Meanwhile, other things that have been happening include my-drummer-Timur-lookalikey Dervis Ozkarapinar getting himself down to around 6k, calling all the way down and mucking on the river to Chen Tse's flopped full house.

Also, I bring you the new blonde award category of Unusual Call Of The Hour - Rahim Tadjsaadat is it this hour, for calling an 1100 bet from Dan Furnival on a 2s 8s Kc Qs Ks board. Dan showed Ad Ac and Rahim mucked, giggling. Wonder what happened earlier on in that hand...

Friends, owing to the addition of alternates at random intervals we're going to wait until we have definite numbers (the official ones will be coming by dinner break) to update the runners on the clock, if that's all right with everyone (shush, Barry). So know that we currently probably have 203 total runners with 200 left in. Probably.

Barry (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) Neville (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) told me "Listen oop kid, Ahm not pleyin many 'ands today"

His yorkshire brogue-delivered prophecy proved accurate, although perhaps not for the reasons he thought...

I saw him walking around lilke a bulldog chewing a wasp in the cardroom and I approached him with no small measure of trepidation...

"How's things?" I venture daringly...

"Ah told thee ah'd not pley meny 'ands terdehhh. Same kid teks all me chips!"

(Most likely candidate is Brian Johnson who is circa 17/18k at the moment)

"First off ah've got eeeessses." (Ok I must admit at this point I was defeated by Barry's accent and was unsure whether he had 8s or Aces)

Anyway turns out his conqueror had 9s and had flopped quads, causing Barry to lose much of his stack...

Next up Barry had T-J and committed all his chips on the turn of a 7 - 9 - T - 9 flop, only to find his opponent, (Brian again!) had another big hand in 7-7 for a flopped set.

One disgruntled yorkshireman was sent crashing to the rail with a menacing big black cloud hovering over his head. I consoled Barry as best I could before rushing off in case he decided to wreak veangeance on those standing nearby. "Woon thousand pounds for 2 hands!" he shouts at me as I depart.

"bout £500 a hand Barry I reckon", providing mathematical, if not actual assistance as i leave.

"How've you been getting on?" I ask Gutshotter Mike (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=290) Tse (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=290), actually referring to his poker career. "I was up to 15k at one point," replies Mike, obviously poised to discuss his early action in this particular comp.

"Don't tell him the hand," exclaims neighbour Nick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=305) Gibson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=305) frantically. "I don't want people thinking I'm a (insert alternative name for a cat here)."

Ignoring his foe's wishes, Mike continues: "I was in the big blind and, along with the small blind, called Nick's under-the-gun re-raise. I checked to Nick, and he bet 500 on a 6 high rainbow Flop. The small blind called, and I raised to 2k. Nick folded, and the small blind called. It then got checked to the end with a Jack slowing me down on the River. Nick folded Queens apparently."

------------

I join the action with the highly rated John Eames dipping into the think tank, the 15k in front of him and the 5k before Kevin Chandler making me thinking the latter has announced all-in. With the board reading 6d Jd 4c 5s, John Eames ums and ahs before finally making the call and revealing 6s 6c. Chandler, meanwhile, can only muster a pair of Pocket Ladies. A non-Queen River was then followed by the usual, but ultimately non-hostile "What took you so long?" remarks and a flurry of raised eyebrows. With Chandler looking rather disgruntled, neighbour Nik Persaud then joked, "If you're thinking that long with a set, I'm going to be bluffing you loads later on." He's a cheeky monkey that, one.

Rory Liffey, the flame haired young Irishman is OUT!

Details of his exit are scarcer than razors around Snoopy's chin, but if I can flesh out the bare bones of this description people, beleive me I will........using real flesh, muahahahah!

No, not really, I'll use words. I'm not a psycho cat, honest. This is a psycho cat...

Word has filtered through of some other early eliminations, those being the players occupying seats 406 and 106, aka Richard Stanley and John Flanagan.

Good game fellas

Update on and proxy best wishes to Marius Arnesen please.

I couldn't engage his attention whilst "trundling by"(phrase stolen from snoopy) his table but he has 9,300.

EDIT: ARGHHHH no no no. I'm so sorry. I went to get a chip count from Marius Arnsesan, sat at table 9 seat 8, but somehow managed to transpose these two numbers and pick up the count from table 8, seat 9, who is S Nikkhah or Snicker, as he has recently been nick-named (by me if you find it funny, by Dana if this is Mr Nikkhah reading)

Anyway in case you are following our peanut and caramel coated hero, he has 9,300 at the moment.

Other random counts as we approach the first break...

