Six members of the Chezger (and some Blondes) band of eejits fly out to vegas tomorrow (sat 5th April) for 8 days of fun and poker madness.

Well folks yesterday was a scream -- Myself , Shogun and richeo has a smooth trip planes on time, customs no sweat, immigration polite -- got in at 4:30pm ..... however

Slider: Got pulled over by customs and held for so long he missed his connection (seems another Andy Bailey is Public enemy No 1)  -- got in at around 10pm

Technolog: -- the pilot had to call the AA to change a tyre on his plane so delayed his take off -- arrived about 7pm

Dan 350Z: Missed his connection and arrived about 9pm

Didn't play last night just had a few beers (Richeo of course was the exception and last heard was $300 up in a cash game.. we'll see him on Sunday then -- lol)

First update after the first tournament.  5 of the 6 of us played, $60 at Planet Holywood. think there were only 40 players or so because it was a 10:00am early game.  Technolog took 5th place..  Last 4 including myself and The Duke chopped it with myself and Duke taking 1st and 2nd place in chip counts.

Nice cheap and cheerful game, but a good start to hopefully a good week of results..!!

Day 2 - Andy takes down $60 tournament in Planet Holywood...  60 ish players...  At final 4 he offered for a chop...  3 said yes, 1 guy did not want to... All similar chip counts.... They would have all got more than the 2nd payout...  They continued and Andy decided to push into them alla bit harder..  It paid off...  guy who would not chop came 2nd...

Slider (andy) gave today a complete miss, something about over indulging in the drink stakes.

Richeo and Dan 350Z paid a repeat visit to the "educational Centre" last night and were "relieved" of a few dollars for their problems.

It is a complete blast here and so funny. Four of us played the crazy poker table in the casino tonight and collectively took $700 off the management.

Going to play the $150 in the venetian tomorrow (sober of course)

Was a good night last night.  We played in the Planet Holywood 7pm $60 game, none of us did anything significant.  We sat in the bar next to the poker room all night until 1:00am, they had a lounge act on called Matt Newbold.  He sits at a piano and plays and sings, but it is the audience who chooses what he sings.  The guy is truly excellent, apart from once or twice that he had to look in his book, he played virtually all of the songs from his head...  he was on for nearly 4 hours...  There was also some Karaoke during his break...

Oh...  And did we tell you that Miss USA is being held in Planet Holywood this Friday...???  LOL... Some seriously gorgeous women in PH right now...!!!

I just left him 4:0am ffs on teh Crazy Poker table..!!  LOL...  Why have i just had 12 Pina Colada..???  I have never had em in my life, but at a dollar a shot, better value than a bottle of Corona..!!  Should be $13 a pop, but while playing daft games they cost $1..  LOL...

For those that dont know Crazy poker, it is a daft game..  Each player gets 5 cards and dealer gets 5 cards, all face down...  you have to make your best 4 handed poker hand and beat the dealer 4 card poker hand...  The better hands have odds attached to them...  for instance, a flush is 3/1 iirc....  A straight flush pays 15/1...  Min bet is $5...  I am betting $10...  My hand... A456 hearts and a 3 of clubs...  While the dealer is checking all the hands, I say...  "I have a straight flush"...  She turns my cards over, sees my normal flush and pays me like I have a straight flush..... lol....  U should try it, it works..  lol...

If I missed anything here please forgive me it was a bit of a blur -- fellow travellers please add your bits .....

We had made up our minds and six stalwarts combined under the dubious banner of “Chezger” to go on a trip to Vegas.

As is usual in these situations our travel planning was exactly spot on.  Four different flights three different hubs and different landing times in Vegas.  Good start. Myself, Carl and Rich were on American Airlines via Chicago and our flights were on time and we had no bother. Dan missed his connection due to the high volume and slow immigration. Jack’s airplane needed a tyre change. Then there was Andy ???.

