Title: Irish Open Post by: T8MML on March 25, 2008, 10:19:15 PM Just read through all the updates over the past couple of days - wow did it all really happen????
Having just landed - the plane, not me I'm still six foot up in the air - I cant say thank you enough for all the calls, texts (109 on one day alone!!!) and messages on here from all my friends and family. What an amazing ride!!! (No, not this time the wife was with me lol) Many of you may not know that Skalie and I are the best of mates and when he finished 5th last year in the WSOP I suggested to him that he must have been devastated to have got so close to a big one and miss out. He assured me at the time that he was thrilled and had no feelings of dissapointment at all. Although accepting his word I have to say I had one or two doubts. How could you be happy, money aside, I thought coming so close to winning a "biggie" but after yesterday coming so close to a "biggie" myself - and I don't mean Tommy Dunwoodie - I now fully appreciate just what he meant. Yes, leaving the table having got my chips in marginally in front and got outdrawn hurt for a moment, a moment that is only surpassed in shortness by "making love to a beautiful woman" (copywright Swiss Tony) and then the sheer elation takes over when you recognise the achievement, the joy on the faces of family and true friends, plus knowing that, for once the God's smiled on you - but not as much as Mr Channing :) - wp that man! Jeez, someone even asked for an autograph!!!! With Tommy making 3rd as well - another top mate and total loon - you can just imagine the party afterwards - "never before in the field of conflict has so much been drunk by so few" - woke up this morning nursing the hangover from hell but hey WTF - you are only young once! The funniest thing though happened at the airport when the "Blakehams" arrived at the airport in a black stretch limo with an expectant audience waiting to see who got out. Dissappointed that the occupants weren't A list an Irish fella says to his missus "Be Jeezus thats d'fella that was on the TV last night playing d'poker" Fame at last!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again, many many thanks for all the support and good wishes and GL at the tables Tim Title: Re: Irish Open Post by: crapper on March 26, 2008, 01:23:00 AM Not a lot I can say m8....

I know you would have LOVED to have won, but at the end of the day I don't think there was any stopping Bad Beat. He's a great player, had loads of chips and ran good. Deadly combo. It was great fun updating on you, you were always having a laugh at the tables and we had a ball photoshopping your head onto various items. Hope to see the tim-inator in action again soon. My late father used to call me "Tiff" as a kid - perhaps I should change the online alias to "Tiffacake" - sound familiar????
