This was cooler than a Arctic gale though, Mick's Jacks in the big blind running into the Pocket Cowboys of Robbie Power (yes, Nicky's brother) in the small. An ineffective 8c-8s-5d-2c-3s board later, and it was double up time for the shortstacked Power who now jumps up to 12k.
------------ You've heard of David versus Goliath, well this was the lesser known David versus David battle. With David Boyle raising it up to 3k from late position, an in-need-of-a-double-up David Bury pushed from the big blind for just 4,425 more. Although it seemed like an instacall, Boyle seemed pained in his decision, if only because it would leave him with just several thousand if he were to lose the pot. But it was too few too call, and he eventually threw in the chips with Ac-4h, seemingly aware that he was already dominated. And he was right, as Boyle revealed the Big Slick, which went on to survive a 5c-8h-3d-As-Jh board. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 03:18:22 PM With 69 players left, we've suffered a few inevitable early exits, but the storm seems to have calmed now. My recent venture into the battlefield saw a couple of all-ins, but no knockouts. After Alex Collyer's all-in re-raise from the small blind went uncontested, I overheard action from the far table, Waterford Autumn Festival finalist Anthony Lynch getting it all-in from the button with Aspades Kh and finding action in the form of big stacker Colin Reville and his Ad Jd. Colin didn't see overjoyed about calling, but call he did, and a harmless 9c 5c 6s 9d 4s later and he was left with a small dent in his stack.
Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 03:25:57 PM Photos should be on their way shortly, but as I upload them into our gallery, action from the nearest table makes me pounce from my seat like a starved panther as Neill Kelly announces an all-in encounter between Joe Gallacher and Irish Open finalist Nicky Power. All-in with Ac Qc, Joe was in need of assistance against Nicky's Ad Kc.
Flop = Ts Th 4h "Give him the Queen," demands Nicky Power, possibly implementing the old reverse psychology techniques. Turn = Jc River = 4d I personally didn't notice at first, but an eagle-eyed Neill Kelly spotted the split pot, and a tap on the table from Power later and it was chop chop time. Gallacher survives, some might say. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: rag2gar on February 23, 2008, 03:52:40 PM Bops is the latest exit from the Blonde Poker Waterford Team Event. Holding , his shortstack needed to be stregnthened before he could be bop bop bopping again. His all-in push over an initial raiser was folded back to the raiser who called showing . No emergency card came and Bops was twist it/push it/spin it/bopping (anybody know what top I'm getting at? Okay pics to follow) his way to the rail. Team captain Keith Cummins has also been eliminated we are just hearing.
Richie Lawlor fans (I'm one-he's my pick) will be happy to hear he has just landed a monster pot with . The action was as follows. Connie O' Sullivan raised to 3100 on the button with only to be 3 bet by Lawlor to 13500. Connie then makes the psuh all-in to 38,000 total only to by instantly called by the team "fish with chips" captain. An unhappy O Sullivan says "that's one of the verfy few hands you can call with their" as he shakes his head looking into thin air. The board of means Connie O Sullivan is short stacked and Lawlor rocks on to over 80,000 chips. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 03:55:40 PM Damien Kent is the latest casualty. He pushed with Pocket Snowmen on a 5-6-J Flop but was snapcalled by Pocket Kings which survived the raggy Turn and River.
"I'm off to the pub to get drunk," he exclaims. Fair enough. ------------ Keith Cummins is OUT. All-in with Kh Jh versus Dan Bolton's Ahrt 4h, the Ac 3h Qh was about as bad as it gets, Keith in need of one of three Tens. Turn = 7d river = 6d Like a true gent, Keith shook his man's hand and wished him luck as he departed. If he was wearing a hat, I'm sure he would have tipped it. ;hattip; Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 04:00:02 PM "If you're going to get sucked out," comments Nicky Power, "then that's the way to do it."
On their backs, James Looby would have been quietly confident at his chances of eliminating neighbour Adam Murphy, his Eights in great shape against Adam's Sixes. But after the dealer popped out a 7d-4s-Js-3s board, the inevitable oohs were swiftly followed by a Ks on the River to give Adam a cheeky flush (that's a lot of runners!). He didn't realise it at first, but when it dawned on him, he could only exclaim, "Oooooh, fecking hell." A man of few words. :D Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 04:04:47 PM Remember the infamous David versus David battle from earlier that is sure to replace the less exciting one in the Bible? Well, they were at it again, this time David Boyle the one looking to hit to survive. Standing from his seat in anticipation of his exit, Boyle and his Pocket Threes looked positively doomed as David Bury revealed the yeeeeeeehaaaaaaa Pocket Cowboys, but a Three on the Flop led to yelps of almost orgasmic delight as Boyle celebrated with onlooker Wes Farrell. Meanwhile, his dejected opponent could only look on helplessly as the Kingless Turn and River... ahem... buried his chances of taking the pot.
