Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: jezza777 on February 19, 2008, 11:59:46 PM I thnik the 4 is a decent card for you and the check on the turn has given him the idea that you are weaker than you are. River Overbets are always the nuts in my experiance tho. I am a caller but he prob shows 66.
Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: Longy on February 20, 2008, 12:07:04 AM Any read on our opponent?
These overbet shoves are normally the nuts and even though as Jezza say the 4 is a great card. I let it go and make a note. Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: Rookie (Rodney) on February 20, 2008, 12:14:19 AM No real read. We have been there 10 minutes and he has called a few raises, floated one flop and took it down on the turn, dont know if he had the goods there tho.
Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: Rookie (Rodney) on February 20, 2008, 12:17:32 AM We got caught once early doors C-Betting into 3 oppo's to fold to a raise on the flop....
Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: jezza777 on February 20, 2008, 12:18:26 AM I think he probably bets the turn with a set , simply because he would want to get more money in the pot.
Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: Rookie (Rodney) on February 20, 2008, 01:00:39 AM How badly have i played them up until the river also ?
Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: jezza777 on February 20, 2008, 01:16:34 AM Why do you check the turn?
Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: Rookie (Rodney) on February 20, 2008, 01:20:15 AM QJ worries me.. Keep pot under control in position. (didnt really work out! pmsl)
Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: jakally on February 20, 2008, 01:49:51 AM I think he probably bets the turn with a set , simply because he would want to get more money in the pot. Check Call flop, Check Raise turn is a line he could take with a set. With no info I think I fold, but it wouldn't take much previous to get me to call. Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: AlexMartin on February 20, 2008, 02:55:50 AM Meh, i hate these spots, prolly my biggest leak. You so rarely see these overbets that are not huge hands and im inclined to think its a clear fold given the pot odds.
FWIW i think you played this optimally. Nice check on turn. Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: Longy on February 20, 2008, 03:45:35 AM I bet this turn like 100% of the time, sod pot control, im taking my opponent to valuetown.
Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: boldie on February 20, 2008, 09:34:59 AM I don't like the check on the turn and I would love that 4. Easiest call I'll make in a long time on the River...and a very loud "F" if I find I was up against a set all along.
Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: NoflopsHomer on February 20, 2008, 11:18:44 AM Stars?
Pass. Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: boldie on February 20, 2008, 11:20:49 AM Stars? Pass. What do you put oppo on after he moves in on that river? Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: TightEnd on February 20, 2008, 11:25:33 AM I may be off-beam here, dunno but I hate the check on the turn
gives him the chance to fire on the river thinking you are weak/have c-bet with air..so puts you in an awkward spot with, I suspect, the best hand bet on turn and you have far clearer idea of where you are if you face the heavy artilllery there If I don't have him on a set (I don't) I am only really worried about QJ, given that I might call and chalk it up to experience (again, having like many others learned that overbets on the river are usually nuts from players trying to get max payment from a hand they haven't got enough into the pot with earlier!) Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: Colchester Kev on February 20, 2008, 12:00:53 PM If you are putting him on QJ then the 4 on the river is your cash card, call and then msn me and tell me that you run so bad cos the mug had JJ. :D
Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: booder on February 20, 2008, 12:05:17 PM could he possibly be playing AQ this way ?
Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: AlexMartin on February 20, 2008, 12:25:55 PM could he possibly be playing AQ this way ? they dont do this with AQ. They know that the double 4 pairing off makes a big Q look stronger. The pot is $80, he's betting near twice that. Very player dependant as he could deffo be playing QJ like this, hoping you have AQ and think you think your hand got stronger on the river. I may be off-beam here, dunno but I hate the check on the turn gives him the chance to fire on the river thinking you are weak/have c-bet with air..so puts you in an awkward spot with, I suspect, the best hand bet on turn and you have far clearer idea of where you are if you face the heavy artilllery there If I don't have him on a set (I don't) I am only really worried about QJ, given that I might call and chalk it up to experience (again, having like many others learned that overbets on the river are usually nuts from players trying to get max payment from a hand they haven't got enough into the pot with earlier!) he should realise that you are not cbetting weak/w air against 4 other players on such a wet board. Checking turn keeps the pot smaller in a fairly marginal spot. Remember, you were CALLED by 4 other players preflop. QJ/44/JJ are my immediate concern, in that order. Sadly it doesnt work out in this example, but thats not to say it doesnt make more money on the river when you get an easy call and not an inflated pot with a 1pair type hand. Title: Re: Arghhhh.... I timebanked for about 20 hours until i got your opinion, then called, he showed JJ so now you owe me $200... ;) Title: Re: Arghhhh.... Post by: LuckyLloyd on February 21, 2008, 04:06:32 PM I like the turncheck fwiw. Tough spot on the river. I often make up my mind that I should fold while at the same time my right hand is chunking the stack off with a click of the mouse.
