There has been some action pre-flop (I can't recall the betting, but it was a multi-way pot with 5-6 callers). You are in the cut off position with 3c4c

The flop comes down Kh  Qc  Tc

Early position who raised pre-flop bets 2k into the 3k pot. Everyone folds around to you. What are you going to do?

Fold , you could be against better flush draw or a set, no need to get too busy this early on. your chips can be put to better use later on in the tourney.

pass. It's not a good price to draw to your flush, even assuming it's a live draw which it probably isn't. I wouldn't even be seeing a flop with that outside of the blinds.

Okay, lets assume you call.

The turn brings you a club. Matey boy goes all in very quickly, for around 7k. What do you do now?

thats why you pass, because if you're flush comes and matey boy bets it you can't call.

What, even to an instant all in before the card even touches the felt?

then you have to call really , you chased your draw and hit it dont pussy out now

i would say you have to call because thats the only reason you called the flop is this a real hand? if so matey boy has the broadway?

what on earth were you doing calling a raise with that preflop first hand up?

he might have a big hand and be sure you'll pay him off. If you're regularly playing hands like  3c 4c he might feel confident coming out betting into you with a big flush

What actually happened is that you sat there for 12 minutes deciding whether to call or not.

You eventually call, and matey boy shows his straight with AJ (made on the flop).

Oh, and it wasn't me :) No way I'm playing in a £500 freezeout with Mr Colclough at the table!!! I was busy trying to get my laptop to connect to the internet so I could do a live update!

How on earth do you get involved in a 3k pot pre flop with 34 on hand 1!!!

5-6 players means it was 500-600 pre flop!!

I think the blinds will have been 50-100, and I guess the AJ raised 4x BB. FISH ALERT3c4c isn't *that* bad for 400 when theres already 1600-2000 in the pot.

You are going to have to pay a dear price fow whatever draw you flop. Your calling 500, i am guessing it was 10k stacks but i dont know. Now on the flop you are going to have to call of 20% of your stack to chase a draw on the very first hand!!

Yup, 10k stacks. Personally I would fold here. But the case can be made for the call. But as you say, your pretty much hoping for a perfect flop.

I can't make the case for a call, unless you are playing weak players.