---------- Bryan 'Mr Illegible' Stott probably wishes he'd misread his hand, as his A-9 just lost out to Dave Master's A-T to send him hurtling towards the rail. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: rag2gar on February 23, 2008, 04:05:57 PM Bad news for team Richie Lawlor. Junior member and budding milkybarkid Lorcan Dooley got tangled in a pot with Flipper Walsh.
On a shakey board of Aspades 4s Ts flipper bets out for 5000, Lorcan then moves all-in creating a 40,000 pot. Dooley Ahrt Qh Flipper Ad 7d Turn is a 8s River is a 7d meaning fFipper catches up and Dooley is OUT. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 04:43:27 PM She's not just standing up to stretch her legs, no siree, because Margaret Mahony is a gonna, snipered down by Dave Masters in seat 1. With her 6s 6c looking for a third six to defeat Master's 9h 9d, an alternative escape route formed in the form of a flush draw on the 8s Qs 5s Flop, but however hard she willed out that fourth spade, it simply wasn't to be, the 5d Turn and Kc River resulting in dropped shoulders and a distinctly disappointed trundle over to the rail.
---------- Some latest chip counts Matt Dobbins 67,000 Vera Duffy OUT Mick Stephen 14,000 Rory Brown 27,000 Dan Bolton 48,000 Richie Lawlor 78,000 Ollie St John 75,000 Dave Masters 41,000 Anthony Lynch 89,000 Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 05:20:08 PM They've gone bad beat mad here in Waterford, and one of the most shocking, or amusing depending on how you look at it, outdraws thus far was dealt out by this man, Colin Fardey (please correct my spelling if that is off target). With Dave Mahoney making it 3k pre-flop, Colin pushed all-in from the big blind, only to be looked up by Pocket Nines and subsequently forced to reveal his er... slightly under-the-cosh 3-2 off suit.
However, it's a funny old game as Jimmy Greaves once said (although I'm not sure he was referring to poker at the time), and after a 3-T-Q-3-5 board slammed against the felt, it was ouches, ooohs and aaahs all around as Colin scooped a perhaps undeserved pot. Dave, meanhwile, was a good sport in painful defeat, calmly saying "no problem" when Colin frantically apologised before exhaling deeply and announcing, "time for a cigarette break" I think. ----------- Also having his testicles crunched by the Poker God driven steam roller is poor Sean O'Sullivan. I joined the action very late in the day (well, so late in fact that the board had been dealt, David Browne was raking in the pot and Sean was close to tears), but after conferring with my secret source, it would appear that it was an all-in pre-flop jobby with Browne's Fives looking for a third five to topple O'Sullivan's Sevens. Although that set didn't arrive, the good ol' runner runner back-door-up-the-exit-hole straight did make a guest appearance, Browne surviving by the very skin of his teeth on a cruel 4-3-7-8-6 board. ----------- There are currently 46 players remaining out of the initial 124 entries. We are on level 11 with the blinds at 600/1,200 with a running ante of 100. The average stack is 41,413, and in 15 minutes the blinds will rise to 800/1,500 (100). As I write that, it is announced that Mick Stephens is the latest exit. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 06:11:44 PM After a plucky display, Pat Keneally (left) has finally departed. With neighbour John Burke (centre) putting Pat all-in on a 6s 9s 9d Flop, Pat made a brave and correct call with Ad Qh, to see that his Ace high had John's Ks Qs pipped. However, he had to avoid not only the King, but also one of nine spades, one of which turned up to the dance on the 4s River. An academic 9h River and Pat was sent packing.
----------- In other news, Kevin Keown has joined the ever-increasing list of daisy pushers, his swan song coming in the form of a Big Slick versus Kings confrontation against Dave Mahoney. Dave raised it up to 3.6k, Kevin made it 12k, Dave pushed for an extra 13k and Kevin called. No help and he was gone. In the aftermath/post-morten, Kevin recalled a previous hand in which he had Kings versus Nines versus a shortstacks A-T. He fended off the Nines to win a sidepot, but a Ten on the Flop and another on the River cost him what he claimed would be a crica 50k pot and great chance of taking this comp by the scruff of the neck. --------- Colin Fardy eliminates Tom O'Sullivan, K-Q vs. A-J, 3-5-4-8-Q board. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 07:17:55 PM 18-year old Roison Gough, playing in her very first tournament, is now out. And if there's anything that's going to break you into poker and give you an idea of the highs and lows to expect, then it's a good old fashioned counterfeiting.