Ian Cox has taken a hit, and is down to roughly 8 or 8.5k.

Josh Tyler is possibly the man who releived Ian of his chips. He is in typical boisterous form, heard telling the table in no uncertain terms that he wants to be the chip leader at the end of the day. He is going well on around 13-14k at the moment.

Devilfish has been quiet so far, but this has not impinged on his ability to accumulate chips and he is up to a healthy 14k or so.

John Kabbaj looks to be in a spot of bother, having lost roughly half of his initial stack, sitting on 5k at the moment.

John Gale B (the one on table 12) has won a 5k-or-so pot largely off of Michael Ellis. The board read 5h Ahrt Jh 4s Ac and Gale showed  Ahrt 5d before Ellis mucked.

---------------------------------

Meanwhile Dervis Ozkarapinar managed to get himself virtually all in with about 150 chips behind on the river of a Kc 5h Th 2s 4d board, but his opponent (I believe an as yet unnamed alternate) passed. Looks like he's on 5 or 6k here, and incredibly unhappy.

On Table Devilfish, Bardi Rajah (owner of Inexplicable Cap Of The Day, incidentally) has won a pretty hefty pot. The flop is Jc 8d Tc - it Tim Flanders bets 800, and Victor Foster and Rajah call. Devilfish and Mark Segal, who had limped in/checked blinds, get out of the way.

Turn - Qc and they all check.

River - Kc - and it checks to Karim, who bets a conservative-given-the-circumstances 1200; Flanders and Foster pass. Bardi Rajah shows 9d 9c for the straight flush. "I was worried one of you had the Ace..."

Still on Table Devilfish, in fact the very next hand, Devilfish limps in utg. Anthony Roux raises from the button; Blinds Bardi Rajah and John Gale A call, as does Devilfish.

Flop - 8s 4s 2s - Devilfish bets 600, and everyone calls. Everyone at the table seems to be refusing to respect everyone else's bets currently. I do not know why.

Turn - 3h - now it checks to Roux, who bets an almost-pot-sized 2400. This is now too big a bet for everyone to disrespect. Rajah and Gale A fold; Devilfish calls.

River - 7c - Devifish checks, and Roux bets again. Devilfish calls.

Devilfish - 6d 8d
Anthony Roux - 4c 4d to take the pot.

"Why did you move in on the Flop?" asks a disgruntled Dan (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=996) Samson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=996), his 1.5k bet on a 2h 6c 4c Flop being first smooth called by Bernd Alexander before check-raised all-in by Mr Chufty Richard (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=367) Ashby (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=367). With the rest of the table departing for the break, Dan (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=996) Samson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=996), with Richard standing fro his seat and casting a foreboding shadow over the table, was left to mull up what appeared to be a tricky and torturous decision. "You've got a flush draw, haven't you?" he inquires, to which Richard gives no answer either way. In the end, Samson reluctantly passes, clearly smelling a rat but not being willing to commit so many chips to the pot. As Richard takes another quick glimpse at his cards, I pretend to look and later admit to seeing them (a slight porkie) only for Richard to show the rest of the table Kh 4h. "Did you fold a set?" he asks Samson. "Course I didn't have a set," he replies. "I had you beat though."

------------

Rahim Tadjsaadat, is OUT. He raised Steve Townsend all-in with Ac 3d on a 5s 4c Aspades 5h board but was called by Ahrt Qs. Rahim didn't realise that he'd lost the hand when the 6c fell on the River, so sat patiently waiting for some chips to be pushed his way, but a quick flurry of finger pointing from dealer and players and he was soon watching from the rail.

Good news for you fella.

James Akenhead has made slow but positive progress in the early stages and is up to 12,000.

Priyan however has leapfrogged ahead of his fellow Hit Squadder in imperious fashion and is sitting on a stack of 16,500 as things stand.

It took me a while to relate this information as there have been some suprising developments in the cardroom, news of which I will be relating shortly...

shared with us the names of the nine lucky alternates who got in today, they are
Asi Mayo - 2101
Cicelli Necmettin - 2102
Mark Russel - 2103
G Wilson - 2104
F Meoni - 2105
Matteo - 2106
R Lee - 2107
Ed Giddens - 2108
Cristian Ciurea - 2109

Also Ram Vaswani and David La Ronde didn't play, so 200 minus those two plus the nine alternates makes 207 total runners, of which 180 remain.

Shocking developments! Julian has a leak! Well, not through his poker play, although he is down from his initial starting stack but more excitingly, there was a mysterious jet of water that began raining down on his head a few moments ago.

