Title: Odd line I took in MTT
Post by: doubleup on February 28, 2008, 12:35:48 PM

Seat 1: Villain 1 ($60315 in chips)
Seat 2: Villain 2 ($18280 in chips)
Seat 3: Villain 3 ($84911 in chips) -
Seat 4: Villain 4 ($22519 in chips) -
Seat 5: Hero ($37567 in chips) -
Seat 6: Villain 5 ($24691 in chips)
Seat 7: Villain 6 ($16350 in chips)
Seat 8: Villain 7 ($37761 in chips)
Seat 9: Villain 8 ($14640 in chips)

PRE-FLOP:
Villain 4 posts small blind $600
Hero posts BIG blind $1200
Dealt To: Hero  Ahrt Qc

FOLD Villain 5
FOLD Villain 6
FOLD Villain 7
FOLD Villain 8
FOLD Villain 1
FOLD Villain 2
FOLD Villain 3
RAISE Villain 4 ($3600)
CALL Hero ($2400) (Pot Odds: 2.72:1)

I didn't push because I think I only get called racing or behind given the stack sizes - raising pretty much puts me in the same position as I would have to call given the pot odds

FLOP:   Kh  5h  3d
Pot: $8925

BET Villain 4 ($4800)
CALL Hero ($4800) (Pot Odds: 2.86:1)

Don't know whytf I called here it was a bit of a weak bet from him, but pushing only gets me called by worse and I am still crushing a lot of hands....

TURN:   6d
Pot: $18525

BET Villain 4 ($13994) - All in
CALL Hero ($13994) (Pot Odds: 2.32:1)

I've showed such weakness throughout the hand and now pot odds..........

RIVER:   Td
Pot: $46513

wow...I don't get this at all...especially the turn bet. I also hate how weak you are here. you have a decent hand but don't raise pre-flop..then you miss the flop and turn and call an all-in ?(even though you didn't want to be all in pre-flop you are OK calling an all in when you've missed everything???? that's just soo wrong..not just an "odd line") Even pot-odds don't justify your turn call here.

Tell me you're actually Villain who was bluffing with A6 and are wondering what the hell AQ fella was thinking here and then you were happy you hit your 6?

It might of course be higher poker theory at work here and I know you're a good player (and it pains me to say it ;) )so please explain what you were really thinking here.

lol stars

ai is a bit of an overbet - I really don't think I get called by AJ much.  I'm just trying odd things in MTTs I took the view that I had the best hand and just thought I try to get a worse hand to stack off.  Its prob a completely pish idea but thats why I posted :)

It certainly wasn't higher theory - just experimentation.

ok fair enough..but who would bluff off their entire stack out of position on the turn like your oppo did?...what hand are you beating there other than a stone cold bluff?..and that's 50% of your chips in...
if you had been up against an oppo who had position on you and you had some info on him that would have been one thing but now you've used 50% of your stack as a bluff catcher...when you didn't want to do that pre-flop.

That's all I was wondering really.

ok if thats the case prob bad line.  One thing actually that might have contributed to my excessive weakness was that I tanked a bit while I was thinking about how much to raise lol and then the apparently idiotic thought came into my mind to take this line.

for the record he had a flush draw which is probably the only thing I get his chips with I suppose.
