Title: Man Utd V Barcelona
Post by: chrisbruce on April 28, 2008, 10:53:26 PM
I would love to see Man U win this but I think this will be a very close match that could go either way with a bit of brilliance by Messi or Ronaldo likely to settle the game.

I anticipate a much more open game than the Nou camp affair.

With this in mind Im filling my boots on Barcelona at 4.6 (betfair) FTW.

I dont bet with my heart I just try to find some value.

Don't want to seem like i'm baiting people but why don't liverpool fans want Man Utd to win?

Surely the chance to beat your biggest rival in the final of the biggest tournamnet is what you dream of.

Do you just not think you'd win?

definitely the fear of loosing to their biggest rivals ;)

Man Utd v Livepool is the final I'd like to see.

Then I want them to get stuffed in the final so I can see Ronaldo cry.

Id like Ronaldos legs to be broken in the 1st minute, Rooneys in the 6th minute and Ferdinands in the 11th (takes a few mins to get each one off on stretchers, altho itd be more fun if they wer just dragged off),.

Title: Re: Man Utd V Barcelona

Man U are about the only one of the EPL representatives that you could warrent supporting as an English 'based' club. On that basis, being the lesser of 4 evils, I'm hoping they win it. The sooner some sort of quota of home grown players is brought in the better.

I predict goals, goals and more goals tonight.

Done 2-2,3-3 and 3-2.

That should ensure another 0-0 then.

Liverpool would have alot better chance of beating barca, Liverpools record against Man Yoo under Rafa is shocking.

Cue Baron saying "anything can happen in a derby" lol.

I will be supporting the English team tonight as i always do, thank god for not being a bitter premiership football fan or Horneris.

Spot on. Yes it would be amazing to beat Man Yoo in the final but the honest truth is we probably wouldn't.

(Although anything can happy in a derby)

Dunno, is the hatred as strong the other way round? Hear far less of it (probably as they have bigger fish to fry and lots more prawn cocktail fans but still..)

Hey, I'm an old git and not into all this rivalry stuff if it gets as OTT as that.

Yeah its defo as strong in return, but atm you wont really hear Man U fans passionately wanting Leeds to lose to Yeovil Town.

I've been to many games where for 90 mins straight the sounds of ''we all hate leeds scum'' echo round the ground.  And not just against Leeds lol.

Hopefully they'l be bk someday so we can hate them some more.

10/3 barca win? big odds imo

0-0 is virtually the same as if they had won the first leg 2-1, the only difference being the 0-0 result needig extra time rather than going through after 90mins. They are overpriced imo. Having said this history in the CL shows that after drawing 0-0 at home in the first leg 14 teams have gone out and only 6 have gone through.

Well done Man Utd! All English final. Hopefully Liverpool get through tomorrow.

Lionel "The Best in the World" Messi couldn't find a way past Wes Brown in two legs??

Barcelona aren't in the same league as any of the other semi finalists. If the draw had been kind it would have been all English semi finals.

Brown and Ferdinand were excellent tonight

Brown suffers from being shuffled around between RB and CB and squad rotation. Below the real top class of the top English CB's he's still a class performer.

I'd rather lose now than to Man U in the final. As always, we're not expected to go any further, so it stings less. Plus it'd still be seen as 2-1 to Liverpool when it comes to crunch semi finals ;). Finally, without Mourinho winding everyone up I dont hate Chelsea so much. In fact I quite like Grant and how he's handled the comical amount of pressure he's under considering how well he's done.

It's the same for every Man U fan I know. They are praying we dont make the final. They can handle losing to a half a million pound team built by the deepest pockets in football better than losing to us.

The pleasure in of beating the scouse in the final and the game as a whole would be unparrallel to anything before.

I dont have the ability to physically cheer you on tonight, as i hate the scouse milesssssss more than chelsea, but i hope you win when its all done.

With the greatest respect to Liverpool and Utd fans not from Liverpool and Manchester, I think people from the actual cities would feel even more strongly about it than I do about not wanting to lose to the local rivals.

I disagree with tht, i'm from Manchester and believe its exactly what we want.

The pleasure in of beating the scouse in the final and the game as a whole would be unparrallel to anything before.

I dont have the ability to physically cheer you on tonight, as i hate the scouse milesssssss more than chelsea, but i hope you win when its all done.

Fair point but that's because you believe you can win (and rightly so).

If somehow you knew for a fact that you'd lose to Liverpool in the final would you rather have lost last night?

Yeah ur right there.  I think losing to Liverpool in a champs league final would be amazingly depressing.

Well I think Utd deserved it, my wife was happy she went to the game and was up for fun when she got back at 2am! Result :P

Barcelona aren't in the same league as any of the other semi finalists.

Figuratively and literally correct.
