Title: Help! Post by: Montinino on March 19, 2008, 05:40:01 PM Hello All
I play poker almost every day pretty much with my friends. I am generally the most consistent player there. fleecing them of over £5000 in the last year, no i dont feel bad as we do play high stakes. I also try to get down to Luton 2 or 3 times a month to play on the cash tables there and always walk away with profit. Now my main problem is online, i just cannot make a profit on here, i dont know what it is, i just cannot win. Anyone give some pointers? Title: Re: Help! People's biggest failing when playing online is not concentrating properly. They'll play whilst surfing/chatting on MSN/watching TV, so they're not playing optimally. Title: Re: Help! Post by: Longy on March 20, 2008, 06:23:39 PM Live and online are two different things, while we are playing the same game there are massive differences.
Comparing similar limits online and live especially in cash is just lol. The online games are so much tougher its untrue. Seriously live 1/2NL games play like .05/.1 online. The games play different as well online games are often very tight aggressive and live games are more often loose passive. You have to adjust your strategies to deal with the flow of the game. Also your opponents online often have any number of software tools, telling you how you statistically play whereas live players are relying on memory and reads. Viewing the game different online is a problem, clicking a mouse to make a big call is alot easier to do than putting real money/chips across the line in a live game. The money seems more real and so perhaps you are not concentrating fully online and subconciously not taking it as seriously. Of all these points the 1st one is easily the most relevant, it might sound harsh but in all likeliness you are techinally not good enough to beat the online games. Title: Re: Help! Post by: Gryff on March 20, 2008, 06:48:05 PM You probably need to click the mouse a lot harder, I recommend getting a grip exerciser and working on your finger strength.

Title: Re: Help! Post by: Benny Brox on March 21, 2008, 10:46:32 PM Table selection is crucial as well. It's hard to find a choice of live games but online you can move about tables no problem. After sitting down for the first few orbits you should have a good feel for the table so you can decide if it's best to stay or go, and if you're getting outplayed, don't be stubborn, get up and find a table where you may have an edge. Took me a long time to appreciate this.
Also if you're playing cash games, play the 6-max tables, you'll be able to get a better analysis on your opponents and is much more fun. |
