Title: Ashes to Ashes..the mural
Post by: suzanne on February 19, 2008, 03:39:13 AM
Ive been catching up on recorded programmes tonight and while watching Ashes to Ashes I spot a mural on the back wall of the restaurant they are drinking in, I KNOW I have seen this mural somewhere before. A bit of googling and I couldnt find an image but several others have said they have seen it too. It would also seem that the restaurant is not "real" and its driving me nuts trying to figure out where I know it from.

Anyone else recognize it?

Too busy watching Keeley maybe  :D

Keep watching..you will see it.

Its an italian restaurant in Covent Garden apparently now trying to remember which restaurants I used to eat in when I lived in CG

This is still driving me NUTS!!!

I THINK I have tracked it down to Maxwells, 8-9 James Street in Covent Garden. I am now thinking the one in this restaurant may be similar but not exactly the same.

Anyone work or due to visit the opera house/theatre in the near future who could put me out of my misery?

Hear is a (not very good) shot of a part of it.

Not that I've spent any real time in London, but I do love a challenge....

I did a bit of research and it appears that the mural was created just for Luigi's, all famous Italians or of Italian descent. Possible based on an Athena poster produced around the same time.....

As for the Covent Garden link, apparently there is something similar in Maxwell's? I wouldn't have a clue as I've never been there LOL, annoyingly I can't find a pic to see if that is where you are remembering it from.
