Title: Ankle trauma Post by: AndrewT on May 08, 2008, 02:50:50 PM Ok, I may need some medical advice so, obviously, I'm posting on here.
Played 5-a-side football last night for the first time in about 8 years. Had a bit of an incident when I had my weight on my left foot and tried to turn. Something went 'crack' and down I went. Very sore initially, but after a couple of minutes I was able to hobble off. Managed to make my way home, walking quite slowly. Got home, took my trainers and socks off and my ankle looks like this. Did the ice thing for about an hour till that got boring. My ankle still looks like that now. It doesn't hurt if I'm not standing up, merely a dull sort of throbbing, which is due to the swelling. I assumed it was a sprain, as if something had broken I'd assume I would have been able to put no weight on my foot at all. And it would hurt like hell the whole time. Then again, I definitely heard a crack. Has any one here sprained/broken an ankle and could let me know if I can just let this settle down by itself or whether I need to hobble along to the doctor.