Andy was on his own travelling through Philadelphia and it was his first time in the US. He glides serenely through immigration (first sigh of relief). Then there was the lovely people in customs.
“Would you mind stepping this way please Mr. Bailey”.  Panic sets in. “Your name has flagged a query and we need to wait a few moments to verify your credentials” . Panic level increases. After a few worrying moments he is told that he is OK and that the details of the other “Mr. Bailey” did not match his. You know, finger prints different, the other Mr. Bailey was also 6’ 3” and black.
Vastly relieved (and having missed his connection) Andy wanders off, only to hear a shout from behind. “Mr. Bailey one minute please”. Turning round expecting a .44 winging his way, he sees a security guard purposely striding his way. “You forgot your documents” Sphincter intact Andy continues his trek to Vegas.

After all landing at different times we eventually all meet up in the hotel  to have a well earned drink and discuss the plan of action. Rich wanders off in search of a cash game and the rest of us have a few drinks.

The trip started well with myself & Shogun making the final four in the 10am $60 tournament in Planet Hollywood and making a chop with Technolog finishing in 5th (bad form doing the chop after he went out lol). I also cashed in 6th in the 2pm but following a liquid day went out first in the "bounty" in TI (hmm moral there somewhere) Techolog finished fourth no cash no bounty, Shogun finished 6th with $100 in bounties.
 
Slider took down the PH tournament on the following day with some real power poker after someone refused to chop and he went hyper aggressive (i.e. all in nearly every hand) and toasted the three of them for $797, well played that man.

That night it seems that there was some merriment in the nightclub with slider doing his john Travolta impression on the dance floor and he bumped in some large black dude who pushed him. Enter Captain Chaos aka Dan 350Z who leapt in and told this particular gentleman to desist or he would encounter some action of the physical side (or words to that effect lol).

At some hour of the morning RichEo wandered in and slept in his clothes, but did better than slider who made the toilet, slept on the floor, woke up fell into the wardrobe, slept there, made the side of the bed, slept there and eventually made the little space under the telly and slept there, priceless………..

We went to Planet Hollywood and tried the comp again none of us did too well but the Karaoke was an absolute scream. They tried to get me up to sing Danny Boy FFS………. But with Miss America pagent being there the views were very nice.

Dan350Z then went and pulled a great one in the $150 at the venetian taking 2nd spot for $2,987 (he hit 16th the day before – he was on fire). He played for 9 hours and was railed all the way by the rest of us it was a great time with some ribald comments from the rail..

We had a meal in the Italian restaurant after that where the waiter was introduced to “Corona NFL please”

On most nights we played Crazy4poker (rules explained by Shogun in another post) where the afore mentioned Shogun persuaded the dealer he had a straight flush when he had a straight and a flush in the same hand. The dealer paid him LOL………… (maybe it was the 12 $1 Pina Coladas he had)

We played loads of poker, we dined well (the voodoo lounge at the Rio is awesome) and had a great Craic. The company was tremendous the whole trip unforgettable and any rumours of my dalliance with certain scantily clad women in an alleged club will be strenuously denied.

Upshot is we will be organising a similar trip next April and the more the merrier. In fact I am organising an interim trip in November for anyone interested….. let me know.

Sounds like you had a blast,just got back from vegas myself,13 lads on my 40th birthday so not as much poker as i would have liked.Here's a little run down of the rooms i visited;
  MGM GRAND-i was staying at this hotel and played a bit of 1/2nl(i normally only play tournys) i'd heard it was a loose game there,full of tourists but most plyers were pretty solid and i stuggled to make a profit.I played three session and made about $500(about 9 hours in total),the room was loud which i didn't mind,but the drink service was slow so it wasn't my fave.
  VENETIAN-played one of the deep stack extravaganses $340 buy in,great stucture,40 min levels,6pm start.Lots of poor players,many stroppy exits,threats etc in the first few levels,but once it settled down it was a great tourny.Made the final table out of 130 runners,went out 8th at 3.30 in the morning for $1100,i won't take you through my badbeat but i thought the $12k first prize was within reach.The cocktail waitress were simply out of this world,silicone enhanced fast service with a smile,i dread to think how much i drank in those 9 hours.Overall a great poker room very professional staff and dealers,i'd love to have played a few more of these tournys which run all month but time didn't allow.
  CAESARS PALACE-with a massive hangover and 3 hours of sleep i played the £330 noon tourny,40 min levels 10k chips,so a couple of cups  of tea later i started to fell human again and hit the drink.had a great time lots of friendly people with some great banter in a lovely setting,probably my fav.went out 14th(payed 7)after 6 hours,got a bit unlucky to go out but i really enjoyed the place,didn't see any suckers playing there so it must have been me.

