OK, got your attention I hope.

I have a slight irritating problem.

I have just moved accommodation out here in Norge as the unit I was with has now gone home. Deep joy, much quieter, but now me and my LCpl are the only people within 20 miles. Hence we have moved into the best rooms in the mess.

The problem is that every time I touch my laptop, more specifically anythng metal on it (ports/headphone sockets etc), I get a static type shock. Its gotten so bad that I stopped playing last night as it was probably beginning to tilt me. Today when playing I relocated to another area so I could get better signal - lo and behold I stop getting shocks.

So is it the room? Last night when I turned over in bed I could feel the static charging up on me.

So whats the problem?

Is it something wrong withj my laptop?
Is it the electrics in the room not earthed properly?
Is it me wearing the wrong type of boots/clothes and walking on the lino flooring, charging up the static?
Is it dangerous?

I never paid much attention to science at school, so its all kinda beyond me...

You're picking up static from walking about the house. Try not wearing shoes/wearing shoes/not wearing socks/wearing socks to see if that solves it.

You can discharge yourself by touching a non-painted part of a radiator or a tap before you touch the laptop.

Could also be atmospheric - don't know what the humidity levels are like in Norway but that may have an effect.

get a new recruit to do the work for you with you directing them on what plays to make, then u get the added fun factor of watching them get the shocks

If your sat on the bed, could be the cover.  I wear a fleece in work all day and every time I stroke my cat with it on he gets a shock....
