Title: AUCTION ITEMS FOR GAME FOR LIFE Post by: The Truth on October 31, 2005, 07:19:08 AM I have in my posession, thanks to the generosity of William Hill Poker and all the players and officials who took part in the recenly filmed William Hill Grand Prix the following items:
A padded rail poker table with folding legs signed by ALL 56 participating players, Jesse May, Lucy Rokach, Thomas Kremser, Marina & Peter A set of 500 quality Royal Flush Chips in aluminium case with a pack of playing cards, once again signed by all the players and officials 59 Portraits of the very highest quality of each player, commentators and officials, all once again signed. As you can see three very decent and unique bits of poker memorabellia. My dilema is how to sell them to get the best price for Game for Life. I need a relatively quick sale, the table is blocking access to my kitchen at home and I have taken some expossure on these items (by way of courier charges etc) and need to get the cash in. The sentimental side of me would like them to go to an established P4C / GFL supporter, rather than lump them on EBay (and paying a lump to Ebay) whilst at the ame time i need to get a top price for them. My other dilema is whether to sell them as three separate lots or as one mega lot. Both have advantages and disadvantages - although selling as one lot to a cardroom or someone with the space to display them suitably seems preferable at the moment but I keep changing my mind. The one decesion that I have reached is to ask Blondites (and mobsters) for their advice for today. Also if anyone wants to put in a serious offer do so on this thread or PM me. To recap I need a good price I need the cash quickly I need the goods out of my house by this time next week Thanks for your support. Title: AUCTION ITEMS FOR GAME FOR LIFE Post by: TightEnd on October 31, 2005, 09:00:50 AM Davey, my suggestion is to offer them to Blondeites until Thursday as individual items/auction lots
People should bid to you by PM only, as if giving sealed bids therefore If you haven't received acceptable offers by Thursday, eBay may have to come into play on say a four day auction, given your time constraints To Aid you, I'll sticky this until Thursday and re-name the thread to draw attention to it Please get in touch if we can help further Title: Re: AUCTION ITEMS FOR GAME FOR LIFE Post by: The Truth on October 31, 2005, 09:37:43 AM Thanks TightEnd :)up

Title: Re: AUCTION ITEMS FOR GAME FOR LIFE Post by: Colchester Kev on October 31, 2005, 05:10:09 PM Flushy needs written permission from ginger to open his wallet, so not much chance of him getting the go ahead for a cardroom ;)

Title: Re: AUCTION ITEMS FOR GAME FOR LIFE Post by: Ironside on November 01, 2005, 04:23:14 PM davey do you know anybody that can store them to the P4C notts live event as these items will make MUCH more at a live event than they would on an internet auction
if not the best way would be ebay to attract the most money Title: Re: AUCTION ITEMS FOR GAME FOR LIFE Post by: The Truth on November 01, 2005, 04:50:25 PM Hi Ironside - welcome home - pleased to hear you are on the mend.
Previous experiences of live auctions at our tourney's would suggest that bigger items struggle due to the limited cash in the room. If it doesn't get sold or the other items (the collection of signed photos must be the best such collection anywhere in the world) it's ok, we can keep them until the series is broadcast and probably get more for each item :)up Title: Re: AUCTION ITEMS FOR GAME FOR LIFE Post by: Ironside on November 01, 2005, 05:01:02 PM i know i would be intrested in the items but they SHOULD fetch more than i can afford plus i am not sure what my friends would say to the sofa going and a poker table replacing it
hey i got a seat what do i need a sofa for Title: Re: AUCTION ITEMS FOR GAME FOR LIFE Post by: The Truth on November 02, 2005, 11:46:27 AM After 48 hours no bids. If we don't receive any realistic offers by Thursday night I think eveything will go into storage until the program is broadcast, when it can be expected to fetch a higher price anyway.

of the table mainly Title: Re: AUCTION ITEMS FOR GAME FOR LIFE Post by: The Truth on November 03, 2005, 06:30:48 AM Hi Dik - the table is not the one that will be seen on the TV. It is in fact a table that I purchased and was positioned between the studio and the green room for the players to sign. I will try and get a photo up of ithowever it is wrapped up very tightly at the moment to protect it from my kids, dogs and grandson. The table itself can be viewed at www.thesportshq.co.uk. With the folding legs it will mount onto a wall very easily. Also included is a letter of Authenticity from William Hill and a certificate from Game for Life. The big issue for me is that two lots of emergencey courier service have been paid out on the table due to situations beyond my control - note to self become a courier license to print money!
That said I will try to get a photo up today. |