The rest of my trip was great,the voodoo lounge on the 50 floor of the rio was a highlight,the place was bouncing on friday night,no problem getting all 13 lads in and the views in so many different ways were spectacular.

While we were over there, we met some lads who were over in a large group.  Think there was 13 of them from Farnborough.  They were telling us they were all from a new poker place in that area..  Wasnt you lot was it?

sorry not us only 2 of us played poker,all work as engs for various airlines around the uk.I am sure i would've recognised the duke from photos on blonde.There sure was a lot of brits in vegas though.

It is Presidents day on the weekend you go, plus Friday flights are always more expensive.
Will have to meet up with some point as myself and a few friends are flying out on the 5th Nov.
I'll be booking 4-8 weeks before then, prices always drop around that time.

  Hooters/T.I./Imp.palace all looked past there sell by date last week,i would shell out the extra bucks for MGM or Caesars.MGM had lots of bars and a fun low limit cardroom,Caesars just felt better quality,a great cardroom,centre strip etc.The irish bar in NYNY was good but that coyote ugly bar got very old very quickly.

Chezger home players went on tour again to the APAT in Scotland and had a ball of a time. Friday nights S&G was a, umm, different kind of game. Carl (Shogun) and George (Geo the Sarge) seemed to have found the early all in buttons in each game. In the second hand of game 1 Carl flopped a 8 to his 88  whilst George held QQ (top pair to the Jack high flop). Bet, bet, all in, call and all the chips were deposited in the middle.

Wow, here we go George is set to become the resident dealer, turn 9.   River 10, George hits the straight. Lots of nh,gg,wp (oh yeah and a couple of wtf’s). The game meandered on with people being regularly outdrawn (or just plain hammered). I left the affray after Glen (Bigfella) decided to raise with pocket 3’s and I decided to reprise with A 10 (the rock had lowered his starting hands ). Must just be me or did the table not stop laughing for ages after a complete miss in the middle to my over cards. Pete &  Lynn chopped that one.

Second game was a little looser, however Carl & George clashed again early doors. George bets, Carl raises, George Calls. Flop Q 8 7, Carl bets, George raises, Carl all in, George call. George turns over A Q – Carl (pausing for maximum effect) turns K K. No help for George. Nip & tuck for a while (well in my case sip & no luck) and Jack (Technolog) luck boxed a split, luck boxed a straight and, well to be quite frank luck boxed the win with Lynn second..  Great night, great company priceless…

The APAT day started, for me anyway, grindingly slow. Had Mary (xxMAIRxx) on my left excellent company. Her and her man top people. After 3 hours I have exactly 175 chips more than the starting stack… That was really the tone of the day dodging dangerous pots, stealing pots. When the tables broke up I was moved to table 1 two seats to the left of Eck, oops he has some game that fella. Anyway continued in my tight demeanor. During this stage Eck got into a race with 10 10 against Ace high at least 5 times and his 10 10 lost three of them (one against my AK suited) however he stuck at it and never faltered and made day 2.

In the very last hand of day one I was BB and had 24k in chips with the blinds 2k 4k. Middle man goes all in for about 30k. I see J8 of hearts in my hand, do I come back tomorrow with  24k, do I hell.. Call….. He turns A K

Flop A (bugger) J (hope) 4…. 

Turn 8 (get in 54k and day 2 beckons)

River… A (double bugger). Never mind I had a great day and learned a lot sitting with good people and had great Craic.. again you can't put a price on these trips..

