Title: Yearly Salary
Post by: Montinino on March 07, 2008, 12:29:07 PM
Hello guys

Just a quick question to those 'professionals'' amongst us.

How much would you say your yearly ''salary'' from poker is. As in how much profit do you actually take a year so to speak.

Just curious really of the amounts fo money your actually making and the stakes you play at

no disrespect my friend..but..would you walk into an office or party and ask the same question to everybody that worked there? How much money do you make and what do you actually do?

I know one thing for sure, that there are a few (probably millions) who will have worked an extra day this year for no extra pay..  ;gobsmacked;

You mean there are millions who get an extra day's pay each year for three years, and then only work it every fourth year?

Boldie has this spot on. Firstly im not sure anyone is going to come on here and say because

(a) It may come across as a brag post
(b) Though poker players tend to be more open about earnings (even if in some cases it is quite distant from the truth), declaring yearly earnings is a touch personal.
(c) The games are changing so rapidly online that estimating winrates is a sod.

With abit of googling, searching though blogs you will find some sensible answers.

If you want to see some bragging mainly from our us friends, 2p2 is your best bet.

There are less working days this year than last......

Like everyone says hardly likely people are going to say how much they make, only close friends know my numbers.

Are there any threads that show 1m + losing graphs. That would be so much more ballin' and impressive.

Was reading about a young player (forgotten his name, but that doesn't matter - someone will know it) who just played Phil Ivey on the Thunderdome table and dropped $500K in the session to Ivey.  Don't have the magazine to hand, as I was reading it at DTD.

It was saying in the article that this player had won $4 million in a 12 month period, secured a sponsorship deal with FT, but then went on a losing streak and is now in the red.  That's a hell of a losing streak.

Prob Niki 'KaiBuxxe' Jedlicka

won $3m+ at 200/400 PLO as Kaibuxxe then got his own name in red and lost at least $1.5m

Although the web sites that track PLO dont show any winnings or losings at FLHE that he was rumoured to play as well.

Yea its Niki he does have a big variance .It does seem that Ivey is his nemesis. I do not think he is too worried rumours were flying last summer of larger plusses probably true. They are on a different planet these guys and all I can say is do not believe what you read in these magazines most of the profiles I have read about people I know are total garbage.and the figures used are cherry picked.