Julian running like he does, you may have expected the fluid pouring down to be a decadent cocktail of Dom Perignon and Asses Milk, lightly interspersed with croutons of manna from heaven. In fact it turned out it was merely manky old condense from a leaking air conditioning unit...

Meanwhile as fears for the players safety grew in the face of this ominous flood of water, the table was evacuated, the tournament was temporarily stopped and efforts were made to contact Jack Bauer at CTU to come in for assistance. Sadly he was unavailable due to the writer's strike in the US, meaning it was left to the brave intervention of the Grosvenor staff to save the day.

Here we have Zach, with little thought for his own safety, fearlessly stepping in to catch the offending tsunami in a glass...

Julian was genuinely upset by the whole incident, commenting "It was the worst thing to happen to me since my dog died!"

Jen has been on a bit of a rollercoaster ride, which must be uncomfortable as she also seems to be getting stuck into the free wine...

Apparently Sami Yusuf, directly to her left, check-raised a J-6-5 flop - apparently the third time he'd tried it on, so Jen put him in and he never came out again. She then promptly lost all her profit from that hand, mis-timed-ly bluffing Justin Kean, but then made it all flopping a set of Threes a hand or two later. She's currently on an almost-exactly average 11-point-some k.

-----------

Marcus Bebb-Jones has eliminated Newcastle Champ Maz Nawab in a Sheffield versus Birmingham encounter (hostile reaction for Steve Bruce). Marcus raised it up under the gun with Jacks and was called in four places, one of whom was Maz. Marcus led out for 1,875 on a Ten high Flop with two spades, only for Maz to push all-in for an extra 2,900. Marcus duly called and was relieved to see Maz holding T-5, which subsequently failed to improve come the raggy Turn and River. Back up tut motorway for Maz.

Kevin O'Leary is down to 5,650 and was keen to inform his fanbase that he ran Aces into Fours, the latter of which made a flush on the Turn.

-----------

For those viewers with eagle eyes, you may have noticed that although most of the tables here boast beige felts, there is one that remains a traditional blue. This ugly duckling of the table world currently holds the following crop of misfits:

Anthony Roux -- 6375
Bardi Rajah -- 18,100
John Gale -- 12,000
Dave Ulliott -- 19,950
Mark Segal -- 13,550
Ned Flanders -- 11,500
Ian Woodley -- 10,525
Mark Russell -- 4,100
Helge Stjernvang -- 23,325

----------

John Eames has doubled up to 16,000 with Tens v A-K.

Meanwhile, Dana and Snoopy were blissfully unaware of me having to backstroke my way from table to table upstairs and were busy beavering away in the pressroom, sporting their spanking new, sparkly and thoroughly DRY William Hill / Blondepoker accessories. Don't they look fetching...

Another shot. I captured the exact moment Dana was sadly experiencing a severe brain haemorrhage. Ever the fighter though, she is going down battling, managing to offer a 2 finger salute to the camera before collapsing. What spirit!

-----------

Leon Campbell has just used up his first lifeline, his all-in with Sixes for 3,200 being snap-called by Kings, before a Q-6-4-3-7 board gave the former a much needed double up. Coat back off, apology made, game on!

-----------

Richard Gryko is sliding down hill quicker than a lubricated bobsleigh, his chip stack dropping to circa 3.5k after calling an all-in from Zaheer Zeb (5k into 10k pot) on a board of 6h 5s 2c Aspades 2s. Zeb proudly fronted his Qs 9s to lap up the pot.

------------

Alex Martin is now biting the dust of the rail, his tournament life on the line when he moved all-in for 4,075. He looked as guilty as a pig in the queue of a hotdog stand, but when he turned over his cards, he had the goods in Ad Kh. Unfortunately, Kai Paulsen had better goods, his Aspades Ac leaving Alex in all sorts of bother. An Ace on the Flop pretty much sealed the deal, and Alex was left to exit stage left.

Indeed the rail is alive with the sound of bad beat stories. Among the no-longer-runnings is Mr Jerome Oshea, who called all in on an 8d 5s 8c 7s with Js Ks ; however sole apparent backward chair sitter Joel Ettedgi had 8s 6s and went on to make a full house with the 8h river.

They're dropping like flies....well dead flies anyway. Live flies would surely be...well flying? Never really understood that expression.

OH SORRY, I'm waffling again.

On with the poker.

Luke (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=252) Patten (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=252) has bitten the dust....being relatively short he found it easy to get his remaining chips in the middle with A-K and found himself called and flipping against the 7-7 of Kevin Allen. A flop of 4-9-5 was of little use and the decisive 7 on the turn sealed the pot in Allen's favour, meaning despite all his "nitting", patten is out. Ok contrived pun I agree. NEXT.

