Title: Awake
Post by: suzanne on March 27, 2008, 10:37:25 PM
Was watching morning telly when they were talking about this film which is about a guy who is "awake" during an operation. They reckon 1 in 700 experience this but also that the numbers could be a lot higher.

It happened to me about 14 years ago and the hospital was very quick to apologise at my bedside but at the time I was just glad to be alive. Im pretty sure it didnt go on record so im now wondering just how much higher the numbers are.

Who else has been awake during an op?

I have never had that experience, but am looking forward to seeing this film. Been waiting a while, originally saw trailers for this about 3/4 months ago and been wanting to see it since.

Is it a horror film?

Just watched the trailer on you tube...looks like a good film.

Im thinking reality might be more horrific.

No i dont think its horror - more thriller, if there is much difference!

I dont think it will be scary, so to speak.

I watched it about 2 months ago.  It is ok, Jessica Alba gives it a score of 6/10.  It was going to get a 4/10, but she saved it slightly.  Hayden Christiansan is better than he was in Star Wars and gives a decent performance.

I'll watch just cause of Jessica Alba (stole my heart in my earlier years with Dark Angel), plot sounds familar to a few films and I'm hoping there isn't a obvious twist at the end.  How on earth does Hayden Christiansan keep getting these roles, seems like a new keanu...

LOL worth getting on DVD. the ending is unpopular, but faithful to the book

My mum was awake during an op and the hospital tryed to cover it up saying she was dreaming, she should have sued them but didnt but its pretty normal for rotherham hospital according to a few people

No Country was quite good ... not seen the other two.

Although a 2007 film, Bone Dry with Luke Goss was very good. Recommend it.

Verdict
Less painful than having your chest cut open, but a disagreeable experience just the same.

;D :D  a bit harsh, but on the right lines IMO
