Yes it is good news, would be intrigued to hear more about it, but fantastic news.

Yes. After the Madeline McCann story got out of hand, the press have been noticeably playing a straight bat with this story, considering there was obviously more to it than a standard child abduction. They also made a big deal out of keeping the story in the news when, pre-Madeleline, a missing child from a family this rough and ugly would have dropped out of the headlines very quickly.

7 kids, 5 different fathers, odds that it was one of the fathers ??

must be great to be so perfect? so you are saying if, in your opinion a family are 'rough and ugly' they dont make the news even if its a child whos been abducted?

exactly and money is not what we should judge people on if we judge them at all.  even a mother who has lots of children to different fathers is just as worthy as anyone else in my book. children are the worlds future and to hear what andrew said made me feel slightly irritated......

I hope so and imo there is no 'standard child abduction' these things are not ten a penny, they are warped and out of the ordinary and equally as important as each other.

I think in Yorkshire they call a spade a spade, so I wouldn't worry about labeling them what they are.

I do think they got alot of press though, people are trying to make a story out of the differences in the two missing kids family's when no one cares. It should be about the kid.

Yes, ACE2M read my post the way it was intended. I'm not saying 'Shannon's family are poor and rough looking - sod them'. I'm saying that is the way (unfairly) that the media have classically approached these types of stories.

 Madeline was pretty, with parents who were good-looking middle class doctors. Tabloid gold. The contrast with Shannon is huge. The papers would have dropped the Shannon story after a couple of days if it had not been for the fact they knew they'd be criticised as even the least media savvy reader would have said 'how come this girl is not getting ten pages every day for 6 months like Madeline?'

For any stories like this then the media should only report on actual news as it is relevant, not by thier idea of public interest. News of events like this should be for public awareness not public entertainment.

Not really, considering the man arrested is related to her stepfather, so there is a chance he may be involved, she can hardly live at home.

Really hope this isn't the case, but in the vast majority of child kidnaps there is usually an element of abuse by the perpetrator.
