Title: Well done (McCanns) Post by: boldie on March 19, 2008, 10:02:58 AM Respect where it's due, Well done for getting the apology from the filth that is the tabloids. The money is only peanuts obviously as the papers made millions off the back of this but good for them that they had he balls to take on the ussually untouchable British "media" and won. Maybe if everybody started standing up to the tabloids the media would become half decent in the UK.

Stop buying the crap ones and they'll stop printing crap. agreed..I have a plan..everyone who buys a tabloid should get a kick in the crotch when they pay for it, to "go with their paper". Sort of a Pavlovian "reward" scheme. Title: Re: Well done (McCanns) Post by: steeveg on March 19, 2008, 10:46:25 AM :goodpost:
over the years i have stopped buying different newspapers, what's the point of not being able to trust what you are reading, the papers want headlines and stories which are sensational to sell papers, giving no thought to what effect this will have on the person and his family, if they just print the facts i will make my own opinion, when they go way over the top consistently i just get peed off and dont bother buying there paper anymore, its the only thing they understand Title: Re: Well done (McCanns) Post by: matt674 on March 19, 2008, 11:20:36 AM and what if it turns out that the papers were right..................
Title: Re: Well done (McCanns) Post by: boldie on March 19, 2008, 11:48:00 AM and what if it turns out that the papers were right.................. doesn't matter..you can not go around accusing people of crap. That is the whole point. The papers should not accuse people of things..they should report the facts. If it turns out the McCanns are guilty, and they are taken to court over it then the papers can report on it. Neither the McCanns were ever charged (thusfar) nor was that other guy in this case (Robert Murat) and the papers really destroyed that guys life over this. I reckon he too should sue the crap out of them and get paid a fortune in compensation. It is not the job of the media to throw around accusations. Nor is it the job of the media to dig up dirt on someone they simply don't like. (Also not uncommon) The media should not make the news but they should report it. Admittedly I am rather old-fashioned when it comes to these things but there ya go. Title: Re: Well done (McCanns) Post by: steeveg on March 19, 2008, 12:10:23 PM and what if it turns out that the papers were right.................. i wish it was as simple as being the truth or a lie, if they printed reports which where lies they would be sued, but sometimes its not a matter of if there right or wrong ,but just a evil and distorted view on a person or news report they know to be exaggerated which do damage beyond repair to peoples lives just to sell papers, but these articles can be put down to opinion and freedom of speech, that's why they have been getting away with destroying people for yearsTitle: Re: Well done (McCanns) Post by: boldie on March 19, 2008, 12:11:19 PM Admittedly I am rather old-fashioned when it comes to these things but there ya go. i'll bet you subscribe to sky though and they are worse than the all the tabloids put together................ Rupert Murdoch is the devil incarnate (mainly for his work behind the scenes of politics)..there is no doubt in my mind about that. But other then Mr Murdoch being evil I don't quite see how Sky is worse than all tabloids put together, would be interested hearing your views on that one. (BTW, I do not watch Sky News as I found it to be as shit as BBC news 24) Title: Re: Well done (McCanns) Post by: steeveg on March 19, 2008, 12:24:23 PM i have sky myself, i have found sky news very good, just reporting the facts and letting me make my own opinion, i agree this is unusual for rupert murdoch, but i have not got a problem with sky over there news reporting

Very gossipy and I simply don't give a crap about what happens to Britney Spears or if Madonna wants to buy another baby. Title: Re: Well done (McCanns) Post by: pokerram on March 19, 2008, 09:29:21 PM Was it not true the mcanns left the children on there own. I know if over here I would surely be facing a charge. But your right in tabloids always fabricating

Title: Re: Well done (McCanns) Post by: celtic on March 19, 2008, 11:29:04 PM if they had looked after their children properly in the first place then they had needn't have worried about what the papers would write about them.
Bollocks in my opinion. Another 500k to spend 'looking' for someone who quite clearly isnt going to be found. nice timing tho. year anniversary coming up and all that. wp Title: Re: Well done (McCanns) Post by: boldie on March 20, 2008, 09:00:12 AM Respect where it's due, Well done for getting the apology from the filth that is the tabloids. There is surely a MASSIVE difference between saying "I left my kid" and a newspaper claiming "YOU KILLED HER AND HID HER BODY!"? Come on!..how can people not see that? Exactly this is why the newspaper reports that criticised their actual actions didn't result in libel - only the cretins who just made stuff up without any evidence were sued.