Roison Gough = 6h 6s Richie (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=374) Lawlor (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=374) = Ac Qc Board = Ks 7d 7c Kh 3s -------------- There are 29 players left. Here are the chips counts for the majority of those remaining players: Colin Reville -- 18.5k Richie (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=374) Lawlor (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=374) -- 94k Ollie St John -- 91k John Burke -- 118k Matt Dobbins -- 65k Sean O'Sullivan -- 114.5k Colin Fardy -- 50.5k Rory Brown -- 81k Dave Mahony -- 67.5k John Kelly -- 69.5k Anthony Lynch -- 63k Percy Kingston -- 48k Joe Gallacher -- 69.5k Nicky (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1228) Power (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1228) -- 35k Mick Doran -- 38k Jason Thomkins -- 65k David Boyle -- 38.5k Eoin O'Neill -- 63k Colin Quarry -- 38k Wayne Jones -- 24,5k John O'Sullivan -- 22k Dave Masters -- 34.5k Dave Browne -- 33.5k Patrick Dunphy -- 52.5k Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: rag2gar on February 23, 2008, 07:29:35 PM Team fish with chips member Mick Doran has just got a timely double up. I say timely as his reaction of "now we can play lads" suggests this was the pot he has been waiting for as he now has 82,000.
On a flop of Th 6d 2d David Brown instantly goes all-in. Doran goes into the tank for a brief few seconds before announcing "call". Doran Qd Qc Brown 9c 9d The turn 7c and river 6c means David Brown is now OUT and we are down to 27 players Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 08:03:03 PM One player who always seems to go deep in these events is Nicky 'Stewey' Power. Although Dan Bolton is your current chip leader, Stewey isn't too far away, his latest encounter seeing what I believe must have been a circa 125k pot go sailing his way. With the board reading 6c 5h 5c Jd, all the chips flew in with Joe Gallacher's Ahrt Kd in dyer need of a miracle Ace on the River against Stewey's Ks Jh. Gallacher's expression told it all really, and he never appeared confident of spiking that dramatic Bullet as the River threw out a brick in the form of the 4s. Monster monster pot, as one annoying football agent might say.
Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 09:43:58 PM I'm scared to touch John Burke at the moment, just in case I turn to gold. His latest scalp was a severely disappointed Rory Brown, Burke raising from the button before pushing all-in over the top of Brown's re-raise from the small blind. Brown, who was cool cucumber cool throughout, even when asked how many chips he had in front of him, only had an extra 40 or 50k behind after making what I believe was a 47k re-raise, so ultimately decided that he was too far in and opted to call.
Burke = Qc Qs Brown = Ac Js Board = Jc 6c Th 6h 5s Burke now has more chips than an entire chain of Harry Ramsdons! ----------- Patrick Dunphy might not look a happy chappy in this photo, but he ruddy well should be. On their backs with Kd 9d against David Boyle's Ac Kh, Patrick Flopped a rather loverly jubberly Jd Qd 4c, before the 2h Turn and Td River gave him an early Christmas present. "Straight!" shouted one onlooker, "Flush" bellowed another. Put them together, and what do you have? Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 10:02:11 PM Double up to 60k for Dave Mahoney courtesy of Noel Kelly. 2-2 vs. K-Q, A-6-4-5-9 board. Wife Margaret nearly had an orgasm on the rail. ;D

The board read Kh 5c 2d when Nicky "Stewy" Power and Dan "Rooney Dives" Bolton went to war in what was a 180,000+ pot. Power Kd 5h Bolton Ks 9s The turn 3h and river 3d means Dan Bolton is OUT and we have 17 players left in the tournament. ----------- After a promising start to the day, Ollie St John (below) has alas fallen short, his A-J failing to outdraw Eoin O'Neill's Pocket Tens in what was essentially a standard coinflip. Ollie should consider spreading butter on his coins. 16 remain. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: rag2gar on February 23, 2008, 10:20:57 PM These are the current standings for this years Blonde Poker Team Event waterford. There are four teams in contention to land best team and the situation is as follows:
John Rogers 435 points 1 player remaining Matt Dobbin 410 points 1 player remaining Noel Kelly 375 points 2 players remaining Richie Lawlor 365 points 2 players remaining As you can see it's almost perfectly set up for the final furlong, may the best team win Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 10:50:18 PM A horrible beat for Mick Doran puts the once commanding position of Team Fish With Chips into serious jeopardy. Dominating foe Patrick Dunphy with Qs Qh against 9h 9d, a two row thick crowd swamped the table to witness Dunphy Flop a Nine on a 9s Th 6d 5s 7s board. His team celebrated in triumph with multiple pats on the back as a deflated Mick Doran was forced to wallow in the numerous consolidating remarks and make a sharp turn towards the exit.
