Post by: EvilPie on March 17, 2008, 09:33:38 AM There's no escape here unless you're some kind of poker god.
Maybe in a tournament you could get away if you're ultra tight and have got a good read but in cash there's just no way. Unlucky Title: Re: Have I made a mistake here ? Post by: boldie on March 17, 2008, 10:07:35 AM Just unlucky my friend. I never ever fold bottom set here.
Title: Re: Have I made a mistake here ? Post by: LeKnave on March 17, 2008, 10:24:45 AM cooler. just unlucky.
Title: Re: Have I made a mistake here ? Post by: bhoywonder on March 17, 2008, 10:36:35 AM as the guys said

Post by: jpean on March 17, 2008, 10:38:00 AM In fact, I knew her range... she only could have JJ, QQ, or KK (or AA)... but, even knowing that, I moved in hoping she didn't have what she had cause in the Phil Gordon's book, I remember he say (sorry I've it in French) something like :
"When I flop a set, I don't never mind if someone has a better one. that's happens one time to 100, so with that odd, I'm happy to risk everything" But even knowing that, I knew her range... so the decision was hardier... Your man Gordon was right. Title: Re: Have I made a mistake here ? Post by: jpean on March 17, 2008, 10:53:10 AM Ok, I understand what you mean...
thanks guys ! Title: Re: Have I made a mistake here ? Post by: geeforce1 on March 17, 2008, 11:01:38 AM There's no escape here unless you're some kind of poker god. Maybe in a tournament you could get away if you're ultra tight and have got a good read but in cash there's just no way. Unlucky i think this theory is flawed. in a tourny the blind structure increases the pressure on chips, therefore IMO you must be more willing to go with your hand (u are killing his range). the days of tourny chips being precious are long gone. although in this case my chips would be long gone, cash or MTT Title: Re: Have I made a mistake here ? I don't think I'd have got away from it. It'd have to be a very slow structure tournament (2 days, 45/60 min blinds) early stages to get away but even then I'd struggle to find a reason. I think I'd be more scared of the 9, 10 for the straight than the other trips, you just don't see it that often. I do think my tournament chips are precious though. I'm not giving them up without a fight ;D Title: Re: Have I made a mistake here ? Bear in mind that 4-way they might not be inclined to overplay an overpair as much, which lightens QQ/KK from their range. People still play aces like theres no tomorrow however. Thx... but that is exactly what is sometimes annoying in poker : well playing and loosing... (hopefully not always !) Title: Re: Have I made a mistake here ? Post by: mondatoo on March 19, 2008, 09:10:06 PM Would every1 be folding qq or kk on this flop don't think i would be.By reading your 2 pha topics it seems you are doubting your play when both times you just got clod deck and unless your super super tight you aint folding.
Title: Re: Have I made a mistake here ? Post by: jpean on March 19, 2008, 09:14:38 PM You're right, when I play tournements, I'm very very tight, ..
maybe I should'nt, but these days playing like that made me being paid 3 times in a row ... but in cash games, I'm not so tight before the flop, and I "re-tight" after...
