Title: Statistic Tracking sites V Common Sense Post by: K9sixtwo on February 26, 2008, 09:56:28 PM Here's a question...
I recently downloaded the Poker Office Program and trialed the free version of it. It set me to thinking..IF i were to purchase this program or any similar poker stats/tracking program would it affect my live play?? Personally i enjoyed all the instant stats at hand but there is something i enjoy about good old fashioned observation of players (online or live) and intuition.. In other words would or could you become too dependant on all the stats and the info at your fingertip so that when you play live you find yourself lost without your software comfort blanket? Im such a hudbot, when i can't get pt and pahud working i won't play until they do. They are useful though.

The figures displayed help to formulate player types in my mind and the task when playing against unknowns live is to watch their behaviour and make judgements about what category they fall into. Never had a problem live though, and I would agree with the above comment that it may help focus your mind as to what to watch for. BTW If you are playing online cash then Poker Tracker is essential unless you are gong to spend the time making book on every player in the old fashioned pen and paper way. Also go for Poker Tracker 3, its currently in open Beta but is far better than Poker Office IMHO. |