Some random counts...

Jen Mason - 10k
Leo Kam - 18k
Willie (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=450) Tann (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=450) 10k
Barney Boatman 14k
Manuel Palanca 7.5k
Josh Tyler -18k

I understand they mainly went the way of Peter Charalambous - I don't really know what he was saying to me, sounded like he was saying something about cheese, but he was grinning and making the universal sign of sweeping other people's chips into one's stack, so I'm guessing that's what happened.

Martin Bader has doubled up. Eoin Kennedy bet 3k on a Jd Ac 4h flop and Bader shoved for another 6.5k. Kennedy called with I think QJ. Bader - Ad Js - which tuens into a house on the Jc turn, 6h river.

Richard Gryko is OUT, suspicions aroused by seeing him walking down the stairs in the direction of OUT, and confirmed by John Raab saying, "By the way, Richrd Gryko is OUT."

Hello everybody,

Just arrived and read all before...

Good Luck to Jen and to the other blondes here !!!

Snoop and Dana... Could you find a hat for Mr Nicolas (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=675) Levi (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=675)... He seems to have forgoten his luck with it at home ;hattip;

It's not that he's forgotten his luck at home, it's just that his luck is all over the place. He's currently up to 7k. "That's improvement!" say I. "Yeah, I won't die easily," says he...

On alternate Frenchwatch, Anthony Roux is down to around 6k.

Jen Update.

Jen is drunk. 2 glasses of wine has done for her and she spent the short dinner break with myself, Dana and Snoopy in Macdonald's, alternating between violent outbursts, sleeping for a few moments then suddenly waking up and threatening to bite people. If she starts foaming at the mouth, whichever government department that deals with infection control are surely going to swoop in, tranquillise her and take her away to be quarantined in their rabies section.

Nonetheless she has 11k and at 150 300, she knows this is a crucial level and she told us her aim is to acquire 20k by the end of the level.

Good luck to the sozzled sausage I say.

Some more random counts.

Trigg, perk up, your boy Priyan (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=354) De Mel (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=354), who I agree has a great game is on 17k.

Sadly, your other pick is doing less well. James (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=183) Akenhead (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=183), the former train driver and current hitsquadder falling behind with only 7k to his name...

Knut Russtard, is going along in similar vein to the legendary ruler as a steady tide of chips keeps moving in his direction although he obviously differs from his historical namesake in that he is not trying to keep them at bay.

King Knut marches on with 23k, his regal background only slightly undermined by Dana's decision to rhyme his surname Russtard with custard.

Nik Persaud is a little off the pace, sitting on a slightly lowly 8,500.

Micky Wernick is doing just dandy at the moment with 16,500.

Devilfish has taken possession of a sizeable percentage of Bardi Rajah's remaining chips (not sure how he found himself short, but he's on a crazy table).

Rajah limped from one off the cut-off, and Devilfish raised to 1100 from the button. The blinds got out of the way, and Bardi called to see a flop, which was Ac Ks 8c - they both checked it. They also checked the Kh turn, and Bardi checked the 6h river before Devilfish put in a cheeky 1500 bet. Rajah folded. "I flopped a pair..." said Devilfish, turning over  Aspades 7s. He's on around 20k now; Rajah's down to just over 3k.

James Honeybone will be making the short trip back to New Zealand, he was a post-dinner victim of Burnley John Falconer, who is now up to the vertigo inducing heights of 29,700. John raised it up pre-flop with Aces, before betting every street of a K-J-3-J board, all the chips eventually going in on the Turn. James revealed K-Q and failed to hit one of his two outs.

Julian Thew was just ALLIN!

Shortstacked he moved his final 3k into the middle on a 6h 9d 3c board which brought a quizzical interrogation from the other player in the hand.

"Have you got a dodgy 2 pair?"

Julian remained quiet.

His opponent eventually passed and Julian shrugged, showing 7h 8d for an open ended straight draw, as if to say "with my stack, what could I do?"

Currently on 5.5k and still on a bit of life support but hanging in there...

Marc Goodwin has moved to table Burnley-Jen (you see what I did there?  ;topofclass; ) and immediately started asserting himself.

He bets 2k into a 3k-or-so pot on a J-3-9-Q board, and takes it down.

Next hand, he and Jonathan Gotts see a flop - it is Kc Jh 2c - and Goodwin bets 1k; Gotts calls.

