Title: Re: A gentle hand quiz Post by: yt on November 03, 2005, 01:37:39 PM foghorn - Js Jc
BB - 6s 7s he couldn't lay down the st8 flush draw and she thought her overpair was good? Title: Re: A gentle hand quiz Post by: mikkyT on November 03, 2005, 01:39:57 PM I would say that the big blind is sitting with an A rag spades, maybe a 10, so hes got flush draw possibly with top pair. UTG is sitting with top or middle pair and a face card.
Title: Re: A gentle hand quiz Post by: TightEnd on November 03, 2005, 01:42:39 PM well done Mikky, you are very nearly there
BB had As 9s...I don't think his play can be faulted Foghorn had Ac Td...good enough for a 5x bb raise utg and a re-raise of half her stack on the flop in response to a lead bet out of position and an instant call >:? Title: Re: A gentle hand quiz Post by: mikkyT on November 03, 2005, 02:26:23 PM Flipping this up on its arse, I'm trying to analyse what I would do in the foghorn leghorns position. I was looking at this from the angle of being in the cut off with A10. Re-reading, the foghorn is UTG which changes it for me as I'm likely to fold A10 UTG this early on. Certainly if I raise, its 2x or 3x. Not 5!
But anyway, I have position and the flop is a good one for me. Top pair with an ace kicker. SB & BB have both limped, I can assume BB is calling with maginal cards and only because the SB also called (soooooted value call...). The SB leak out bet is weak, is he probing with bottom or middle pair? Or his he trying to disguise a strong hand with a cheap ass bet. The instant call from the BB screams flush draw with an ace rag, he called the pre-flop raise after all so hes likely to have that kind of marginal hand. The correct descision here is to raise. Calling would be wrong, and I don't think I can fold top pair without knowing how the SB plays. I think I would go 800 with a further 1600 with the intention of folding to a re-raise. A raise of 800 is too cheap, I have to find out where I am. I don't think there is any way out of this hand unless I am re-raised. SB and BB are both calling. As it turns out, the SB does re-raise and I can now fold knowing that the SB has trips.
