If I was playing something like AT98 ds or the like would that make a difference? Is it simply a case of watching out for who jams the whole way with the nut house?

he could have kings but IMHO he is more likely to have aces

Even Aces slow down here, unless he has A-A-8-x, if he has K-8 or K-K I'm drawing dead, and against most other 8's I'm incredibly unlikely to hit and will lose anyway. Surely if he has A-A, I will easily find another spot to stack him at some point.

against an omaha player you would expect him to slow down but online i find so many holdem players playing PLO and never letting go of aces after they miss

Could be AAXX with 2 diamonds, or it could be AAKX with the Ad.  I hate to fole in these situations because I think I'm good but I think the correct play would be to fold and stack him later on.

As Title Std fold as you've played it anyway. Personally i'm likely to have raised the flop to either take it down or gain more certain info about oppo's hand. Obv if raise is called on flop i'm shutting down on turn and only maybe call river if i house up. AT89 is obv much different case unless you polarise his range to just KK/K8 in which case it's as bad as your actual hand.

you have made the hand weird from your flat call on the flop, i'm almost never flat calling.

Your opinions of each other count for a lot here, i've bluffed in his seat before as your hand is almost face up.

Too many variables to make analysis easy just raise the flop and get it over and done with.