Turn - Ad and Goodwin bets 1.5k. Gotts artlessly twiddles chips for a little while before folding. "There's a new bully on the table," says Burnley John. "Cardrack," says Marc Goodwin.

By the way, a sad loss to table Burnley-Jen is Elvis, OUT before dinner after running his pocket Kings into Leo Kam's Aces preflop. I hope he's got conversation, because there will be no more action for that Elvis in this GUKPT.

Bedlam on the nearest table as Ben (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=47) Vinson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=47) pushes over the top of Josh Gould for what looks to be a total of 6.3k only to be called by Arkady Kielman and Josh Gould.

With the two players seeing a Js Jc 8s Flop, Ben rises from his seat, perhaps conceding before the board is dealt and sighs dejectedly as play continues. Josh and Arkady, meanwhile, go snooker loopey, Josh deep-reaching for a column of greens and purples only for Arkady to swiftly call all-in.

Arkady = Kd Kh

Josh = Qh Qd

Ben = Ahrt 4h

Turn = 8s

drum roll please, mr yellow face man...

River = Ad

So, Ben survives to take a very sumptuous main pot whilst Arkady is forced to settle for the still meaty side pot. Josh Gould, however, is left to count up the shrapnel before him and rue ever being dealt those blasted Ladies in the first place.

I walk by table Thewy and Jack Powell has a hefty 3k or so on the table, and Niall Charlton has re-raised himself all in. Eventually Powell calls.

Powell - Jc Jh
Charlton - Ks Kd

Board - 2d 5c 8s (Powell is standing already) 3h (he's putting on his coat) Qs (he's trying to leave)

But he has almost 2k change and sits back down, most probably to start shoving every hand and praying to God for a miracle...

By the way Thewy has around 7k in a single, incredibly tall stack of low-denomination chips. "Feels like 70k!" he says, slightly hysterical expression on face.

Julian has nursed his micro-stack back up to a more healthy if still quite vulnerable 14k.

"Some top notch grinding" was the phrase he used to explain his recovery. Boy's got gears!

Richie Allen ( who incidentally was NOT Barry Neville's executioner earlier) is nonetheless not far off the chip lead with 30k+, looking relaxed and focused, wearing his large earphones.

His tablemate and indeed next door neighbour "Berndt" Alexander is not far behind, holding a meaty 25k+ stack himself. Hopefully he won't set fire to his stack and score an own coal.

Actionman and hitsquad fans attention!

Priyan De Mel just found himself in an enormous pot in the region of 45 or 50k. He was up against Louis Schwartz and it was a coldeck-tastic AA v KK coup.

Sadly for you guys, Priyan found himself with the wrong end of this situation, his cowboys no match for Schwartz's pocket rockets and a board devoid of fate-altering Kings or other combinations of cards means Priyan is banished to the rail by Schwatz, who now nurses an awesome 60k stack which is likely to be good for the chip lead as we stand.

Bad luck to Priyan, K-K v A-A always a harsh way to find yourself dumped out. I'm sure his time will come eventually though...

C'mon James! Jd 5s

The good news is you receive a gold award for services to bokking. The bad news I'm afraid is James is OUT. He was relatively short and so I guess made a move to get himself back in. Details rather sketchy I'm afraid. If I get any more info I'll let you know. For now I offer my sympathies.

Some more random counts to cheer you up I hope.

Mateyboy raises, and both Jen and Graham Wheldon both call.

Flop - 8h 5s 6h - Jen checks and Graham Wheldon bets 2k. Mateyboy raises to 5k. Jen at this point gets out of the way, and Wheldon raises to put Mateyboy in, which is not as it happens very much. Call, obviously.

Wheldon instantly flips 9s 7s with the unmistakable flipping-tone (real) of one who knows he has the nuts. With a look of barely surpressed nausea, Matey turns over the Ad Ahrt and walks off. I ask Ariston (lurking near tables, playing tomorrow, drinking since 2pm) what Matey's name is. He pretends he knows for a moment, then asks Burnley John - "What's that guy's name?" he bellows across the table. Says Burnley John, "Unlucky." Indeed.

Actually I waited 10 minutes while Mr Matey spat out his bitterness into his mobile phone, and then discovered from him that his name is Mike Chivers. Unlucky, Mr Chivers, gg and all that.

What goes down apparently must come up again - Julian has yo-yoed himself back up to 18k, grinding for a bit and then running his Aces all over some unfortunate person's Queens.

-----------

Paul Cohen is OUT. He pushed his last 2k in with K-J but ran into A-9 and failed to improve. His biggest hit came when his Aces were outdone by 7-2suited. I don't know the exact details but something tells me that it wasn't pretty.

