Title: Not David F***ing O'Leary
Post by: GlasgowBandit on April 18, 2008, 03:46:00 PM
Its being reported that David O'Leary's odds of becoming the next Celtic manager have been slashed from 33/1 to 2/1 - Noooooooooooooooo!!!!

This would be a fecking disaster as far as I am concerned, I hate the man more than I dislike Strachan, I have to say if push came to shove I'd rather we kept Strachan than go for David O'Tory

Leeds and Villa fans what you think?

No mate he's not, but he has been quoted in the past as saying that 3 years with one big club is long enough.

It was reported yesterday in the portuguese media that Strachan was the number one choice for Benfica for next season, I think Strachan will step aside in the summer - I hope he does - but not for O'Leary.

My Dad's a Leeds fan.  Used to call him O'Dreary  (not my Dad, O'Leary - well it was my Dad but he wasn't called O'Dreary - that was O'Leary and it was my Dad that called him O'Dreary).

So there you go.  A resounding endorsement.

At least you know that when O' Leary comes in you won't have any players for much longer as he'll sell them all.

Unless you get Ridsdale in as chairman...

No idea about his other jobs outside Leeds, but at the time Leeds played some amazing football, we did well in Europe and held or own in the league.

97-98 5th
98-99 4th
99-00 3rd
00-01 4th
01-02 5th

Ultimately just missing out on 4th place for the champions league spot (2 seasons) cost us (literally as we budgeted for Champions league qualification) but how many other teams have broken into the top 4 recently?

Hes ok. Decent manager.

But not a great manager, and no better than what you have now.

His main 2 weaknesses would be:

1) The transfer market. He makes poor purchases for lots of money. (ok theyr are exceptions, but in the main).
2) This is the main one. CANT CHANGE A GAME. NEVER EVER MAKES SUBSITUTIONS. This used to tilt my Dad harder than life.

Strachan>O'leary

Definitely in terms of his post-match interviews.

Strachan>O'leary

Definitely in terms of his post-match interviews.

Strachan>every manager in the world for post match interviews.

Srlsy though, Strachan is a very good manager, far superior to O'leary.

I remember this one:

Interviewer to GS; "Can I have a quick word please Gordon" ?

GS (with no perceptible hesitation); "Velocity"