Had another hilarious S&G with a few friends, so top notch… That Kinboshi fella really is a few chips short of a portion. It was difficult to see the cards with the tears streaming down the cheeks. “What’s the blue chip worth, Ok I’ll see your blue chips with black chips, sod the numbers let’s play colour poker”

Big, big up for Glen who took down the Silver on Day 2 when starting the final day last in chips. Top man (his dog also ran in second in Cork). Also Eck who finished 6th (the man is fearless)

These days are the reason I love the live game TK, Des & Tighty are top people. All combatants were in good spirits and the casino welcoming..

Now for DTD next weekend, Chezger home players will again be represented. Looking forward to it immensely. 

Just back myself and must agree it was a great weekend. Really enjoyed the compnany of the blondes and chezgers there's never a dull moment when they're around!!! Delighted with my performance - decided to do a bit of kingpokering and richeoing on the final table and it seems to work!!

The three way hand at the end was a classic - a real internet special. Button limps with 67, sb calls with a2, I check with 34. Flop 345!!! I insta called the short stack sb's all in, then was amazed to hear chip daddy come over the top to put me all in. The cheeck of it!! His move made no sense unless he had a monster - bluffing there was a waste of time and the speed of my call told him I had a huge hand. So I folded - not sure that's out of the school of aggression but my read was correct.... until I saw i would have hit a house on the river!!

Anyway, if i can place it gives us all hope!! See you all at dtd next week and great weekend, thanks of course to des, tikay and tighty. My word, only 4 days to nottingham, I'm gonna have to book into the Betty Ford next week!!

flight should be max 300 with 1 stopover
hotels you need to start gambling black jack or craps stick loads of money down on table to get max rating and spend little so you get casino rate for hotel
and keep it up all week long an hour a day will get you room rate halved

£579 for the imperial looks a good deal too me,its not the best/most up too date hotel but its clean and tidy and its on the strip, i would be more than happy too go there again in november.

Flights with 1 stop on route are pricy at mo, they usually are this far away. As shown by direct flights for only £20 more. I will look to book from end of August.
Also flights are a little more than £300 now as new fuel surcharges have been bought in which have upped price. Much will depend on the summer holiday market.

When we were in Vegas I bought some "speed" cloth for the home game table -- It is awesome the cards glide across it beautifully -- as do the chips when I pass them over  ;nemesis;

Game 2 underway

Chezger hit Blackpool for the £200 freezeout in the G. Myself and Dan (350) were to set off at 11ish when I noticed a text from RichEO saying his car was kaput. So we took a little detour via Manchester to pick up the man who hasn't seen daylight for at least a year.

We arrived in Blackpool parked the car at the Casino, booked into a B&B and sauntered back to the Casino. The plan was to stay sober for the 3pm comp.

Anyway the comp had £15k starting chips and a 45 minute clock, good structure. TK, Mr Red,Chilli & M3Boy were in attendance as well, it was great to see them again

Remember there were three of us in the car and we were discussing our personal strategies & tactics on the way. Being treated to a master class from Professor Rich.

We register and when the seat draw is made we end up in seats 3 4 5 on the same table - what are the odds on that (with me in 3 <sigh>).

Anyway we plugged away with RichEO as usual building his chip stack steadily -- the man is good. After 3 levels I was still on 15k, grinding or what. Dan had a couple of runs and was sitting on 40k -- two hands later (10 10 v A K - K on river) (77 v 99 to a 5 card flushed board and he had no club his oppo had higher than the lower get my drift) he was out. After 7 hours I was on 20k -- call me the grinder from now on, I'm tighter than a ducks arse...

It's easy poker then with blinds 1k 2k it was all in or fold -- allin with A J - man dwells for a while and calls with QQ I go out in 12th -- what was he waiting for, christmas -

RichEO is still in (he went a little later) so with a complete disregard to our own needs, myself and Dan decide to do a little recco on behalf of the APAT forum trip in July. We visited various "entertainment" establishments and have a short list drawn up.