Hilarious Decision Of The Day:

Nik Persaud is shouting and gesticulating wildly. He says that one of alternate F Meoni's cards was at some point flipped and he THINKS he saw a low card, either a Deuce, Three or Four. The floor is called over, the situation explained, the decision made - it's a misdeal. "Go on, flip your top card," says Nik to Meoni. He flips it - a King. He flips the other one - a Queen. Maybe Nik should get those gigantic glasses back...

I'm afraid James (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=183) Akenhead (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=183) has been eliminated. He found himself all-in against Andrew (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=25) Andreou (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=25) with 8-8 v A-K. King on the Flop led to one tablemate commenting, "Do you hit every thing?" I guess Andrew is in good form.

----------

By the looks of the rail and the nearby cash games, it would appear as though Jan Magnus (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1216) Brevik (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1216), Dave Smith, Trevor (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=445) Reardon (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=445), John (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=215) Kabbaj (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=215), Ashley (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=39) Hayles (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=39) and John (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=212) Gale (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=212) have all fallen by the wayside.

----------

If anyone can, Tann can, and Willie just proved that by taking out both Paul (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=946) Alterman (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=946) and Kevin Allen in one foul swoop. The hand actually left Kevin steaming on the rail, and rightly so. With Willie raising from late position with Pocket Tens, Kevin smooth-called from the cut-off with Aces only for Paul (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=946) Alterman (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=946) to shove behind with Pocket Jacks. Willie snap-called, as did Kevin, but as a Ten fell on the Flop, both Kevin and Paul found themselves in desperate need of a similar outdraw, their respective two outers failing to appear on the raggy Turn and River. As Kevin chewed a nettle on the rail, he informed that another player had confessed of folding a ten, meaning that Willie was actually drawing to just the one out. Ouch!

----------

He may look like Kenny Rogers, but he didn't know when to fold'em today, Jeff Rogers' A-Q losing out to A-J on a Jack high Flop and sending him packing.

A small crowd forms around Table Devilfish as the Fishy One and Ian Woodley are involved in a hand with a lot of chips in the middle. I catch the hand just in time to see them not-very-interestingly check the turn and river of a Qs 6c Aspades Kh 7h board, and the crowd is already dispersing as Woodley shows  Ahrt Ts and Devilfish mucks.

Some titbits of info to keep you going till we receive the official chip counts from the end of the last level.

Nick Gibson, who came 3rd in last year's London GUKPT, is in a spot of bother at 8k, which at 300 600 75 will NOT last long. Expect a double or bust shortly...

Ian Cox is on 15 or 16k, which again is a tad below average but he's not quite in desperate territory just yet...

Josh Tyler seems to be slowing down, perhaps giving his hardworking jaw a rest. He's going well though on 22k which is above average at the mo...

Leo Kam's early work has been partially undone, although at 14k he has a short amount of time to garner the chips he needs to repeat his feat in winning the corresponding GUKPT last year.

Jen Mason has achieved her aim of getting to 20k, possibly with a little bit to spare as she looks to have just a shade over that at the moment. A good comeback after a shaky start, which seems to be Jen's general modus operandi in these GUKPTs.

She has just been re-located to Devilfish's table, who is sporting position over her and a good stack of 20k+ which she admitted to being a tad disappointed by.

Some chippy counts that you might be interested in:

Julian (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225) Thew (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=225) -- 16,875
Jen Mason -- 29,750
Nicolas (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=675) Levi (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=675) -- 9,875
Jeff (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=593) Buffenbarger (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=593) -- 33,125
Graham Wheldon -- 48,850
Colin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=79) Kennedy (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=79) -- 7,050

Marius Arnesen is OUT, James Keys the assassin. Ac-Ah vs. Kc-J, Jh-2d-2c-9h-Tc board.

-------------

As Joe Grech raises from early position to 1,600 (blinds 300/600), Adam Vinson quickly makes it 7k to play. The action returns to Grech who asks how much Adam is playing (the reply was 12k) before opting to flat call. After Joe checks the 8-J-3 rainbow Flop, Adam swiftly pushes his remaining stack across the line. "How much is it?" inquires Joe searching for a more accurate account. "Vinson lied!" I think to myself as the dealer counts out 12,350. Upon hearing the answer, Joe takes a deep inhale, sizes up his opponent briefly and counts out 12,350. Realising that he would be down to just the bare minimum (grays and oranges only), Joe gives it one last mull, including a semi feign of a call to gauge a reaction, before making a very brave call with Pocket Tens. Vinson shows A-K, and prays for aid, but it doesn't come, the dealer popping out a harmless 4 of hearts and 4 of spades on the Turn and River respectively. "Well done," says Vinson as he exits.

