Title: Blind Questions
Post by: Pyso on March 27, 2008, 10:58:19 AM
Hi All,

Just wanted to get some thoughts on play in the blinds as it's an area that seems to be very hit and miss for me at the moment. I have my own ideas but would love to hear some others.

Scenario 1

You are in the small blind with 8,2 off suit on a 9 player table. The guy in the big blind couldn't look less interested in his cards - you are confident he will take a free flop. How many limpers do you need to justify a call and why?

..supposing you call and hit middle pair on a rainbow flop what do you do now (assume here there are 5 players)?

Scenario 2

This time you are in the big blind and there is a 3xbb raise from early position and a call from the button. The table is not overly aggressive. (There is no small blind as he has just left the table). You have 8,2 off suit. Given that you are capping the betting, do you call here, or if you fold, what are your justifications?

Fold on both occasions - this is bleeding chips. absolutely no reason to get involved with hands like these.

This is why you fold pre-flop.

Thanks guys.

Indeed, I have been folding in these situations, despite getting some banter back about passing up value and being a tighty.

These two scenarios came up last night and of course the one I folded the flop came 8,8,2 (lofl) and the one I limped (getting massive value) I hit middle pair which became trips which then lost me money when I was out-kicked by the only hand that could beat me.

So, of course that got me wondering if all the banter I was getting had a hidden message.

Probably not. Lol. I think limping from the SB is a real leak and I'm determined to keep plugging it.
