Title: Sven sacked
Post by: TheChipPrince on April 29, 2008, 10:08:42 AM
Jeez, who'd be a manager... Done 'OK' if you ask me, 2 Derby wins and a season to build on...

i am not a sven fan but i think there expecting to much to soon from him ,its the first season in years when they havent been in danger of getting relegated, good teams take time to build so as long as the team look like they are going the right way ,you have to give the manager more time, but sometimes it only takes 1 season to be in trouble, look at bolton this season, city might regret sacking sven

I bet he's delighted, another pay off and his reputation is back.
Valencia or Italy calling him.

Decent start, stupid asking for imediate success, he was probably a top class striker short of Europe and one of the strikers he signed has been out most of the season.

Who the hell do Man City think they are, Sven is probably the best manager they'll ever get and he did a lot more in that season than most managers would have, he also looked like he could strengthen the squad over the summer.

Seriously though;
This is why it's not always a good thing to see a club bought over by a gazillionaire....and it'll be the death of English footie in the long run.

this is exactly the case, how sick is this.

lucky not to be relegated last season, decade of mixed league football and they get hold of sven, start do build, avoid a relegation battle and he gets the sack, how stupid.

this guys such a doughnut, the top 4 are as a whole impenetrable over a 10 year or so period on and off the pitch thats gonna be a hard thing to change but teams that build slowly for 8-9 years like eveton, blackburn and bolton(till they got rid of sam) can nip at their heels, gets results against them have good cup run, play European football and turn a profit, i mean did he seriously think 2 months into his first season: "wow ive bought this club and now we're one of the big 4, what a result"!!! dddduuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, what an absolute mug, piss off back to wherever and get locked up for nicking all the countries wealth you fraggle rock muppet.

I agree that Sven shouldnt/won't really be too bothered. Payoff, club manager reputation probably enhanced further - especially with the derby double. He'll walk into a top Italian or Spanish job.

I dont think he did himself any favours on Saturday by playing Elano at right back when he obviously needed a result to ease the pressure.

Still a joke after a good season tho.

If you click it, P.Powers market is "Who will start the season of 08/09 as Man City manager?"

So at 7/2 it looks v bleak for him.

So theirs was an in running market before he was sacked? cos 14s about allardyce looks big.

wow, just as i was typing more prices coming through and blusesqure going 33s!!!!!!!

All the firms seem to agree on Scolari though

I'd love to have a bit of info about these particular markets because mostly the bookmakers just guessing, the amount of times it's been N/O about a particular manager and it's gone the other way is ridiculous.

I bet harry redknaps had it off large on these markets over the years!

someone decent rung us for a price on him tho and we quoted 12s.

So jus took 33s for the value.

And 7/2 on him being manager at the start of next season tells its own story.

I have mixed views on the season, a few good buys and a few badduns. Our form in 2008 has been fairly mixed and very every good result like beating United there is a draw with teams like Derby, Bolton and Wigan.
To be fair to Sven most of our defence is injured, and a few new buys such as Bojinov have been unlucky with injuries.
Must admit that Saturday was embarrassing, but think most Citeh fans including me would give Sven another year. I am off to Anfield on Sunday and will be interesting to see if the players rally or give up.
If he does go, obviously want a big name befitting a big club.  ;)

Quite suprised he'd want the man city job as he's  supposedly future man u man they'll not be keen on him if he goes there (then again so is about 5 other ex man u players lol) also the fact the chairmans a nutter and most players are pissed off doesn't same like his best oppurtunity to me.

I agree its madness but don't think it helped that he said on worldwide tv that he was going to quit then changed his mind he was crazy to do that.I was just thinking today with mourinho being classed as such a great manger except from getting extremly lucky and playing monaco and winning the cl what has he really done to back up his credentials i think his popularity helps him a lot obviously he won trophies at chelsea but any donk could've done that with the amount of money roman gave him to spend now he manages inter a team who have won the league for 3 years and are the dominant force.