We left Sunday morning in order to drop RichEO (out of tourney up in cash - he runs good) and the frigging wipers packed in and it was pissing down.

I stopped at the side of the motorway and RichEO gets out and fixes the wipers. Well he pulled the passenger one so far to the left it stuck on the door jam. Well at least the driver one was still working.

We dropped RichEO off and Dan says "I'll sort out these wipers - I know a thing or two about cars" - BANG - fuse gone and no wipers at all

Called my favourite organisation, the AA "Hi my name is Duke and I'm an eejit"

AA man fixed it and off we go, two miles later the left one continues its love affair with the door jam and we are back to one wiper. Oh well don't care cos I'm not on that side.

I understand that Tony choppity chopped again in the tourney. Well done...   Although how he keeps going is the eighth wonder of the world.

Chezger personnel are not usually noted for their, shall we say, exploits involving physical exercise. However this weekend saw them take on the 24hr three peak challenge. Well when I say them, I mean Jason (Jaycbee) did the walking and I did the driving.

We were part of a group of people from the Computer Department at work and were raising money for charity. For those of you who don’t know the challenge. It involves walking to the top of the highest mountains in Wales, England and Scotland all within 24hrs (that’s why I volunteered for the driving FFS)

7 intrepid walkers in 3 vehicles with 3 designated drivers started at Snowdon at 9am Saturday morning. As they started off the drivers set off for Pete’s eats in Llanberis for a full fry up (it’s a hard job but someone has to do it). The walkers completed that task in 3hr 10 mins, I was tired typing that FFS..

We were like a scene from the “Italian Job” when we headed off for Scafell Pike in a convoy (well instead of souped up minis we had two Picasso’s and a 307sw). We arrived there shortly before 4.30pm. As they set off we retired to the local pub for Lamb Hotpot (alternative challenge for the drivers is three meals in three countries, tough job eh). They completed that walk in 3hrs 35min, they were flying.

We set off for Scotland and the last peak of Ben Nevis. Driving through the night we arrived at the base at 2.00am. They set off, head torches blazing and the drivers had a kip (hard job this driving, I however didn’t sleep a wink. I don’t mind driving a Picasso but I wouldn’t like to live in one). They reached the peak (which completes the challenge) at 06:15 which means they finished the challenge in a staggering 21hrs and 15 mins. Well done to all the walkers…….

As for the drivers, we kept to a schedule (even if at times we looked like we were going for pole at the British Grand Prix) and we covered 997 miles (I am seriously knackered). So a big up for the drivers as well…. (Oh and we had a breakfast in Fort William completing the driver challenge of three meals in three countries in 24hrs).

I have never been to any of these before peaks and let me tell you although the driving was tiring the scenery certainly was not. It was stunning, these areas are well worth a visit, even if like me you don’t do a lot of waking. I can only imagine what the views were like at the top of each peak.
 
And let me assure you imagining the view from the top is all I will be doing……..

Although I may take the train to the top of Snowdon, and a very nice train it is too….

Saturday 12/7/2008 -- Forum game countdown

Went to Manchester last night to play in the £30 Double chance FO at the riverside -- AA doesn't beat AK so went over to the G to see RichEO after his marathon in Vegas. He looks well and was owning his cash table. I played a little cash and lost a lot of money (That's why i'm 125/1 for the forum challenge) - never mind had a ball.

Anyway I will do a daily lead up to the forum challenge (Chezger are second fav FFS) including news on the pre-forum home game.

We have 17 runners now for the pre-forum and could squeeze in a couple more if required. Live updates will be provided by son of duke on the Chezger forum and should be interesting.

Early favourite for this must be Darren (Newportlad) fresh from his triumph in Dublin, RichEO will do well if he stays awake (he fell asleep at the table last night), uber agressive Dewi could do a lot of damage and Shogun is due a change in fortune and this could be it.

Anyway today is tidy up day at Chezger with a skip on the drive so a bit of mnual labour is required (that's what son's are for)
