owen updates when you've got 5, thanks!

Flops gone to check on Dave Clark and I'll hunt down Craig Owen in a few minutes.

.........................................................

I noticed that Rupert Elder had steadily gone up and up during the day, now on about 30,000.  He was last seen knocking out Andrew Bradshaw who had been crippled prior to his exit hand.

.........................................................

Similarily Neil Channing is scooping up some chips by missing his up and down draw but hitting a flush instead on the river against Graham Clarkson.  On circa 20,000.

Some bad news for blondes.

Stuart Fox has just lost most of his chips with 3d 3s against Kd Kh on a Ad 3h Ks Jh 9c board.

Dan Carter is OUT. He lost a 25k pot after raising a limper preflop with 7d 6d and then betting every street of a Kd 7s 3d 2d 4s board. His opponent check/called the whole way before showing 9d 8d for a better flush. He then pushed in blind from the small blind with J-8 but the big blind called with K-4 and that was that.

Red Dog, on the other hand has doubled up, raising it up in early position with Queens, facing a re-raise to 3k, before moving in for about 3.5k on top. His opponent made a reluctantly call with Td Tc. The board bricking out 9c 7h 6d Ad Aspades, Tom is now on 15k.

Red-Dog raises it up and Nick Hicks pushes.

Nick holds Js Jc.

Tom shows Kc Ks.

Board:

Kd ("Uuuuh" goes the table) Jd ("Ooooh" goes the table) 3d 7d (No noise, just an intake of breath from the whole table...)......9d !!!

lol ;kc; -aments

Nick Gibson doubled up through David Maudlin after an agonising dwell for his tournament life.  Blind on blind action with Nick in the small blind, he bet out on this board:

Ahrt 6h 9h   8c    but was reraised (putting Nick all in) from David.  Nick took a long while and in the end a minute clock was put on him, clearly it was a tough decison as he made the call and flipped over  Ac Ks.  It was good as David was representing a much stronger hand than the  Ad Jc he was holding.

Nick now on 32,000.

Colin Gillon (pictured) just doubled up Stuart Fox.

Colin had been stealing with 9d 3d but Foxy held the dominating Ad 9c when Colin was forced to call the all-in due to the odds.

Board:

3s Aspades 7h 6h Kc

Shortly afterwards Foxy was ordering a beer and raising it up from the hijack. Jen moved in from the big blind and Foxy called.

Jen showed 6c 6d whilst Foxy held Aspades Jc

A 3h 4c Ks Ts 8s board later and Jen has doubled up to just over 10k.

Tim Blake and Craig Owen played a healthy sized 11k pot, Owen betting 7k on the 9h 4s 6s flop, Tim folding with a shrug.

Nick Hicks has doubled up finally after Jerome Bradpiece made a raise with Q 10 os, Nick woke up with AA in the big blind and gave it a spin.  Jerome was commited to the hand and Nick now on 11,000.

Sat in a nice little row is a blonde sandwich with Nick Hicks and Pete Linton having a Red Dog filling.

...................................................

On a board of   Th 7s 7c  Tim Farrelly bet out 5,000 with 10k behind and Mick Jones reraised all in for a ton more (he had Tim well covered).  Tim made the pass and showed  Qd Qh.  Mick said "Wow, you passed that yeah?" and flipped over  Jh Js shruggin his shoulders.  Mick is on around 30,000.

The board reads 8h 5s Jc Js Tc and David Maudlin moves all-in for about 8.7k into an 8k or so pot, putting Jerome Bradpiece to the test.

Jerome gurns, thinks, gurns a lot more, in fact I think he does more gurning than thinking, but perhaps they aren't mutually exclusive here. Anyway after the healthy amount of gurnage, Bradpiece makes the call for a big chunk of his stack.

Maudlin says, "Good call, King high."

Jerome shows 5h 3s as he puts on his cape...

Dave Clark is OUT. He pushed over the top of Marc Goodwin's raise with Jh Td against Goodwin's ducks but lost the race.

Charles Denton: Kd Ks

Board:

4d 8s Kh 5s 2s

Charles has Mick covered for a side pot worth about 80k, and Tuan Le's little jig of delight at winning the 15k main pot goes by almost unnoticed as Mick's huge stack gets moved away from him.

Foxy is OUT, courtesy of Mr Neil Channing.

Rupert Elder is going very well with 75k.

Tim Flanders is OUT. He was all-in with Ace Ten, Daniel 'UpTheMariners' Rudd had called behind with Queens before Sunil Mistry moved in behind him. Keith Russell shoved his pittance of a stack in as well for value. Rudd folded after some though.

