i have bought this tv,havent paid for it yet and have noticed that the auction has ended earlier( probably sold out ),also his feedback whilst high and very good is private>?

could be the money you pay is basically paying for information about police auctions (that are legal) all the stolen items recovered and not claimed are sold off, however not many people know about them and this very much looks like you're paying to find out where the auction is for this item

also making their feedback private is to me a little dodgy 127 good feedbacks is great but it says nothing about when they sold the goods and what they sold

id stay clear of it to be honest and if you want to look into police auctions google them :)

It means you will get details on where to get recovered tv's from the Irish police.

That the listing is just for getting info about police auctions only - you aren't getting a TV I'm afraid.

Unfortunately it's not illegal - all the info is there - you just have to look for it.

Ebay is an auction site..it is up to you to read every listing carefully before you make a bid on it. if you don't read a listing properly you can't really blame e-bay.

p.s. gauk (govenment auctions UK) is a similar scheme operating in the UK..giving people info on police auctions and all that and I know people that think the money they paid to sign upto it is money very well spent .

It's like when people advertise a box for an Xbox or a Wii or whatever.  People pay hundreds of pounds for an empty box.

It's also very easy to get positive feedback quickly on items that don't really exist. Saw one the other day where one person had 400 auctions all for 1p buy now, the item was advice he would give you on how to buy on ebay! lol.

One person bought all of them from him, so for 4 pounds, in 1 day he had 400+ positive feedback.

That actually reminds me that i need to leave some feedback on ebay...

£10p&p seems a bit steep if all your getting is a bit of information

When the scammer decided to exploit a well known and legal eBay loophole by selling publically available information for £50 to people who thought they were going to get a £1000+ TV, I don't think the item on the top of his agenda was "what would be a fair and equitable postage charge for my scammed victims?"  ;)

made me chuckle :D
