Title: Computer question
Post by: RED-DOG on February 17, 2008, 12:58:11 PM
Occasionally when I'm browsing the web, I open something that makes my cpu work at 100%. It seems to happen most when I'm researching someone, or looking at biographies, but that could be coincidence because I do that a lot.

To get back to normal, I usually have to close my computer down by pressing the power button, and then re-starting it.

I assume that I am clicking on some kind of malicious programme, but what do they get out of it?

Dont know what they get out of it...but I tend to go into Task Manager ---> Processes and close down the one that is hogging the resources...

Flash ads have a habit of doing that for me...

Ctrl - Alt - Delete should bring up the task manager, so you can end it as said previously. If you take a note of what it is that's using all the CPU we'll be able to diagnose a bit better
