Title: Paris
Post by: floydpink on May 05, 2008, 10:26:02 PM
Just arrived in Paris to play a few tournaments.  I haven't been here for a while, and was greeted at the Aviation Club by the rudest people I have encountered in poker.  I was asked for 100 euros annual membership, as well as 100 euros for each of the three guests accompanying me.  I left, and I doubt if I will bother to return.  It used to be one of my favourite venues to play, and I've been visiting regularly since the early nineties.  I think I'll avoid it in future, and I advise others to do the same!

wow...that's bad,
thanks for the warning - i haven't been there for a couple of years now & doubt i'd return as imo it is not a suitable venue for big field tournaments,
& aye, some of the surliest staff i've ever encountered...

I was talking to some players at the weekend, who'd mentioned the €100 annual membership fee (there is no shorter membership fee option), and they too went to some other clubs - only to be faced with the same thing.  They did eventually find one that didn't demand this.

Is it the norm in some countries?  I guess everywhere does it differently.

I was turned away last year as it's a poker club for poker players - and I patently wasn't suitable.....sometimes I just can't give my money away!

Yes - but I was with my ex and they probably were referring to him - or they had an ugly policy - again referring to him... ;whistle;

Why is rude? this is 100 law to join L'Aviation. You pay the 100 then play poker no? So many bad players here Russe an Frog.