Helge Stjernvang limps and Jen raises from the button; Stjernvang (I just love the sound of that name - Stjernvannnggggg) calls.

They both check the 6c 4h 9d flop, and then Stjernvng bets out 2100 on the 5d turn. Jen folds. Looks irked.

By the way, not sure if Snoops caught it and posted it up (I am now no longer reading any of his posts, as a matter of principle), but Marcus Bebb-Jones, himself on 10k which is beginning to look a little scant, filled me in on the hand where Jeremy Longley got most of his chips. Apparently Longley had re-raised S Wan, and they had thrown all their chips in as the culmination of a raising war on the 5c 6c Qx flop. S Wan was holding pocket Sixes for a set, Longley was holding, er, Qc 7c. Club on the river, obviously.

-----------

Whoever said poker was easy? Kevin Chandler endures a double bypass as his all-in with Nines versus Ritchie Allen's A-K sees an Ace hit the 8-A-3-7 board before a third nine gives Chandler a second lifeline. Richie, meanwhile, drops to 30-35k.

Howard Smith is OUT, moving in preflop with Ac Kh and finding a caller in F Meoni holding Ts Th.

Board - 3d 6c 9s 2c 9d and Howard couldn't duck out of this one. He's headed for the bar.

-----------

James Keys, heavily supported by a now departed Dominic Kay, has just doubled up. I didn't see the action, but I did witness the following situation:

(1) Lots of chips in the middle
(2) A rainbow 8-Q-3-J-7 board
(3) T-9 in front of James Keys
(4) An elated James Keys scooping in loads of chips
(5) A devastated Louis Schwartz weeping into his now paltry stack

------------

A handful of your current chip daddies:

(1) Jeremy Longley -- 76.5k
(2) F Meoni -- 67k
(3) Brian Johnson -- 61.5k
(4) Willie Tann -- 59k
(5) Anthony Quinn -- 47k

"Great call," shouts an onlooker. "You're amazing," compliments 'The Rockstar' John (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=608) Conroy (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=608).

With the board reading Td 5d Ac Ts 3s, I arrive just in time to see Thomas (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1134) Dunwoodie (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1134) call a mammoth all-in River bluff from Terry Simpson, the latter mucking (although a Seven did flip over) and allowing the Geodie to proudly reveal his Ad 4d.

And to add to that list of Chip Daddies, we have one monstrous Chip Mummy. Not sure what happened preflop, but the chips went in on the flop, with that classic Aces versus 5-2 offsuit all-in combo.

Actually it was a coinflip, the flop read 3h 4d 8d and said Aces - Ad Ahrt were in the hands of Jen Mason; her opponent, known only as Matteo on the player list, had the 5-2.

Turn - 4s
River - 8c

And Jen is not looking quite as jubilant as she should but her inner monologue is probably going something along the lines of, "Go me, I'm so awesome, I've got I reckon 44k now and wouldn't it just be fantastic if for once I could give Dana something back on her 1% investment."

Matteo is virtually out, with barely a k to his name...

Meanwhile Aces were not so standy-uppy for unfortunate D Anderson. He got them in against the pocket Kings of Steve Townsend, only for another King to come on the turn. He takes it well, considering, with handshaking and similar niceties. Will not attempt to guess at his inner monologue, it's probably not blonde-compliant.

Also newly doubled up is Mr Kevin O'Leary, all in pre with 7c 7h against Andy Greekfish's Ac Ks.

Board an unbelievable (imagine accompanying oohs and ahhhhs) Qh Ahrt Th 6h Jc.

Says Mr Greekfish, "You sick ****er!" And who can blame him. Much giggling.

ok,

some Jen's updates ?

some Devilfish's and Nicolas (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=675) Levi (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=675)'s too ?

Not sure about Devilfish or Nicholas, I'll be back with those counts in a bit, but Jen herself has pulled well into the reckoning with a handsome stack that is around the 54k mark I believe.

I was sure that the cumulative avalanche of chips gravitating with almost inevitable accuracy toward Jen's stack would result in her delivering me a soundbite that was full of poise, confidence and verve.

This was her grandiloquent statement.

"Biscuits, like bring me biscuits man. I need biscuits, seriously, like just give me some biscuits. Please!!!"

There we have it. Jen employing all the literary, imaginative skills at her disposal to ask for some bloody digestives. The cat is happy to turn waiter though, if it increases Jen's chances.

