Well, We are at the venue, AND i have made an amazing discovery overnight ... The "DO NOT DISTURB" sign is no longer a mystery to me ... I now know its exact meaning... "Dont come into the room to make the beds or change the towels, but DO use the engine off a russian fighter jet as a hoover and leave it running outside the door for an hour, oh and bring your 4 year old son to work and have him scream blue murder at silly O'clock in the morning right outside the door, and for good measure, just as he is having his loudest tantrum of the year, please feel free to shout at him in an eastern european language TWICE AS LOUD AS THE HOOVER !" And its groundhog day .... another day 1 .... lots more players all dreaming of the big score ... all boring the life out of anyone within earshot of this bad beat, that big coup, last years comp etc etc etc ... ;nemesis; ;nemesis; And after all that ... Welcome to day 1B. I will smile at the right people and look interested in their tales, but secretly, hidden deep inside, i want to kill them. ..................30 minutes to Shuffle up and deal .......................... which is code for "30 minutes for Kev to wake up get 4 strong coffees down his neck and practise being nice to people ;)Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Manchester: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Laxie on April 25, 2008, 01:35:18 PM rotflmfao Good enough for ya Kev. Greek Jack raises to 125, Dharminder Buttar (3rd in Walsall?) re-raises to 725, then seat 1/04 (no list yet) re-re-raises to 2,225. Greek Jack folds, Buttar calls. 7h Qd 8c 1/04 bets 2k, Buttar calls. Qs 1/04 checks, Buttar bets 2k, 1/04 moves all-in Buttar calls and flips Qh Qc for Quads whilst 1/04 shows Kings and is drawing dead. Steve Jelinek was pretty sure the Queens shouldn't be calling preflop which seems a reasonable assumption. Should the Kings also be able to get away post flop? Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Manchester: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 25, 2008, 03:48:06 PM Henning Granstad has doubled up through Dharminder Buttar, raising his 1k flop bet to 2.3k on a 3d 8s 6h flop and calling the push quickly with 8h 8c against the Aces of the former Walsall finalist. No Ace on board and Henning is on 16k I think.
Dean Sanders, his first GUKPT surprisingly. The former has just lost about 2k to Alex Martin, Alex c/raising the Kc 6h 5h flop from 325 to 1100, before c/raising all-in on the Jh turn. Priyan folded. Alex showed Ac 9c. Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Manchester: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 25, 2008, 05:48:28 PM Connor Smyth has doubled up his shortish 3.5k stack with a set of Twos on a Qh 2c 8h board against Kh Qs.
Albert Sapiano's unique tactic of calling on the flop to hit a gutshot on the turn has backfired so far today, he's down to only 3,000 chips or so. Alex Martin c/raised Jeff Duvall and one other player on the turn of a 4d 7s Ks Th board, Jeff passed by the other player called. Alex checked the 4h river and was then faced by an all-in push of about 3,925. Alex thought for a moment before calling with a river counter-feited Tc 7d, but any fears he had went unfounded as the other player mucked and then left to head to the bar presumably. Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Manchester: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 25, 2008, 06:25:36 PM Henning Granstad now claims he's freerolling after raising pocket Tens after Nick Slade limped under the gun. Both checked the Q-J-T flop, fearful that the other had A-K. Slade bet out on the 7 turn and Henning just called. On the river Slade bet nearly twice the pot and Henning again just called, somehow having not gone broke against Nick Slade's Q-Q.
Alex Martin's 3-barrel bluff went wrong, min-raising 5-4o from the button and firing 600, 1,200 and 3,600 on the flop, turn and river but being check/called the whole way by the 6c 4c of his opponent on the Kh 9c 8c 7d 5d board. That one ended up as a split pot, literally a couple of hands later, they're at it again, this time Yilfer shows Ad 6c, marginally ahead of Nick's Ac 5s. A 4c Jd 9s Ts 3h board later and Yilfer somehow doubled up.

Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Manchester: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 25, 2008, 09:18:02 PM Andreas Hoivold is OUT. A re-raised pot between small and big blind with A-Q. A Q-5-3 flop, and an opponent holding Q-Q were his downfall.
Paul Gourlay -- 28k With Pete Linton now in his seat, we think Vince Mather is out. Glenn Ashworth raises to 1,600 from the cut-off, John Eames calls from the button. Ashworth bets out 2,200 on the 9d 5c 7h flop and Eames raises him another 4,500. After a minute or so quiet contemplation, Glenn moves in and Eames calls. Glenn shows 8h 8d, slightly pipped by Ashworth's Js Jh. The Td gives Eames two more outs and loses him two outs at the same time, but the Qs river is not one of them. Glenn Ashworth up to around 18k. Maz Nawab's Kd 7d has outdrawn Jack Powell's 9c 9d on a 9c 5d 6d board, the 4h providing 3 extra outs, the Jd being the killer river to cause Powell's exit. Nick Gibson's exit was with Aspades 6s to Steve Littlejohn's Ad Qd. Pete Linton knocked Lynne Beautmont out, A-T vs A-J, hitting two pair and then rivering a flush. Dean Sanders meanwhile is on ubertilt. Lots of people limped including Kareem Louis (2nd in Brighton), a short stack pushed for 4k and Dean Sanders pushed behind with Aces, a couple folded and then, apparently Kareem called all-in for 15k with Kc 4c and hit a flush on the river... Sanders however just got a double up pushing over the top of Dan Sampson's button push with A-Q and finding himself up against J-9, though after the flop he was rolling his eyes up in the air when it came down 8-7-6, another 8 on the turn followed by a Q on the river has put him back in the game with about 22k. Dean was telling me that after the hand in Monte Carlo last year, (He held 8-7 on a T-9-6 board vs Marc Karam's T-9 which hit running 6's for the chip lead with about 20 left) and then having the nuts rivered in the WSOP ME, he took a lot of time off tournaments and didn't play one until January this year, and that this is only his second, preferring just to play cash back in the Vic. (http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=16351&g2_serialNumber=1) Dan Sampson has since gone OUT. Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Manchester: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on April 26, 2008, 01:28:33 AM Pete Singleton doubles up on the last hand of the night with K-T vs A-Q.
Nick Honey is feeling sweeter after a last minute hand double up with Eights against Simon Turton's Jacks. John Conroy and Nick Slade chopped a 40k pot when they got it all-in preflop with A-K vs A-K. ;kc; Play has now finished for the day. Chip counts to follow. Tomorrow we'll restart at 2pm, but for now we're making a mad dash for the taxi rack before everyone else... ;stickaforkinme; Title: Re: Bluesq.com GUKPT Manchester: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: infamousaudi on April 26, 2008, 01:31:35 AM update on the walsall lad, Dharminder Buttar pls...

So down to 8k i push a few times, and 3bet jam linton twice. Build back to 30k, then open utg with JTd and the small blind and big blind call. Flop Kc Tc Ts check to me i lead and small blind just jams for like 35k, i beat him int he pot he has A9cc and spikes the club on the river.. neverends. rick

Never got a chance to build beyond 18k chips and got called on Level 8 by table chipleader when reshoving 13k chips with 99 into the BB who was holding AA when I thought he was stealing with a weak ace. Enjoyed the event gl Matt Tyler for you push botting today. I mean Stack. Well on both counts there wasn't much to see haha. Come and say hello next time and give me some tips. I REALLY enjoyed this tournament actually and I learnt loads from it. The turth is I didn't exploit my womaness no where near enough. Generally they would all fold to my re-raises as I showed a couple of times when I hit. I should of used this a lot more. To start with it was great because I was hitting NOTHING everytime I saw a flop I had missed so every time I had the guts to re-raise I took it. If I got raised back then I knew where I was. It worked, I have no idea why I didn't do it more. I think because I actually had no hands and kept missing I figured...'I can't keep bluffing ALL the time' it's really exhausting when you don't have the goods. But I never got much of a stack, I just kept paying my rent till I went out. Especially at the end when I couldn't do a raise steal anymore because people were re-raising me all in all the time. The next one I play is going to be so different. I'm not gonna be scared of dying early. Its hard when you're sponsored because you want to last as long as possible because of the pressure you're under to make the cash, but because of this you play scared poker because you know if you go out too early you will be frowned upon. Not next time though.....next time I'm getting jiggy quicker when I'm under the average stack. I played in the ELC at the weekend. It was GREAT to start with, my table was so passive I just kept stealing it was brilliant, I had doubled my chipstack within an hour. I managed to make it to the cash but unfortunately was short stacked and went out 10th. I had 10,000 chips and the blinds had just jumped from 500/1000 to 800/1500, there were two tables of 5 so only 3 hands to find something before the blinds so I pushed in with A9, then K9 and then A9. The 2nd A9 got called by 1010 and I went out. I had no choice though. So gutted. Liv was low and managed to find KK against JJ which was great and she doubled through, she went on to win it which was brilliant for her, I'm so chuffed for her. Just gutted I didn't make the final 8. But I think to cash in my 2nd sponsored tournament is not bad at all so I'm pleased with myself. Anyway, hopefully I'll see ya at the next GUKPT I do, I don't know which one that will be yet. I'm off to the Dominican Republic on Monday to play in the World Poker Showdown woohoo so wish me luck for that one Mich xxx |