Russell showed J-9 whilst Mistry had Kings, the board came out J-9-6-7-Q giving Russell the main pot whilst Mistry took a small side pot.

Nick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=306) Hicks (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=306) is OUT.  No details -boooooo

He was busted by his good friend Pete Linton who button shoved with 5h 3h, Nick called with A-Q and hit a Queen high flop but Pete hit running hearts to knock him out.

Also out is Red Dog, Jerome Bradpiece made it 2.2k, Chicken Joe raised an extra 10k, and Red moved in with Queens. Jerome passed and Joe called with Jacks, spiking on the flop. Jen has just been moved into his seat next to Pete and Nick Gibson.

Floppy, any news on Ben (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=47) Vinson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=47) please ?

Yeah he just donated a fair whack to Vince 'Celtic' Calenti though, who check/called him on the flop and turn of a 4h 2h Qc 7s Ts board before moving on the river getting Ben to muck.

Is Jen still in?

Yes, she's got about 12k at the moment.

Tim Blake has trebled up to 21k with K-Q vs 7-4 vs A-K on a 7-4-Q-x-K board.

Thick and fast!

Neil Channing just squeezed out Vince Calenti and Tony Cascarino out of a pot after Vince raised to 3.2k and Tony flat-called before Channing moved in for about 17k.

Charles Ihle has doubled through Chicken Joe with A-9 vs K-J on a 9-3-2-2-9 board, all the money in on the flop.

Nik Persaud just won a huge pot knocking out the person next to him, he showed down T-9 on a 3-Q-J-K-2 board whilst his opponent mucked and left the table.

Really sorry but the 30k for Jen's stack was a mistype, she only had 10 big blinds going back after this last break.  She just found her spot with 55 and was called by 88.  The cruelty of this game pounced again and let Jen hit a 5 on the flop but an 8 on the turn to end it all.  She still grinded awesomely and kept her head the whole time.

any chance you could check what time we need to be back tomorrow maria please. I am gonna get some kip and need to know what time to set my alarm for just in case I do a womble and sleep for 16 hours (I'm sure he's asleep at the felt most of the time)

3pm once more.

Rupert has added to his stack, knocking out another player with Jacks against Ace Queen. Looks to have about 140k now. Easier than the sunday donkaments...

Marc Goodwin has doubled through Anthony Huges with Aspades Kd vs Ad Jh

Flop:

Td Jc 7c

Marc Goodwin gets up.

Turn:

Ks

Marc Goodwin sits down.

5h

Pete Linton is running bad, he was just forced to chop a pot with K-J vs Chicken Joe's K-T on a K-3-3 board after the turn brought another 3, but not only that, Nick Hicks has driven home but with all of Pete's spare clothes still in the car...

gooooooo Vinny. pmsl about the 84 hand where he knocked out Steve Jelenik.

Also bol to Pete.L and Red-Dog.

Red is out. LOL nonupdatereaderments.

Ben (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=47) Vinson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=47) went out in the last hand of the night with Aspades Th into Ac Ad.

Jerome (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=199) Bradpiece (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=199) managed to doubleup with his last hand of the night, Ks Jh vs Kc Qd. He had the face of a mischevious child that had got away with it afterwards.

Asy Ho doubles up with Ace King against Charles Ihle's Eights catching a King on the turn.

Phew, it got busy at the end there!

Full chip counts and players to appear later.

Maria is just writing up the last couple of hands, but it looks as though Rupert Elder ('Rupert' on blonde) is going to be the chip leader going into Day 2.

Big hand right at the end involving NiK Persaud, Marc Goodwin & Jim Bedson.  Goodwin made it 3,600 UTG +1 and was called instantly by his neighbour Persaud.  It passes round to Bedson in the small blind who moves all in.  It is 8,800 more Marc & Nik to call.  Marc declares he is all in and Persaud asks for a count of exactly how much Goodwin has left....

After mumbles from Goodwin that perhaps Nik is trying to waste time, Nik says he is serious and wants to now who much.  The dealer says 25,400 total to Nik to call.  Marc then puts the clock on Nick and with 4 secs to spare, Persaud whispers "passsss" and turns over 10's.  We see the hands and not what Persaud wanted to see:

Goodwin   Ad Qs
Bedson   Ahrt Ks

The board came King high and nothing else, Persaud gets away although he would have had the side pot of 16,600 from Goodwin.  As it stands Bedson doubled up and Goodwin still in but a little bit lighter in chips on 17k.