"Ok Jen, they're on their way."

Other assorted counts from the midst of the arena.

Kevin O'Leary 37k
Bambos 33k
Marc Goodwin 16k, although he seemed more interesting in Pietersen smashing a kiwi spinner for 6, the nearby TV showing footage of the current England New Zealand game. ;slavedriver; Marc!
Anthony Quinn 49k
Nick Gibson 8.5k
Ian Cox 11.5k
Richie Allen 27k

There are moments left before the end of level 9, where there will be a short hiatus where the players can rest their weary limbs (and stuff their faces with biscuits)

The Rise and Fall of Bambos

After eliminating Andrew Andreou with A-T versus A-J on a 9-T-3-A-2 board, Bambos' near 50k stack then went hurtling towards the now chip leader Brian Johnson. I didn't personally catch the hand in question, but according to my source, it was a Big Slick versus Queens affair with all the chips flying in on a Jack high Flop. As a result, a stunned Bambos is on his way home (well, the cash game) whilst Brian Johnson jumps into the lead with well over 100k in chips.

Those requested updates and current chip counts -

Devilfish has around 50k, although it looks like more because they're largely in low-denomination chips. Young girlfriend is nowhere to be seen, although he keeps nipping off somewhere so she may be in the bar or similar.

Nicolas Levi, I'm afraid, is nowhere to be seen, presumed for the moment busted.

Terry Simpson - around 35k.

Jen has been adding to her hefty stack with probably alarming regularity. She took a 6k pot out of the mouths of the children of Ashley Gorman, betting 4.5k on an 8s Jd Ac flop.

A few hands later she took a similar-sized pile of chips away from the elderly ailing parents of Jeremy Longley, calling his 4k utg raise, and then, after checking down the 3c 6h 6c 2h 3h board, delightedly discovering that that her Ac Qc was good.

With just five minutes left on the clock, James Keys has just eliminated Kerry Taylor, the youngster finding his Sevens in water hotter than the sun against Taylor's Pocket Snowman. However, Keys hit a third Seven on the 9s Qc 5s 7c 2h board to take down what must have been a near 50k pot.

-----------------

Ian 'Mr Invincible' Cox has been in the thick of it during these very late stages. He just shot down Wilson Chan, A-T versus 8-8 followed by a thrilling J-Q-K-8 board...

River was a blank.

After being down to just 3k early doors, Coxy has now sprung up to the dizzy heights of 30k.

Post by: JungleCat03 on March 07, 2008, 12:59:42 AM
James Keys just made a big re-raise of Kerry Taylor's initial raise. After some thought Taylor called...

He flipped over 8-8 and the look of horror written across James' face told the story before his cards were even turned over...

"7-7" someone asked, and indeed James turned over 7-7. The pot was in the region of 50k, a biggie at this late stage of the day...

5-Q-9 came the harmless looking flop.

BUT a 7 on the turn drew a sharp intake of breath from the watching rail, before a solitary blank 2 on the river concluded the hand and gifted the pot to James.

James raised his hand as a gesture of apology to Kerry, who just raised his eyebrows, shook his head, picked up his coat and left the arena 2 minutes before play was due to terminate.

"Sick hand...SICK" commented one of his tablemates rather obviously and James did his best maintain an outward visage of embarrassment at his good fortune whereas in fact his head was filled with this...

Fair enough. All of us who play poker have been both sides of this metaphorical fence. We've been sucked out on royally for a crucial pot and felt like the damned, or have won a crucial pot at a crucial stage and felt like we were blessed and if we cut ourselves, liquid gold, bejeweled with fine cut diamonds would pour out.

It's why we play the game surely!

That Coxy is at it again! This time the unfortunate victim was Stephen (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=804) Holden (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=804), the Brummie pushing over the top of Ian's initial 1.2k raise for 5.9k more. "I'm gonna take a shot," announces Ian, semi-reluctantly calling with 7s 7c. Perhaps knowing his fate, Holden flipped Aspades Kh and promptly left after the dealer dealt out a Cox-friendly 8c 8h Js 7h 9s board. This Coxy's so greedy, always hitting the near nuts in these races. Isn't one pair good enough?!

--------------

At the very death, we lost blondeite Graham Wheldon who found himself all-in on a Flop of 4c 4c 5d against the 100k+ stack of Talal Shakerchi.

Talal = Ac 9c

Graham = 3s 2d

Turn = Ks

River = Tc

When you're hot, you're hot, but whilst Talal finds himself in the top two, that's all she wrote for Grahama who finishes the day on a downer.
