Title: Rake in live cash games - how much..? Post by: Moskvich on April 28, 2008, 05:02:19 PM Inspired by the genial debate elsewhere on the forum, it occurs to me that from my limited experience of playing live cash games I don't really know how much of my money disappears into the house's box.
Can anyone tell me what the standard rake or table charge is in casinos and poker rooms, and how much this amounts to per hour? So for example, in a £1/2 pot limit game - what in your experience is the average rake per hour or per hand? And for £1/1, or £2/5? Comments elsewhere suggest that paying per hour for your seat is generally better value, but I'd love to have some firm(ish) numbers, if anyone can help. Much appreciated, thanks. short handed your cheaper paying per hour so unless your in a busy card room like dtd your better off paying per hour problem with paying per hour though is it can kill the game as as soon as people are due to pay for another hour you can get 3-4 leaving and the rest desiding to give up aswell Title: Re: Rake in live cash games - how much..? My feeling is that taking £6 per hour from even a good win rate, makes the game pretty unbeatable.
So I moved up to £1/£2 rake game where it a 5% rake from a pot, not 100% sure but I think its capped at £10. For my quiet tight style it worked out really well, got involved in 3 big pots won 2 nearly got felted in the other, still ended nicely up. I am convinced my hourly rate would be better on the rake table. At DTD it 5% for both the 50p/£1 and £1/£2 I think. Title: Re: Rake in live cash games - how much..? A lot of people talk about 9-10 big blinds per 100 hands being a reasonable win rate in the long run in No Limit Hold'em - that's about £3 an hour in a dealer-dealt game at the Vic and £2 or less in a self-dealt game. If you're paying £6 an hour, you need to be a really big winner in the game to still come out with a profit. I suspect that at the Vic, it's still possible to come out ahead because the standard of play in those games is so laughable. Post by: Alex Scott on April 29, 2008, 05:17:36 PM I think it depends a lot on the stakes you play relative to the charge. £6/hr at £0.50/£1 is pretty high in my opinion. I doubt you would pay that much in rake in one hour at those stakes unless you were super-loose.

Obviously my question is inspired by the Royal thread, where they said they took about £80/hour out of the game (through a 5% rake, max £20) and several posters leapt down their throats about it, saying it had to be much more. I clearly don't want to reopen that specific debate, but I would love to know if anyone actually had a good grasp of how much should be coming out of a game per hour. Although I would have paid less in a rake game, the table as a whole would be down a lot more money, and subsequent pots would be smaller etc with the fishy players paying more and going broke quicker. Sessions make a better game IMO.
Bring on the £5 / hour this week. Can't get better than that. |
