Title: GSNPC £500 (1)
Post by: Newportlad on March 30, 2008, 11:36:40 AM
Level 5   Blinds 150/300

UTG:  TAG  Good solid player.  Has approx 15K.  Raises to 1200
Folds round to Hero in SB who has 13.5K.  Finds  Aspades Kc.  Raises to 3500.  Standard raise?
BB:  Fran.  (Little Miss C).  Obviouly has a hand, but after a long dwell, Passes.

UTG:  Asks. 'Why raise so much'.  Seems a bit odd to me.  Surely i've made a normal re-raise here.  Anyway, he pushes all in.

What do you do, and why?

by good solid player do you mean nit?

The "why raise so much" when you haven't even tripled his bet screams AA to me.

it was obvious the guy had JJ or QQ as he didnt want the call..he said to Newportlad i dont want you to suck out on me,i would have called as soon as he said that but im a fish, lol.

i had 88 btw and had 8k so it was all in or fold for me.

I agree that his "why raise so much" comment is indicative of a big hand so you're not going to be in front here. 4xbb from UTG with A-A is a bit strong for me, unless the table is particularly aggressive, or that's his standard amount, so i'm inclined to think Q-Q or A-K.

Then again, if a tricky player said "I don't want you to suck out on me" it could be Aces. Anyway, he's got a big hand, so I think it's better to take your 10k and move on to the next hand.

i prefer a flat call in this situation. before you re-raise, you should have considered the possibility of him shoving.
