Title: spam email?? Post by: bhoywonder on March 20, 2008, 10:30:38 AM im no expert on spam/dodgy emails,I thought i was immune to em but i got one this morning
from paypal telling me i just purchased a gold bracelet for $100,and if there is a problem ,if i dispute the sale ( why would i , if i bought it ?? ),then just click this link ,to some obscure email address>? I checked my paypal account and nothing going on there nor on ebay? dodgy spam email?? or a kinda phishing email>? Title: Re: spam email?? Post by: Laxie on March 20, 2008, 10:32:50 AM Yes it's spam. Post by: Grey_Pete on March 22, 2008, 11:51:11 PM A quick word of warning on these, people are getting quite clever by registering web addresses that are very similar to e-bay / paypal and you could miss this at a glance. They also copy all of the graphics etc to get you to log into "your account" on what looks just like your correct login screen, thus giving them your login and password.
What you did was perfect, go direct and do not follow the links. This way you know you have gone to the correct site. Watch this for any sites where you use any sort of direct financial transaction as they are all open to this type of fraud. |