As a result of that beat, Team Fish With Chips are demoted to 4th place with Team John Rogers leading the pack, closely followed by Team Noel Kelly. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 10:59:54 PM Elsewhere Anthony Lynch is OUT, 8s 8h no good against Qd Kc on a K-high flop and we are now down to 13 players The hand that crushed Anthony was against Dave Mahony. I didn't see the action, but when I joined, the board read 9d 9s 3d 5s 5c, Dave had Ks 9s, and all the chips were flowing in his direction. At that point, Lynch was down to 25k, and it wasn't long before he hit the deck. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 23, 2008, 11:36:12 PM "Ship me the chips!" exclaims the boisterous Richie Lawlor as he pushes in over the top of John Burke.
Having already put 20k into the pot, John Burke dwells momentarily before making the call for Lawlor's remaining 80k, but before he has a chance to reveal his Ad Qd, Lawlor proudly flips the Pocket Rockets, Ac Ahrt, and stands on his chair excitedly. The 2d 8s 4c Td 2h is a complete miss for John, whose stack takes a severe dent. Lawlor meanwhile is triumphant in victory, a quick thump of the table followed by the usual, but admittedly amusing, "ship it over here" speech. That Lawlor's a rascal, and if he makes it to 8th place, then he'll be a winning rascal. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: rag2gar on February 24, 2008, 12:18:52 AM Final table chips counts and seating positions

Eoin O Neill is the first man off our final table and earns €250. Pushing in for 58,000 with Ac Jd only to be called by John Kelly's Ahrt Qd. No miracle Jack and we are down to eight players. Blinds now stand at 4000/8000. ------------- The current situation is that Richie (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=374) Lawlor (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=374)'s team is taking third place of the Team Event, with first and second positions to be fought out between Percy Kingston's crew and Patrick Dunphy's gang. To win, Percy must finishes two places ahead of Patrick. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: rag2gar on February 24, 2008, 12:51:56 AM John Burke is OUT and becomes the 8th place finisher winning €300
Big three way action. Chip leader and table bully Colin Fardy opened the pot from the cutoff to 28,000. John Burke Pushed all in on the button as did Eoin O Neill on the small blind. Back to Fardy who after a lot encouragement from the crowd and Nicky (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1228) Power (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1228) calls the extra 42,000 to create a 250,000 pot. Eoin O Neill John Burke Colin Fardy The board came meaning John Burke is OUT in 8th place and O Neill wins the sidepot. Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 24, 2008, 01:14:27 AM Perhaps through the sheer will power of teammate Noel Kelly on the sidelines, Percy Kingston and his A-2 have survived an all-in against Robbie Lawlor's A-7. A J-9-8 Flop led to Lawlor pleading for a Ten ("How about a Seven?" observes Power), but his requests fell on stony ground, the Three Turn and Jack River leading to a chopped pot.
;kc; ----------- Paddy Dunphy is OUT and becomes the 7th place finisher winning €350 Paddy Dunphy has been eliminated in a crushing hand. Holding Ac Ad he must have seemed pretty confident taking on Richie (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=374) Lawlor (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=374)'s Ahrt Kd only for the board to came a dramatic Kc Ks Qd 3d Jc and Dunphy is now OUT in 7th place Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 24, 2008, 01:52:16 AM Current chippy chip counts (approx):
Eoin O'Neill -- 205k Richie Lawler -- 395k Percy Kingston -- 140k Nicky Power -- 580k Colin Fardy -- 150k John Kelly -- 295k Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 24, 2008, 02:29:32 AM Another all-in for Percy Kingston! This time it's a classic coinflip situation against Colin Fardy, Percy's Poket Tens looking to avoid a King or Ace against Colin's Big Slick.
First card out is the Kc! But it's quickly followed by the Tc!!! Then a 2h. 2d on the Turn means Colin needs a King. River = Jh That Percy's had more doubles than Laxie! Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 24, 2008, 02:36:45 AM Colin Fardy is OUT and becomes the 6th place finisher winning €400
Chip leader at the start of the final table with 45% of the chips in play, Colin Fardy has just been eliminated. Fardy was all-in pre/flop and was taken on by Richie "fish with chips" Lawlor. Lawlor Aspades Tc Fardy Qh 9h The board came Ac 9d 3h Qc Ks meaning Fardy is now OUT in 6th place Title: Re: blondepoker.com Team Event: Final Day - At A Glance Post by: snoopy1239 on February 24, 2008, 02:45:56 AM Eoin O'Neill is OUT and becomes the 5th place winning €500
And just like that, as one fez-wearing comedian used to say, we're down to four. And what a brisk affair it was too, Nicky Power raising to 35k from the button, Eoin O'Neill pushing from the big blind and Nicky calling instantly.
