Going tommorrow for 4 days with the girlfriend, any tips etc, places to see, places to avoid?

Went on a lads holiday there early 06. To be fair we didn't see much but the inside of loads of pubs, apart from the Macau sporting club which is good for poker.

We had a bit bother for being English but we were 5 lads out on the lash and to be fair when they realised we weren't idiots, things calmed down.

We only live an hour away from the city, but rarely get there.  When we do bother to make the effort we head for Kinsale.  When we have visitors we take them to Cobh (Titanic's last stop before that fateful trip) and Blarney Castle.  As for the city itself...make sure you take a walk through the English Market.  I NEVER go near the city without stopping in there for a bit of food shopping and the odd t-shirt for the crew.  They have a tiny award winning restaurant upstairs that is packed from 1-2pm.  All of the food is supplied from the vendors downstairs (so it's super fresh) and if you decide you'd like to eat there, be sure to check in early (around noon) to make a reservation or get on the waiting list. 

If you want to spend a day in Killarney (about 1 hour from Cork) there's loads to do there as well and they have a tourist office in the centre of town with everything listed.  Torc Waterfall is one of our favourite places to visit.

As for night life and that in Cork City.  Leave it with me and I'll get a list of places to go from some college friends who know the place inside and out.  Will have it within the hour.

Was told the best place to go for nights out is around the court house.  Loads of good pubs and clubs all within 5 minutes of each other (walking).  If you need more help I can give you our number and you can ring when you get here.  Just give me a shout in a pm and I'll send it on.
